Not sure if its a dumb question or just pure fantasy but is it possible we get a version of the my the mystical Archive thats color shifted? Maybe not the same set of spells but other spells shifted to new colors. Kinda like how Bloodline Recollector has ancestral craving?
Or is the card paring going to take up the archive slot instead?
I was looking at the revealed art from Reality Fracture, and couldn't help but notice a couple things.
First off, the art for Tam here appears to be shaped more like the art for a planeswalker than that of a creature. There are ways this could turn out to be a creature still, but I actually think this could be our first planeswalker Tam.
Second, for the art for Face Yourself, I initially didn't even realize it was art for a card rather than just promotional art. It's also sized slightly differently to art for regular spells, so I feel it's almost guaranteed this is a battle.
Liliana’s art here seems to be done in the exact same “glass breaking” style as the leaked colour shifted snapcaster mage, maybe this is proof the leak was real?
Howdy y'all
Heres a round up of everything I can find about the mirrored pair cards in Reality Fracture
The product page, https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/reality-fracture, shows the booster packaging which says "2+ legendary cards in every pack".
Heres Maro confirming that every pack will have a mirrored pair: https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/815565310132453376/is-there-going-to-be-a-mirrored-pair-in-every
From this we can deduce that all the mirrored pairs are legendary cards. Which eliminates [[Snapcaster Mage]] and [[Stingcaster Mage]] from being a mirrored pair. EDIT: Heres Maro saying that: https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/815472247785570304/you-said-that-each-pack-of-reality-fracture
Despite the one mirrored pair weve seen containing a reprint, most will not have reprints: https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/815595888760225792/do-the-mirrored-pairs-always-contain-a-card-that
Heres Mark being evasive about if each mirrored pair will have the same card type (ie creature and creature, planeswalker and planeswalker): https://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/815509587743686656/can-i-get-a-hint-if-any-of-the-mirrored-pairs-wont
According to this thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/MTGRumors/comments/1sq05ml/gamegenics_product_listings_for_reality_fracture/, Gamegenic has product listings for albums and playmats and stuff feature planeswalker 1, 2, ...., up to 11.
This revealed art for "Face Yourself" features 11 figures; Jace + 5 mirrored pairs. I think its safe to assume that these are planeswalkers 1-11. And from there I think its reasonable to assume these are the only planeswalkers in the set. Assuming Jace is colorless/5 color and they have balanced the colors, Vraska needs to be green and alt Vraska needs to be blue.
The two revealed Chandra's we've seen, [[Chandra, Chill of Compliance]] and [[Chandra, Torch of Defiance]], have collector numbers 212 and 244 respectively. These numbers are too high to be in the normal position of a normal sized set. I suspect that all the mirrored pairs will be grouped together at the end of the set, either immediately before or immediately after basic lands.
The Chandras are 32 cards apart and 2 colors apart. If we assume they are in the same part of their color (does red or blue have dramatically more characters that come before Ch- in the alphabet?) and that the colors are evenly balanced this would mean that each color has 16 cards. Assuming all mono-color cards in the paired section that means 80 total cards in the paired sections, or 40 mirrored pairs.
If chandra is the start of both blue and red that would mean the final green card from the pair section is 275, which is about the number of cards in a large set (SOS had 276, ECL had 273, TLA had 286, EOE had 277)
The magic wiki lists 24 known characters who have been desparked, https://mtg.wiki/page/Desparkening Weirdly including Liliana Vess. Its possible that the gamegenic packaging refering to numbered planeswalkers is simply calling her a planeswalker for convenience reasons and she'll actually be a creature, and who know about her (or anyone elses) mirror versions. Also maybe Liliana sparked up again :\
By looking at the pictures Smaug seems to be Rakdos, Thorin maybe Boros(?) Gandalf three colors, 1Bilbo seems to be green, the other one is Blue and apparently there will be a green(?) arcenstone variant
Could we see the Secrets of Strixhaven college mechanics show back up in Reality Fractured but color shifted to their new Hexhaven colleges?
I realize that many of them work rather easily in the new color pairs. Unfortunately not all five, so I'm wondering if we see a cycle of cards that are a throwback to the Strixhaven mechanics instead of being a larger part of the set.
Infusion is easy to see in Green-White with Vigorbloom, lifegain matters has been done in a few sets before for the two colors. It's also distinct from the Ravnica Guilds.
Repartee similarly can work well in Black-Red Stingerquill, as we've seen Red get mechanics like Heroic in the past. Both colors care about casting removal spells and can have some combat tricks too.
Flashback in White-Blue Fatehold is a little bit of a stretch from the flavor perspective, based on the discussion that the college is supposed to focus on ensuring a specific future occurs while flashback is about the past. But they still study the past to ensure a specific outcome in the future? And Blue can certainly get Flashback.
The last two don't work out as well, although they also could be pairs where the representation is pushed into a new direction (Like Lorehold being so different from Boros).
Increment in Black-Blue Theorix seems off. Counters can happen in Black but doing it in Dimir seems very unusual instead of a mill or graveyard theme. I could see changes made to make it a slower, grindier mechanic that fits with control.
And Opus in Red-Green Konstrari doesn't make much sense. The payoff for a big spell somewhat fits thematically for the color pair, although caring about instants and sorceries instead of creatures would be a big shift. No Green card has ever had Prowess, one stand in for caring about spells, and then the two Magecraft creatures from original Strixhaven.
I got excited when I first thought about Infusion and Repartee before realizing that it's not a perfect fit for all five mechanics. But Strixhaven itself had some very different archetypes than usual. Since we're getting a full ten pair draft archetype set and hopefully some mechanics that play up the alternate universe theme I wouldn't expect there to be a heavy focus on color shifted Strixhaven mechanics. But maybe we'll see a cycle or two?
Collectors numbers on the revealed hobbit set say its a small set.
This combined with the comment the presenter of weekly magic made that 2026 introduces the same amount of new cards as 2025 suggests that star trek is a big set. Yeehaw.
When Foundations released, it included ten "main characters" - five planeswalkers and five legendary creatures. They'd each be featured on one of the full-art lands, and the idea was that these characters would appear in sets following the release of Foundations (source)
Now that we have two years' worth of sets known following Foundations, I wanted to go over all the characters and see if they've already played a role or will play a role.
Planeswalkers:
Legendary creatures:
So we can infer that we'll be seeing Kaito, Giada, Tinybones, and Kellan sometime in the three years after Reality Fracture? Thoughts?
This is from the WPN Product page. The word choice seems to imply the return of Amass.

The Moon Knight MTG Variant Comics are listed to release tomorrow on multiple websites. Is this a placeholder date or is there actually going to be an announcement tomorrow with the cards being revealed? How did the release work when they have done mtg comics in the past?
What are the chances the LOTR precons get a reprint with the upcoming hobbit set having no commander precons? I picked up food and fellowship but then got super lucky and pulled the rock poster version of [[Sauron, the Dark Lord]]. I’ve been looking at maybe building a deck for him as a reanimator deck but I’d heard the Mordor precon was perfect for him to slot into
A few days a go during the preview panel at magicon it was revealed the precon of the Reality fracture set, and it shows Jace as the lead commander, I dont think theyll despark him, so he most likely be a planeswlaker, but it got me thinking, since the set is most likely going to be a planeswalker dense set, do you think the commander rule comitte will revert the rule and allow planeswalker as commander just like they did with vehicles???
Mainly because last time they did thsi with vehicles the spaceship commanders where show in the package and already didnt have the tag of "can be your commander"
