Image 1 — This is my natural density. Should I consider minox or wait for some years? I'm going to be 22 in May this year. I'm asking this coz my hairline is completely fu*ked, otherwise this won't be a question.

Not done by any means but god dam how far iv come

My dad is completely hairless and so was I. Figured these were my genetics and lost all hope for a beard until I found this sub. Consistency was key and trusting the process was definitely a big part as well.

Keeping gains

Any sure way to keep minoxidil beard gains after stopping? Every time I quit, hairs start shedding. Did anyone keep their results permanently? What worked for you?

Potential to Close Patchy Areas?

I forgot to take a “before” photo but have been using minoxidil for only 3-4 weeks I think, so probably not crazy different . I had a beard in my mid to late 20s and was annoyed by some patchy areas. I’m 39 now. I decided to grow out a beard a bit because the patchy areas would still be easy to rub into skin with minoxidil. So this is at a week of not shaving. I hate my mustache gap but it’s smaller than it used to be. My upper cheeks are also really weak.

I wanted to get an idea of how much potential or growth I might see, especially in my weak areas. I hate waiting for things and not knowing so any feedback or comments as to how likely it will be that I can cover these gaps is appreciated. I am also taking biotin even though I’ve heard mixed things.

Thank you!

4 year progress, 1.5 years off Minox. Age 24-28

Yes I know my grooming is absolutely terrible it is the end of my semester havent been worried about it lol

Routine; foam twice a day thats it

I did lose a little bit of hair after going off like the middle of my mustache patch and eyebrows but whatever.

Thrilled with results. First person in my family with this amount of facial hair

Should I dermaroll?

I haven’t shaved in a little over 2 months, I’ve been using minoxidil since January 2026. The only area where I’m experiencing little growth in my upper chin and soul patch area. I’m thinking about shaving and restarting but I’m hoping it’ll fill in over time. I also just want my facial hair to be thicker, I’m sure this will come over the rest of my time on minoxidil but will dermarolling help?

Would Minox fix this?

Hey. I have always had an incredibly patchy/sparse beard so always shaved, but around ten years ago I decided to just go with short trimmed ‘stubble’ because I hated shaving.

It takes a while to grow out but once it gets to this stage I want to keep going but feel it makes the patches more obvious. One side is also way more patchy than the other.

I would love to have a full beard. Not sure why I’ve waited so long to look at this option. I’m 43.

Thanks

Small update

Soon after my last post I ended up getting a automatic shaver/razor to finally shave/trim my facial hair and I’ve got to say that I 100% feel way better about the way I look and I’m actually enjoying how my facial hair looks now. I know it might be a weird style for most but for me it’s what I like I’m aiming for some mutton chops that connect to my mustache which will take a while but I’m patient and in time I’ll reach my goal, plus it makes sense with how I dress which is alternative but I’m slowly getting into more a more flashy/disco style of dressing. I’m not looking for styling tips or comments saying to shave fully cause I like how it looks but if you have a helpful tip or something feel free to comment. I usually trim the sideburns about once a month down to a 3-5mm and shave my chin/line up the edges about once a week and do liquid minoxidil once a night, I’ve started dabbing it onto my skin and I think I’ve been able to tell the difference at the least I can definitely feel it while it’s drying. Also feel free to look at my last post on my account to see the difference, hope you guys have some good gains and feel happy about the facial hair you currently have.

42 M: 22 months in

I think I finally reached my goal and now going through the awkward phase. This is about 4 weeks of growth. I believe minoxidil played a big part of my darker eyebrows and thicker hair on my head. I’m going to let it grow for another 3 months before trimming and finding the best style for me. It works guys! Don’t give up!!

3 month update

I’m using the following:

- Regaine foam (twice a day, half a cup each)

- Derma Stamp (0.75 mm) (twice a week)

- no side effects so far

This month had some big progress.

I am hyped for next month already.

Before & After 6 month progress. Derma roller + 5% Minoxidil Topical.

Before I started, I could only grow hair under my chin and the usual chin/mustache areas—not even close to a full beard. I still have a long way to go, but I’m really happy with the progress and enjoying the process.

Here’s what’s been working for me:

1. Derma roller (0.75mm)

I use it before applying minoxidil, usually after a hot shower.

The reason this works:

Derma rolling (microneedling) creates tiny micro-injuries in your skin. That triggers your body’s natural healing response…basically putting your skin into repair mode, increasing collagen production, blood flow, and growth factors around hair follicles.

This can help “wake up” or stimulate dormant follicles and improve the environment for hair to grow. It also helps minoxidil absorb better into the skin.

Note: it does hurt a bit—but that’s part of the process.

2. Minoxidil (liquid)

I prefer liquid over foam because I can fully saturate the skin. I apply enough to cover my whole beard area.

Also backed by research: combining microneedling + minoxidil has been shown to grow more hair than minoxidil alone.

3. Consistency

This is the biggest thing. Results don’t come overnight—stick with it and trust the process.

Good luck 👍

After 10 months , I think the results have stopped.

Hello, I've been using minoxidil on my beard for 10 months (I had a good beard and foundation befor using minoxidil). I felt an improvement, I think, within 4-5 months, but after that I don't think there was any improvement; the gaps are still there.

Use it twice a day, but occasionally leave it off for a day or apply it once a day.

Has anyone else gone through this period? Thank you.

Minoxidil Beard Progress – Before & After 3 Months + Question About Patchy Cheeks

Hey guys,

I started 5% minoxidil (twice a day) a while back and in just 3 months I went from a sparse, patchy beard to a much fuller and thicker one on most of my face. Here are my progress pictures

The only thing that didn’t fill in well are these symmetrical patchy spots on my cheeks.

Question for those who had similar patchy cheeks:

• Did you manage to fill in stubborn patchy areas

on the cheeks with minoxidil?

Would really appreciate any advice or similar experiences! 🙏
