There's no doubt that many of these female characters get the hate they do because they're women, and if they were male, people would defend them to death. Even if Charlie's actions were questionable in Season 2 of Hazbin Hotel, many people were starting to actually like Valentino in Season 2 over Charlie. FYI, people, Valentino is a rapist and an abuser!
Others are called useless or even called out for not being perfect, and even if they are redeemed, well-layered, well-written, or provide good use to the story, they're still hated on.
I . . . I don't know how to draw nipples . . . 。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。
Not to sound weird, but Malty is so cute when she's at her worst
Love this dummy more than i should, haha
She's never left anyone indifferent and that is a good thing for any fictional character - even back when I believed she was just a one-dimensional hate sink without any dephts, she was still the most memorable character in the series to me !

Hello friends!
I think we can all relate to this. We found ourselves intrigued by Malty at first, thinking this was just another fantasy anime. Malty would be a good Lady Macbeth figure and perhaps have a Maleficent vibe. Then we saw the most horrible ending for the poor thing, and every nightmare come true for her, even tho she had a damn good reason for fighting back against the world. Its far more depressing than most villain defeats, due to it being textbook revenge-porn instead of an actual climax for the hero's triumph against them.
Or at least a very different climax than what the author was thinking of. Jesus H. Christ
Have a lovely weekend! I hope it's warmer where you are than it is here!
I haven’t watched the whole video because I’m too lazy to watch the whole thing
This is from u/ManufacturerBroad340 by the way - he made Malty in Tomodachi Life and she unironically got more recognition there than in her canon universe apparently ! It's nice that there's one universe where Malty lives a peaceful life
I want to play Tomodachi Life now
Including Shinji Matou and Niko Bellic
The 2 arguments I often see against Malty are "Malty killed her brother" or "Malty sold women to slavery" - the first doesn't hold up since she was a kid and the actual murderer confessed, and the second is just Aneko coming up with more reasons for the readers to hate Malty
Hello, my name is Manufacturer Broad, though most people online know me as J466, and today I want to tell the story of how I accidentally managed to redirect an entire community’s hatred away from Malty and toward someone arguably far worse—the infamous King of Faubrey himself. Yes, that King of Faubrey. The so-called Pig King. The man some fans jokingly refer to as the ‘Judge Holden of the ROTSH universe’ because of how horrifying and depraved he is in the light novels.
So, this all started in a Discord server called Aetherium. The server was pretty popular in its niche; it was known for posting multifandom fanfics on Wattpad, discussing anime lore, crossover stories, cursed memes, and occasionally getting into massive fandom debates that lasted for hours. But if there was one thing Aetherium was truly famous for, it was hating Malty from The Rising of the Shield Hero. Every single day there would be jokes, slander posts, memes, and entire conversations dedicated to insulting her. For a while, that was basically the culture of the server.
Now don’t get me wrong—I understood why people hated her. Malty is manipulative, selfish, and caused an unbelievable amount of suffering in the story. But after spending time reading deeper into the light novels and lore discussions, I realized something important: most people in the server barely knew anything about the King of Faubrey. They only knew Malty because the anime focused heavily on her, while Faubrey himself stayed more in the background unless you dug into the novels.
That’s when I remembered a collection of memes my friend had made on Reddit about Faubrey and Malty. The memes basically portrayed Faubrey as this grotesque monster who made nearly every other villain in the series look tame by comparison. Some of them compared him to historical tyrants or horror villains, while others mocked him by calling him the ‘Pig King.’ One meme literally described him as ‘the final boss of terrible human beings in Shield Hero.’ I thought they were hilarious, but more importantly, they were informative in a weird way.
So I started posting those memes in Aetherium.
At first, people were confused. Most of them had no clue who Faubrey even was. Some thought he was just another random noble. Others assumed he was some filler antagonist from the novels. That confusion gave me the perfect opportunity to explain everything. I started talking about who the King of Faubrey actually was, how feared he was in the lore, how twisted his reputation had become, and why even characters within the story viewed him as terrifying.
The more I explained, the quieter the Malty slander became.
People started realizing that while Malty was awful, the King of Faubrey was on an entirely different level. I told them that if they wanted to direct their hatred somewhere, maybe they should focus less on bullying Malty nonstop and more on mocking the Pig King instead. I explained how Faubrey’s existence added a darker layer to the entire world of Shield Hero, and how the anime barely scratched the surface of how disturbing the lore around him actually was.
And somehow… it worked.
Slowly, the atmosphere of the server began to change. The same people who spent weeks making anti-Malty memes suddenly started making Pig King memes instead. They began calling him the true menace of the series. New jokes appeared daily, comparing him to horror villains and tyrants. Some people even admitted they started feeling bad about obsessively bullying Malty because, after learning more about Faubrey and the environment surrounding her, they realized the situation was more complicated than they originally thought.
Eventually, the server’s entire running joke shifted. Instead of Malty constantly being the punching bag of the fandom, the King of Faubrey became the new target. The Pig King basically turned into Aetherium’s public enemy number one.
And honestly? Watching that transformation happen in real time was one of the funniest things I’ve ever witnessed online.
