Joost Klein 4/20 experience - Vancouver

So I’ve noticed many people talking about having brutal experiences in their Joost concerts. I want to say outright how sorry I am for the experiences you’ve had and pray to whoever is listening that your next show is better. No one deserves to be treated like garbage at an event they’ve paid to be at but it’s especially disgraceful when the whole event is centred around unity. It seems not enough of Joosts listeners actually listen to the songs theyre listening to (which is fine, just don’t be an ass.)

On a happier note I did want to come on here and hopefully give some hope to folks worrying about younger concert-goers and Joost fans. My good experience doesnt negate anyone’s bad experience, I only wanted to spread some positive today and let you know his shows are far from all bad.

I got to go to Joosts 4/20 show in Vancouver which was 10/10. I met up with an online friend and we showed up in line at roughly 2pm to a group of ~10 chilling out. People were playing Joosts songs off their phone and someone even brought a massive pink Canadian flag with joost on it to sign. Everyone was immediately very friendly and we laughed about our dedication for showing up so early. People were helping one another with final touches on outfits, some were making signs (myself included) and some were just talking. Some of us exchanged or gave away goods we had and I got a BUNCH of Kandi from one group. It was 4/20 and someone joked about tossing a joint on stage (which I think he did but it got swiped off stage by a crew member. So understandable however a part of me is like “danm, someone lost a joint”). Some folks kept to themselves but myself and many others mingled and met new fans. We ended up taking the flag and pinned it to the fence to get some shade from the blaring sun. Some of us smoked some joints for 4/20 and asked ourselves if we thought joost would smoke on stage (he didn’t but that would’ve been cool for people who don’t have asthma).

Around 3:30 more people showed up and by 5pm there was a solid lineup forming. At roughly 6:45 security came out and began sorting the priority and general access lines. Sadly the priority seats seemed kinda shitty by being significantly further back but most of the priority members headed for barricade anyways. Being one of the first 10 in the general line my friend and I were lucky enough to get barricade too. Sadly we didn’t dare leave for a moment because losing our spots felt like too much of a luxury to give up. The show officially began around 7:30-45 and started with ipadkid2001 opening. I had never heard his stuff before and really enjoyed it! A lot of his stuff included extremely popular music from the last 20 years (think California girls and never gonna give you up) along with a LOT of meme references. He had the crowd laughing and a lot of people were chanting along with popular clips he used. DJ Chool came on next and went absolutely WILD on stage which really got everyone riled up. Idk what it was about him but he got the crowds energy from 90% to 110%. When Joost came out, 10000%. Everyone lost their minds. I remember there was a very young boy next to me and his mom who seemed a little jarred and like she didn’t know what to do. I made sure she was doing okay and she was like “idk if I belong here?? I came for him?” And I asked if she was enjoying the music and she said yes to which I said “Then you’re welcome here. PLUR, girl. Peace, love, unity, rave!” And gave her one of the beaded bracelets I was gifted while outside. I really hope I didn’t misread the situation but she seemed to be having a great time after so I think I did okay :) Joost did ask the crowd to not throw things on stage after the joint was tossed and everyone obeyed for the rest of the show. It was absolutely tight and packed but if you plan to go then I HIGHLY recommend getting to know the people around you. Joosts concert was 60% of my night, the people who came were the other 40%. If there is one night of your life in which you completely live in the moment, let it be this concert.

Side note, if you were there and seen a girl in blue pants absolutely eat shit 10 minutes before doors opened, that was me! I did literally shed blood, sweat and tears at that show. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

What size crowds usually have crowd crush at Joost shows?

Im going to the Chicago show at The Salt Shed and im very nervous about crowd crush towards the front 😢 The venue is rather large so Im hoping crowd crush wont be an issue but I just don’t know

Do people not know what moshing is anymore

To preface: I am NOT talking about those that push their way to the front for a better view then never move. That is rude and inconsiderate. But had a few younger folks at the seattle show get upset at me and those around me for moshing, calling us “insane” or “no one else is bouncing around you need to stop”. Genuinely so confused when this was in the center of the pit. If you are there you are going to get bumped into and roughed up a little.

I’ve seen pits get too crazy and this didn’t seem like that either from where I was. People were very respectful and checking in on each other/helping those up that fell (which happens! just be aware of it and help when it does!)

Granted I was near back middle and not near the crowd crushing at the front.. so I can’t speak on that. If people are punching and ripping stuff off of you that is a step too far.

Thoughts on this? I’ve never had a mosh pit crowd be like this.

Is it true that all the voice episodes with English subtitles are gone

Hi! I haven’t had a chance to watch any of The Voice episodes yet, and I saw on X that the person who added subtitles has taken the rest down. If this is you, I’d really appreciate it if you could consider putting them back. I didn’t even get the chance to watch a single episode, and now I might have to watch it in Dutch, which I’m not fluent in yet. If anyone could tell me another site or place where I can get English subtitles, that would be amazing. Thank you!

Do yall think he would enjoy a box of hagelslag

A nice ol box of Dutch hagelslag… I doubt he’d take it but perhaps the simple sight of a Dutch childhood joy would be fun
