TIL Peter Benchley, the author of the book that Jaws adapted, wrote 3 versions of the script for Spielberg, which were either rejected or heavily edited. Benchley got into an argument with Spielberg about the huge explosion at the end being unrealistic. This led to Benchley being thrown off the set.

Honest thoughts on Jaws 2?

I always hear how the first movie is a masterpiece and how 3 & 4 are dogshit, but what about 2? It's the least talked about installment in the franchise, and it isn't as bad compared to the last two sequels. What are your thoughts about it? And would you consider it canon to the story?

Jaws 3 is worse than Jaws 4. Here’s why.

My main problem with Jaws 3 is that it turns a masterpiece of cinema into a cheap 3D slasher no better than Friday the 13th Part 3 and Amityville 3D. The effects are abysmal, the characters are forgettable, and the story is demonstrably boring. And why - why in the big G in the sky is it set in sea world. Is there any way this advertisement would work in any way possible?!?
Jaws 4 is bad, don’t get me wrong, but there are some great things about it too. The first 10 minutes - Sean’s death scene - is actually an amazing opening. Not as good as the opening of the first film, but I love the atmosphere, a genuinely great scare, the acting of Sean’s shock, and the contracting with the Carolers reminds me black Christmas. It’s incredibly well done, scary, and makes you think it’s going to be ok. I guess you could complain for a false sense of hope, but I still really like the opening. Also, I think the music is great, Lorraine Gary is great, the characters are so fucking bizzare I kind of love them, and - like the characters the plot is so stupid I love it. It’s my kind of so-bad-it’s-good. I can’t say the same with Jaws 3D. There are no redeeming factors with Jaws 3D.

Jaws 2 barrel

Just noticed something for the first time. Just after Brody gets fired he comes home and he has a yellow barrel planter outside his house. This has gotta be the barrel he rode to shore in from the first movie. He pauses and stares at it like he's remembering the first shark.

When I was a kid I saw my Dad watch deep blue sea and I mistakenly assumed it was one of the Jaws movies. Makes me wonder though what is the difference between movies?

Who had it worse? Quint or Philip Fitzroyce (Jaws 3)?

Two men who were eaten alive by giant sharks.

Which movie shark is the scariest?

The white shark of Jaws, the smart mako shark of Deep Blue Sea, or the Megalodon of The Meg?

I recall in the BTS portion of a Jaws DVD that it was said a moviegoer threw up in reaction to this scene. Wonder if any of you had a similar reaction.

Brucette was the most vicious shark in the series?

I know there is mixed love for Jaws 2, but man revisiting it as an adult. Brucette was unhinged. Much like Bruce. Just randomly attacking territorial. But between attacking Eddie, Helicopter, Marge. She didn’t care. If you read the novel, it has more depth to the Shark. But I think she’s more intimidating than what Bruce caused even though Bruce is intimidating.

Jaws 2 was more like a slasher, but it’s still a good movie in my opinion.

We’re given a few clues in the film. The side of his boat is chomped, and the bottom has a hole in it where a tooth is lodged. Also, Ben’s head pops out with his eye missing when Hooper investigates. You can see that Ben’s expression is of shock and fear. What do you figure happened here?
