Cargo

Hello everyone,

Recently got really interested in cargo options for my 2020 MT03. I have a tank bag and a tail bag currently. Wondering if anyone has experience with tail racks or saddle bags with supports. Would kind of like to be able to use my passenger seat.

I tried soft saddles but without the support they lean on my blinkers and bend them since I installed a tail tuck.

Also just looking for cool functional mods (ie hand guards)!

If you have any ideas or any experience please provide pictures and links!

Thank you in advance!

Should I get the MT-03?

Hey everyone!!

I’m getting my motorcycle learners permit and was wondering if I should get the MT-03? Just wondering if you could give me some pros and cons? And maybe any other bike options that may be better?

Thanks!

EDIT: I’m only 5’1 so height is a concern for me and it’s gotta be LAMS approved (MT-03 is)

My new MT-03 🇲🇽

Sold my Honda Hornet 750 (which was a great bike) in Australia. Once in Guadalajara, Mexico I needed something lighter, more nimble but with enough power to be great fun. Traffic here is thick and nuts. So here's my 2026 MT-03, love it too!!!!!

Ride easy guys and girls!!!

Repair advice wanted

Need a bit of advice as to what to do next. I was going around a corner and had a bit too much speed, this resulted in myself going straight into a gutter 🤦‍♂️. Luckily I was unharmed and managed to keep the bike upright through the whole ordeal. The damage to the bike consists of a dented front rim (I have bought a new rim and tyre as the structural integrity of the tire would be gone). As you can see in the pictures though the front right fork has an ever so slight bend in it. Just looking for general thoughts on what to do next. Another issue is my handlebar is slightly bent out of place due to the force of me pushing into it. I don’t want to buy a new handlebar nor do I see it necessary, looking for advice on how to straighten that back up. Thanks in advance, new rider, even newer at fixing bikes, any advice helps.

Edit: Bike is a 2019 MT-03, if new parts are needed please let me know where to get them (Live in Australia)

Hey guys, is tipping a 2020 03 over to its right side on a stand still or a slow maneuver enough to knock the alignment off the two wheels, or the chassis itself? It’s not that easy to move or bend, right?

im pretty new to bikes, the 03 is my 2nd bike. I started riding last summer. i went from a 135 to the 03 and im quite comfy with throwing around the 03 on tight twisty backroads, or doing 75 on the highway. i got the 03 to have a full size, real motorcycle, but one that was under 400lbs and nimble. the MT-07 felt heavy to me just handling it in the store. i recently felt after about 1200ish miles the "i could go bigger" feeling, but i think thats where most people go wrong. I have SO MUCH more to learn, and I want to do it on the MT03/R3 platform.

it seems most people just go bigger in a few months and complain that the 300 was too slow.....im doing 45mph cruising backroads, can easily get to 80 on longer straights, and 75-90 on the highway isnt a chore. the wind isnt that bad. im 5-9 185lbs. how fast u need to go, 100mph all over? 😂

i wonder how much enjoyment people sell off just to go bigger, just to satisfy their desires and wants and SPEEEEED. i have a car thats as fast as an R6 and has a cage in it.... i dont really need a motorcycle to do those speeds 😂

i hope to stay humble and learn a lot from this bike...its really a superb scalpel through an apex.

have you used your MT-03 FULLY?

Hey all,

I will say that I am very thrilled to be in the same club as so many others with owning an MT03. Pictured above is my 24 (heavily modified) Mt-03. I love it and couldnt be more thrilled with it. When I first got it I loved it but after a few months I got "bored" with it after riding with buddies with 600s and 1000s. But i never thought after riding a 600 I would be happy to have my MT-03. It felt no different on the 600 vs the MT-03 with my riding style. Sure the 600 has more hp and torque but when you aren't doing felony speeds on the highway it doesnt matter.

Needless to say and to shorten the story up. I couldn't be happier with the darn thing and might possibly get another in a different colorway and keep it stock.

Anyways just figured I'd share.

Thanks!

Has anyone ever swapped their grips to the motogp grips? Is it worth the extra effort and money to do that?

What else should be done on my 2022 MT03?

Looking to replace tires. It's time for new ones. Which ones do ya'll recommend?

Also, looking at replacing mirrors. I don't know if bar ends are my style but willing to experiment.

Thinking of changing levers purely for aesthetics.

What are some fun mods you guys have done?

I'd like to replace the rear seat with a cowl but they are kind of pricey I think.

Smell from exhaust

Hii, I bought a 2020 MT03 in March and love her. I’ve run into a small issue, my exhaust smells like burnt popcorn when it’s running. Any idea whats causing it?

love everything about it but the darn Db level!

im a machinist so i whipped up a silencer. its not ss and was my prototype and it worked well. i did the back cap first but it was still a lil much so i added the inner sleeve and that worked. i left the rim on it so i can bop it out with a dead blow hammer (i machined it for a friction fit) i still get accel/decel noise and pops when i just crack the throttle but my ears are thanking me and so are the neighbors 😂. its been in there a few hundred miles so id say shes good!

i wish silencers were required and everyone included one. would be nice.

ill eventually try to grab a slice of 304 SS and some SS DOM tubing and make a legit one.

I've had many, many bikes over the past half century but only one with ABS, and that was a big BMW RS. I reslly don't like it and try to buy around it.

I got my MT with just a hundred miles on it because the previous owner had it a few weeks and traded it for an 07. I could not tell it from new.

I really do not think this is an ABS issue but I don't know enough about it and this bike to be sure of that.

----------------

When I step on the rear brake pedal with just moderate pressure, I get one very pronounced click through the pedal. It's distracting. Is this normal? A Yamaha thing? I'm not locking the back wheel so this is troubling.

Thanks in advance for you wisdom

👍😎

Has anyone replaced the factory tires on their MT-03 yet? I have a 2022 with only 950 miles, but I am starting to get concerned about the age. Tires look good, plenty of tread left, no dry rot or wall damage. I may be overly cautious.

Anyway, Has anyone deviated from the factory set and happy with the choice or have any tires to avoid.

Thanks, Safe riding.
