KLX 300 Reckless 40

Hey guys! Just wanted to post for anybody out there interested in the reckless 40’s who also have a KLX 300. They fit perfectly and look so good on this bike. I was able to use both of the included cleats to mount the bottom straps to the bike instead of just wrapping the straps around the frame. On the right side I took an existing bolt from the rear brake and just put the cleat behind it. On the left side I used an existing hole and added one of the bolts the cleat kit came with.

It mounts very nicely especially with my Kemi Moto rear rack.

I will say putting together the bags is kind of a bitch and I had a hard time with the self starting nuts, ended up getting them started by hand then impacting them down to get the teeth to dig into the base.

Other than that, super happy with how it came out and I’m so excited for moto camping this summer!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Purchased a brand new 2026 KLX300 today!

I posted a couple of days ago about a used 2021 KLX300. The guy misplaced the title and is going to apply for a new one. I said screw it, and bought a new 2026 today.

2026 KLX300 first oil change

Just did my first oil and filter change at 608 miles. Decided to cut open the oil filter to see what was in there. Pretty typical IMO on the amount of stuff in the filter after break-in. What does everyone elese think?

Is this 2021 KLX300 a good buy?

I am going to take a look at this KLX300 on Saturday. It has about 1600 miles. Its got some minor trail damage, but doesn’t seem major. The only thing I noticed from the pictures was the scrape on the stator cover. The owner said it was indeed a scrape from a fall that bent the shift lever. I have ridden dirt before, I know it’s probably not a huge deal. Just wanted to see from the community, if I pick this up for $3800 to $4000, is that a fair purchase? I have owned many bikes, but the only dual sport I have had was a 2000 Kawi Super Sherpa that I had a LOT of fun on. There are new ones in my area for MSRP of under $6000. So my question is, would it be worth saving the money on the used bike, or just go new?

Is this a vent? Or am I missing a bolt?

Found a small amount of coolant had leaked from this spot under the water pump after attempting to start with dead battery, got a couple cranks then died. Charged the battery and warmed up the bike and no leaks that I can tell. is this a pressure vent?

Trying to get some opinions from fellow klx owners on the engine noise. First startup of the season. Thanks for the help!
