Oil consumption normal?

Three weeks ago I bought an MR2 W3 2002 with 70,000 kilometers on the odometer. When I bought it, I inspected the pre-catalytic converter (as shown in the photos), and it looked fine to me at the time. Unfortunately, I’ve since noticed that it’s been consuming at least 0.7 liters of oil every 1,000 kilometers, and now I’m worried that this could lead to engine damage due to the known issues. According to the previous owner, she never topped off the oil; the service center always did that. However, she didn’t drive the car very much and never on the highway. I’m in Germany, so removing the front catalytic converter would be tax evasion, and I’d have to reinstall it every time before the TÜV inspection. What options do I have to keep the engine running a little longer, or is the oil consumption actually normal?

Thanks for your help!

How do you guys feel about highway commuting in these? I've been thinking about getting one for a while now so I can stop driving my Tacoma to work everyday 9 months out of the year to save on gas, and I'm curious about safety and comfort on a 55 mph city highway. Traffic is relatively dense morning commuter traffic, commute is about 15 miles each way. Would appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks!

I did my swap a few months ago and I'm now getting a P0135 code. The MWR header gets a reading from only one of the cylinders (which seems odd). I've read this can cause the O2 sensor heater to burn out which would explain my CEL. Has anyone run this setup with no problems or do you put a bung further down before the CAT (to get a reading on all 4 cylinders?

Edit: New upstream O2 sensor solved the CEL

I have Downpipe A is on my car with - what I assume - is a Malian/Topspeed "Lotus Catback"

Flex pipes are dead - tried replacing with Downpipe B but it wouldn't work as it touched the pipes going down to the tips. The recommended local shop told me they couldn't fix the flex pipes.

Would you help me figure out what my Downpipe is so that I can replace just that rather than buy a whole Muffler + Downpipe.

Looked at Magnaflow but it seems to be a 90° angle like Downpipe B.

The Momo horn button alone was to plain and common so I added a Toyota "Teq" horn button and Momo horn bezel. Much better 😊
