Kleinanzeigen for LU?

Hi - does anyone know of a similar listing platform as Germany’s Kleinanzeigen but for Luxembourg? Or any other recommendations… I’m not on Facebook but hoping to avoid FB Marketplace if I can help it.

Thanks!

Resident in Luxembourg - Feedback on banking and card setup?

Hello,

I recently moved to Luxembourg and I'm looking to optimize my banking and card configuration for interest and rewards. Here is what I’m currently :

Primary Bank: Spuerkeess. Have this already.

Main Card: AMEX (French version) for daily transactions to earn points. Have this one too and linked to spuerkees.

Savings/Investment: Trading 212 for the 2.2% daily interest on cash and ETF investing. Scouting for better options

Backup: Revolut for RevPoints and for when AMEX isn't accepted and preferably some lounge access. Scouting for something better here too.

I’m looking for suggestions to improve this:

  1. Does anyone have a setup that yields better than 2.2% on cash while remaining flexible?

  2. Has anyone found a better card combination (e.g., using Curve) to stack cashback or rewards more effectively in Lux?

  3. Is it worth the upgrade to amex platinum or revolut metal or something given their high fees.

What's with people taking loudly on the phone in crowded buses and trams?

I thought this was a phenomenon not prevalent in Luxsmbourg but seems like we have some uncouth people across all nationalities who like to talk loudly over the phone/listen to music without any respect for others

-Taking business calls

-Showing family back home but with loud commentary

-Blasting music on your phone without earphones

Please take some etiquette classes and spare us the drama.

What documents required to get Temporary authorisation to stay for UNILU students?

I got admitted at the UniLU and they asked to get Temporary Authorisation to stay. I am from South Asia. I would be grateful if someone break down the document list required for Temporary ATS with financials as a sponsor as my parents too?

The Red Lion: Standing tall in every department

One of those 'once you see it, you can't unsee it' moments. The anatomical accuracy on both the maritime flag and the cockade is... quite something. The Red Lion is definitely not hiding anything, is he?

Do your groceries at La Provençale?

Hi everyone,

Is it worth doing your daily grocery shopping at La Provençale in Leudelange?

I wanted to go out of curiosity, but it's impossible to get in without a membership card. This card costs 50 euros and is supposed to be reimbursed in the first year if you spend 1000 euros there. I don't buy 1000 euros of fruits and vegetables a year, so is it really worth it? What are the advantages of going there? Is it cheaper? Is there a wider selection of products? Are they organic? Are they local?

Weather’s too nice to stay home

Hey everyone,

I’m a guy in my mid-20s, working in the medical field (soon to be a doctor), and I’d love to meet some new people.

I’m pretty extroverted, love good conversations, coffee, walks, and just enjoying the city while the weather is actually nice for once 🤙🏻

If anyone’s up for grabbing a coffee, a drink, or just exploring together, feel free to DM me!

Senior Software Engineer compensation in Luxembourg – market range

Hi,

I’m 32 years old with 8+ years of experience working as a Senior Software Engineer (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, AWS, React/Angular). I’ve been working in Luxembourg for more than 3 years and have experience with clients like the European Investment Bank, European Commission, and large retail companies.

I don’t have a clear idea of what is considered a good compensation for this profile in Luxembourg, so I’m trying to understand what the typical gross compensation range looks like for someone like me.

LUX Passport

Dear All,

I hope you are doing well.

In light of the changes brought about by COVID-19 and the evolving global landscape, I have been reflecting on the possibility of applying for Luxembourg citizenship.

Currently, I am working in the banking sector and am fortunate to have a stable role, competitive compensation, and a comfortable life in Luxembourg. However, I am keen to better understand the broader professional implications of acquiring citizenship.

In many countries, citizenship can open doors to senior leadership roles, strategic positions, or opportunities within public institutions (for example, in the UK, USA, Germany, or France). I would appreciate your insights on how this translates in the Luxembourg context.

Specifically, I would like to understand:

  • Whether Luxembourg citizenship provides any tangible advantages for career progression, particularly in senior or strategic roles. Or they just belong to French and Belgians !!
  • Any advantage with State jobs ? .. I always see State agencies like Luxinnovation, LUXprovide, LIST or other always look for personalities from other countries for leadership roles to evolve instead valuing the actual skills ..
  • Beyond travel and residency benefits, what practical or professional value Luxembourg citizenship may offer.

Thank you in advance for your guidance and perspectives.

Full casco insurance cost in Luxembourg (Jaguar E-Pace) — is this reasonable?

Hi,

I’m based in Luxembourg and got a quote for full casco (all risk) insurance for a Jaguar E-Pace 2021 (diesel, ~180hp).

Profile:

• 30+ years old

• Driving license since 2012

• Bonus/malus around 2

• Private parking

The quote is around 120€/month with full coverage (including replacement car and value protection).

Does this sound reasonable for Luxembourg or should I push further? Also, any suggestions on how to reduce the price without losing too much coverage? What are you guys paying for similar cars / profiles?

What are the needs of Luxembourg labour market?

(Rant)

Right from the start this website “Work in Luxembourg” was already a disaster with half of the functions not working, and now this.

- The apply button for every job is locked. You need to register an account. To have an account, you need to upload your CV and fill a form.

- Then they would tell you they would review your account first. But it’s just an automated algorithm.

- Then they would send you an email basically saying “you can’t be on the platform, we don’t need you.”

Imagine how elite and superior a JOB BOARD must be to turn away jobseekers?? If there isn’t a need for me in this country, why am I working here?

Renting an apartment without CDI

Dear all, I have been offered a 6 month contract for a manager position in Luxembourg. What are my chances of finding a studio in Luxembourg city? Not having a CDI makes it a mission impossible?

Buying our first apartment

Hi everyone,

We’re a couple in our early 30s living in Luxembourg. We moved here about a year ago and are now thinking about buying a 2-bedroom apartment.

Our situation:

- Combined net income: ~€8,000/month

- Current apartment lease : €2,000/month

- Stable jobs (CDI)

- Savings: currently still small (we’re in the early stage of building them)

We’re trying to figure out if buying makes sense for us at this stage, given the current market conditions.

A few questions we have:

- Is it a good time to buy in Luxembourg, or does it make more sense to wait?

- What price range should we realistically target with our income?

- Given our limited savings, is buying even realistic right now?

- How much should we aim for as a down payment?

- Any hidden costs or surprises we should plan for?

- Would you recommend buying now vs continuing in the current situation and save more?

We’d really appreciate hearing from people who recently bought, or anyone with experience in the Luxembourg housing market.

Thanks a lot!

Wheels balancing

Hi, I tried calling several shops and either they were just confused or gave me pricing in a range of 60-80€

Basically, I want to bring my own wheels in my trunk and just get them balanced. Without removing rims or anything. Should be a simple 5 minute job.

Anyone knows the best place to do it? More or less central/east luxembourg.
