quitting beta blockers !

after getting diagnosed with pots about a year ago, i’ve been on two different beta blockers, but i don’t know if the results are worth it…

i don’t think my day-to-day life has gotten easier (though my bp does look better when i get it checked). i feel like ive completely lost my hunger urge 9/10 days (yet somehow, with this and eating 1000 calories a day, i have gained ~15lbs in a year, sweat every single second of every single day no matter the weather or activity, and have a permanent sense of nausea / acid reflux.

i’ve finally decided im going to quit my 25mg of metoprolol a day dosage after foolishly taking it for ~8 months with the idea that my body just needed more time ! luckily, im not relying on this for any psychiatric stuff (i have other meds for that), so the only withdrawal i’m looking at is physical seemingly.

i would love if folks could let me know how their quitting / withdrawal experience was, if they lost weight / how that looked for them, and if things get better :)

Positive stories stopping low dose after three weeks

Anyone have any positive experiences stopping a low dose after about three weekend?

I took 12.5 for a week , 6.25 for 5 days then 6.25 every other day for the last 9'days .

I'm feeling anxious and adrenaline but I deal with anxiety in general. Any positive experiences ?

Wish I'd never taken this awful drug

Took metoprolol for hypertension for about two months with ALL of the most negative side effects. Finally made it clear to my docs that I needed to STOP. Tapered slowly for a few weeks: 50 mg to 25 mg to 12.5 mg to skipping every other day and now it's been one week metoprolol -free.

Some anxiety, intermittent lightheadedness, little bit of occasional heartburn, and occasional fatigue but MUCH LESS than I had before. I'm told that it may take another couple of weeks to be free of these withdrawal symptoms.

I just want to thank you guys for being there! I'm so SICK of doctors telling me I'm imagining things when I KNOW I'm not!
