I have a relative that is staying in Lund but I found out today he's been sleeping in the university.

Yes, he is a student there. And he is currently working when he can doing food delivery service. I am trying to do my part in helping him out where I can. He expressed to me today that he hasn't taken a shower in a fair amount of time. I'm trying to explore my options with getting him resources. I live in California and my options are kind of limited. But I really want to do what I can.

Urgent advice needed!!!!!

So, I have been admitted into Lund and am on the wait-list for Karoliniska (#3) for Masters in Public health.

I have started applying for housing on Bopoloon and am waiting for AF Bostäder.

I have received an offer on Bopoloon for a room for 5000 kr and the owner wants me to sign a contract and transfer the money.

What do I do? I have heard accommodation goes by rlly fast but at the same time, I have heard how if I have a contract it makes me intelligible for the lottery.

I also genuinely don't understand the lottery system. Can someone tell me what are my chances of getting it and how much will be the cost?

And what would they do in my shoes.

I have never ever lived in Sweden so all of this is really foreign to me and would they chose Lund/Karoliniska?????

I need to work too, so I need to know in terms of rent AND amount of money I can earn (I need to cover my living expenses)

Applying for residence permit in June... am I screwed?

Hi! Anyone applied for residence permit in June and still made it on time? (for a Master’s starting in autumn). I already checked the waiting times on the Migration Agency website, so I know it’s not ideal 😅 but I had some unexpected delays and I might not be able to apply before then. Just wondering if anyone here was in the same situation and still got approved in time. I need some hope lol. Thanks a lot

My position at the accomodation account is 520 how bad is it?

I joined the queue on 27th April but just today I "applied" to any of the dorms. It says there are 687 total objects and my position is 520. That doesnt sound that good tbh, do you know how does the system works?
(I have guarantee and name is August 26th #1)

Datum: 4–5 maj

Drop-in: kom förbi, cykla/kör längs med gatan och säg din åsikt

Help! Did you get a confirmation after paying tuition?

Hi everyone! I’m an international student and I just paid my tuition online, but nothing popped up on my screen after I entered the OTP.

For those who have already paid, what usually shows up after? I’m worried it didn't go through, but I’m also scared to try again in case I end up paying twice. Thanks!

Lund housing – Klostergården & offer timing?

Hi everyone,

I’ve applied for LU Accommodation and I’m considering Klostergården (studio flats) as one of my top options.

I wanted to ask:

How is Klostergården as an area for students? Is it safe and comfortable to live in?

When do LU Accommodation usually send out housing offers / let you know which place you got? Or how does the process go?!

AF Bostader Housing Application

Hi guys,

I am looking for housing for next fall in Lund and I am confused on how the AF Bostader accommodation system works. When is a good time to apply? Currently, I only see offers beginning in July. Will this be updated on a rolling basis? In general I would appreciate every tip!

Thanks!

Studying abroad in Lund experience?

I am an American who is looking to study abroad next spring and am interested in going to Lund through the UCEAP program.

From the little research that I have done I think that I would enjoy the student life, nations sound cool and overall it seems that Lund is a pretty social and welcoming place.

However I have some questions about what it is really like to go to school there.

  1. Is it easy to meet/make friends with locals? I know that Swedes can be a bit standoffish but is there a good chance I will be in an exchange student bubble the whole time?

  2. How are the classes? For people that have studied in America, are they comparable difficulty to American college courses? I am in STEM and am considering trying to get some technical courses done while I am there but I want to know if there are any big difference that I should be aware of.

  3. One of the main things that I am concerned about is that Lund is far from the rest of Europe. I know that it is a quick train ride to Copenhagen but is there enough to do? It obviously won't be like going to Prauge and being able to go everywhere but is there enough cool things to do closeish to Lund? Also what are the plane ticket prices like to other places in Europe?

  4. Finally, I really enjoy doing stuff outside such as hiking, running, exploring, etc how is the nature inside/outside of Lund?

Living in Måsvägen or Eddan as an LTH student

Hi!

I’m an incoming international Master’s student at LTH, and I’m currently looking at LU Accommodation options like Måsvägen and Eddan, which seem a bit farther from campus.

I know Lund is a bike-friendly city and many students use bicycles, but I’m especially wondering how manageable that is during winter. How easy is the daily commute from places like Måsvägen or Eddan to LTH? Is it common for students to use buses during the colder months instead? Also, roughly how much would I spend on transportation per month if I lived there and had to rely on public transport?

I’m trying to decide if these accommodation options are still practical or if the distance becomes a problem later on.

Any experiences would be very helpful, thanks :)

Student Accommodation help - with guarantee.

Hey everyone! I’m coming to Lund this August for my Master’s in Environmental Management and Policy.

From what I understand, as an international student I’m eligible for the housing guarantee. I’m mainly looking for a studio/apartment since having a private bathroom (very important) and kitchen matters a lot to me.

While going through the options, I noticed there aren’t many details or pictures of the studios/apartments, which makes it a bit hard to decide. I’ve also read that housing is quite competitive and you usually have to accept what you get, so I’m not sure how flexible I can be.

I’m an SI scholarship recipient with about 12,000 SEK/month. I was thinking of spending around 5,000 SEK on rent, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic for a studio—would love your thoughts on that too.

For those who’ve been through this:

1)Were you able to get a studio through the housing guarantee?

2)Any specific options I should go for or avoid?

help: Is not applying for the 2 year residency permit so bad?

Hi all,

I NEED YOUR HELP! I will be attending Lund this fall, but only have enough funds for the 1 year permit. I can save for one more month to be able to afford the 2 year permit, but I know the length of getting the permit is also long and I dont want to risk it. So I have been told that renewing your residency permit can be stressful and a lot of people are highly advising against not taking the 2 year permit. I just want to hear from people's experience regarding renewing their permit, what your experience was, and did it impact you negatively in any way, e.g limit opportunities for internship etc.

I'm currently in my second year of secondary school and ive been thinking about choosing lund and i have a few questions!

First of all, I know it's 2-2.5 years from now, but I've really been getting into trying to choose a place to go to after secondary school. And I have so many questions. I really hope someone doesn't mind answering at least some of them!

So I'm from Hungary, and ive been trying to find out how they convert my hungarian grades to the swedish system. I know that my 4.5 average would be around 18-19 points. But I'm not sure if they count all 4 years of secondary school, or mostly my final years final test in only a handful of subjects and how it really is. This 4.5 average is both this years and last years average that I had.

Second, I'm thinking abt a physics BSc right now, and an astrophysics msc later. Maybe also a PhD later. But all of that is so far away I don't even wanna think about it. I was wondering what it's like if anyone has experience. What the workload is, both lectures and homework/independent work.

Also ive been thinking abt going together with a really good friend of mine (hes has around just as good grades as me). I'm not sure how housing is? I know that I'm definitely not guaranteed to get a dorm, but if we both do, is it possible to get into the same room? Either by randomly or by switching roommates if there are any. A question that is related to this is how big all the rooms are in terms of residents. Like are there only single rooms, or would I have a random roommate? Maybe even two?

Also if im not mistaken, since I am from inside the eu I wouldn't have to pay tuition right? I hope I'm not wrong. I don't come from a bad place so i definitely could pay for it if it came to that, but as anyone would, I'd rather not.

Thank you in advance if you answer any of my questions!

Tldr for the lazy bunch:

  1. How are hungarian grades converted to the admission points? Do they count all 4 years of secondary school, etc?

  2. What's the workload of a physics BSc student?

  3. What is housing like?

  4. If I'm from the EU I dont have to pay for tuition, right?
