Trouble convincing myself MH wasn's the perp.
I always discounted MH as a suspect; it just seemed off. But the more I look into it, the more he seems like a good match. In fact, in my opinion, almost too good of a match. He had the big three: means, motive, and opportunity.
He would explain some of the things I still have questions about: the attempted breach of the NE double doors, for example. Due to his injuries, he may not have been able to get through that small opening, so he tried the windows next and failed. The slow walking.
I don’t think it was a robbery or a targeted attack. I think the perp was looking for something, but wasn’t sure where it was until he saw the office sign. Then he opened the nursery by mistake. The tools in the white mesh box also fit that idea.
I think the timestamps would prove it if we had them. He walks briskly at the end before entering the auditorium because he knows someone is there. He exits the NW exit and runs into Missy. He couldn’t let her leave because, as a registered sex offender, he would have gone to prison forever for armed breaking and entering and impersonating a police officer.
He had family history with law enforcement officers. His size and shape match. My opinion is that something triggered it. Maybe the church outreach program had someone come by his house to check on him, and he got mad and wanted to remove his file. Or maybe he was involved with a different outreach program.
He didn’t need to rent a car because he had more than one auto. I think one was a Hummer H3, possibly used to pull his boat and jet skis. A Hummer H3 is considered a compact SUV.
I’m not sure it’s provable. The outfit and gun are probably long gone, and he’s dead. But I think police could look into any connections between him and the church prison outreach program to see if there had been any communication with him.
Heavy doses of pain medication can make people act strangely. Police apparently believed it was a new gun, according to their warrant. People who knew MH say he didn’t own guns. Did he buy a new one? I understand the rumor was started by a relative, and from what I understand, one with an axe to grind. That’s mostly why I discounted it at first.
He didn’t have work Monday. He had no alibi.
At the end of the day, not only is he dead, but it may be impossible to prove. I guess that’s why the case is still open. Also… how much information has been scrubbed from the internet?
