At 8PM on Friday May 2nd 1986, A show unlike any program seen before or since was first broadcast to the world. Thrilling Variety Program: Operation! Takeshi's Castle aired from 1986-1989. During those three years, an army of civilian contestants battled challenges in attempt to storm the castle of "Beat" Takeshi. The program garnered international praise and viewership over the past 40 years. In honor of that achievement, We have brought a tribute unlike any seen before.

In this video you'll see clips from the series with rarely translated English subtitles, exclusive photos taken on the set of the original series and a conversation with 15 contestants who appeared in various episodes of the series' run. I was watching a Netflix show called *Ariyoshi Assists*; I wonder what other shows like that are on TV... I'm learning Japanese and I'd like to watch TV shows like that.
