I want to go to the Winnipeg Folk Festival in July to see him play. I'm super excited no matter what but I was curious if anyone would know if I have a chance to say hi to him. I have some fanart I'd love for him to see, but I don't want to bring it if he doesn't really chat at festivals specifically. Thanks!

In the course of cleaning up the setlist threads for the UTPL Tour and adding video (UTPL Tour Thread Index), I put a bunch of the setlist doodles together. Kind of fun to see them all in one place now that Jesse's off the road until June. As discussed in the High Water Setlist Thread, that doodle seems to collect quite a few of the doodles that he used during the tour. We're missing a few, unfortunately. Would love to be able to supplement if anyone has the missing pieces.

If anyone has any idea what the symbols mean or wants to fashion a guess, I'd be fascinated to know. At the very least, they're fun. Wisconsin's one of my favorites, especially after he addressed the crowd and talked about his time in Wisconsin. (Think it's in the last set if you're looking in the full show video).

Hope it's okay to share this take here.. I consider myself a pretty big fan, love every album, know half by heart. Saw him at the capitol theater back in february, and I don't want to pick out an individual, but I think one or two or possibly three of his backing band members are holding him back from really sounding amazing. (also might need a sound guy cause the mix at the capitol for the band was a wall of sound. worst audio i've heard out of 40 or so shows i've seen there)

regardless i loved the show, had a great time, and i can't wait to see him again (got tix for the met). but i can't help but imagine how good he'd sound with a really solid band. he'd be able to improvise better with them during the more recent jam segments. he's popular enough where enough people would audition, and he could easily put a much better band together

and i'll just add that that guitarist really needs to stop doing the windmill every single show

anyway, apologies if this came off as negative.. Jesse Welles is one of my favorite songwriters ever, and i just hope to hear him sound better and better, whatever it takes

Here's an Instagram post from Scale Model Guitars, the custom shop in Nashville where Jesse takes his babies to be modified. I'm not a guitar person, but the folks in the comments here seem pretty dang psyched about this particular mod. I can't wait to hear what it sounds like! 😍

Hey! I love Jesse Welles. And I really love what he stands for in his music. And I saw a post here earlier trying to stand up against data centers in Ohio taken down by mods. Both sides make sense to me.

Mods work hard to curate a cool space to love and discuss Jesse Welles music (thank you mods!). And this isn’t a place to build a mass movement. And it’s a slippery slope of if you let one post like that happen it can become an avalanche online.

At the same time, being against things like big corporations screwing over common folks and against data centers feels like something most Jesse Welles fans would agree on? And the comments before it was deleted all seemed to be positive and willing to help sign an anti data center petition. And if ya don’t want to read it, it causes no harm to scroll past it or post a discussion to steer the sub.

But why can’t it have both? Isn’t that kinda antithetical to what his music is about if others taking action, like Jesse Welles, is forbidden here?

Don’t get me wrong, I want the sub to be mostly about his music and the legend himself. Not a platform for petitions. But it made me think about the contradictory nature of it all.

Thoughts?

I'm really excited to see what he plays at Highwater. It comes at an interesting time between tours with the album looming. Would love to see him preview a new song or a new feature of the tour. Anyone going or know where we can stream it?

Hey all, I’m trying to do some Jesse Welles covers and I need a harmonica, what would be the best key of Harmonica to play on? I already know how to play, been a little while and I lost my old one though. I just need the best all around key for most of his songs. Any help would be appreciated!
