Everyone blaming the show when they should be blaming the men?

Is there a higher incidence of rape and sexual assault on MAFS than in the general population? Is this another case of putting the blame anywhere than where it actually lies? How could a show actually prevent what happened? Just a few things i’ve been thinking about. What’s you guys’s view?

Reports that the new MAFS UK 2026 series has been axed?

Granted with all the current claims going on it is not a good time for the show and investigations are required to understand what happened and why things went so wrong for some of those involved.

However how annoying must it be for the next cast to have given up time and just gone through the process (hopefully without any safety concerns) to find out that the show might never be shown.

Should MAFS call it a day?

I never thought I’d be saying this, but… is it time for MAFS to just call it a day?

I’m only up to the second dinner party, and I’m already kind of over it. It just feels really toxic this season. I get that drama is part of the show, but this doesn’t even feel entertaining — it’s more just uncomfortable to watch.

What I used to like about MAFS was that, even with all the chaos, there were moments where you could see genuine effort or actual feelings. Now it just feels a bit forced and negative.

Also, it really doesn’t feel the same knowing Mel is not with us anymore. She brought some balance and actually called things out in a way that made sense.

Maybe I’m judging it too early, and it gets better, but right now it’s not looking great. Anyone else feeling like this, or just me?

Speculations on the panorama investigation

I’ve seen so many posts using different grooms faces and trying to pinpoint them to the assaults. It’s sooo disgusting and damaging to the innocent men.

With all the mental health crisis’ that have happened with reality tv stars, the public and the press should be doing way better.

They’ve got the wrong men on the main headlines for no reason.

I don't think MAFS should be cancelled but their safeguarding is atrocious

I watch MAFS and I love it. This latest season was great as was season 9. Australia season 13 was so good to watch.

From the get go there are already some very insanely nasty things that MAFS does. Intimacy week. Season 10 Intimacy week with Charlene was such a difficult watch and for someone who is an intimacy expert it is truly insane that intimacy week is not optional. Justice for Sarah.

What actual briefing do they give participants about consent? About rescinding consent? About pressure and coercion? About damaging notions of the idea of giving sex to your partner? I cannot bring myself to believe they do anything meaningful or comprehensive given the men they cast who want to terrorise bumholes. The vetting process needs to involve an in depth understanding of sexual preferences verified by an ex at least.

I read Shonas latest post and she said something that was honestly very disturbing. Her and Bradley were removed because they didn't feel it was a safe environment but then production told her to go be with him on the outside and offered to get them a hotel together to spend the night?

I think an ignorant understanding of consent, reality tv, and relationships in general will have people saying "well theyre grown adults so they knew what they were doing"

That is not how life works and people who hold this opinion should never work with people.

I'm not going to lie I think the experts have a huge amount to answer for and surely it's not a huge expectation that they should have been able to have some level of authority with production?

But no I dont want mafs to end. I really enjoy the show. I just think its actually insane what they've been able to get away with

MAFS on Panorama

Did anyone else just watch it? Honestly I feel absolutely sick.

Like, some behaviours from the guys and women have been horrible and sometimes very questionable, but I honestly didn't think SA would've been an issue.

It's really putting me off wanting to watch the UK show in future.

Anyone else?

Not watching any more

God but it's exhausting being a woman.

I can't watch MAFS again. Knowing that at least one (and likely more) woman has been assaulted during the programme has made me so angry.

It's not a big statement, I know, but I'll give it a miss from now on. Does anyone else feel the same?

mods please remove

requesting mods remove any speculative messages around who the alleged rapists are in the BBC article.

respecting the women want to remain anonymous is priority. they must be incredibly anxious and it’s unfair to betray their bravery by throwing names around.

i understand we want to make spaces safer for women by naming these men, but ultimately the women need to feel like they’ll be safe from harm in doing so, especially when one was threatened with an acid attack.

additionally if any theories do gain traction, it can result in a mistrial if taken to court due to the jury being pre influenced by social media.

edit: seeing the women be supported and not having a witch hunt instigated may encourage more women to come forward. of course hoping there aren’t more but i’m very doubtful.

MAFS USA Live Threads Here: Starting Tonight (Monday) at 7:45pm

Hi everyone. We've been given permission to have live threads for MAFS USA, which starts tonight at 8pm on E4. (It would be awesome if we could possibly have a flair please, mods? No worries if not, obvs)

Quite a few people have already said they'll join - it would be great to have as many of you cool, insightful, funny folks join as possible. IMHO, it was the live threads here that made MAFS AUS.

MAFS USA has tended to focus more on the actual relationships than the dinner party drama, which could be a nice palate cleanser after MAFS AUS...

Who's up for giving it a go? :)

MAFS UK being removed from online services after at least 3 brides make rape claims?

Literally just watching ITV news and just heard that apparently C4 have or are taking it all down after external investigators found they failed in their duty of care?

I knew the death knell was coming but I didn't expect it to be quite as potentially extreme as this. Jeremy Kyle all over again.
