How is Galgotias University curriculum? is it actually updated and relevant to industry?

I've been hearing a lot about how most Indian engineering colleges are stuck with the same curriculum from 10 years ago, and honestly it's one of my biggest concerns before committing to any university. So I wanted to ask specifically about Galgotias, do they actually update what they teach, or is it the same old stuff repackaged?

Like, are you learning things that matter in the real world, actual tech stacks, tools companies use, relevant frameworks, or is it mostly theoretical with barely any hands-on work? And what about labs and projects? Are they the kind that look good on a resume or just checkbox exercises you do to pass the semester?

And when it comes to placements, do companies actually care about your GPA, or do they care more about what you've built and what you know?

Basically I just want to know, will four years here genuinely make me job-ready, or am I going to have to self-teach most of the relevant stuff after graduation anyway?

What's the social scene like at Galgotias? Can you have fun while studying?

I’m considering Galgotias for engineering, but one thing I genuinely want to understand is what student life actually feels like beyond academics. I know college is obviously about studying and building a career, but I also don’t want the next four years to feel like constant pressure with no real experiences or social life.

How’s the overall environment at Galgotias when it comes to clubs, student communities, events, sports, and campus culture? Are there active societies where students genuinely participate and make connections, or is most of the focus only on academics? I’d also love to know about annual fests, weekend activities, and how students usually spend their free time on campus.

Most importantly, is it realistically possible to balance academics with having a good social life there? I’m hoping for a college experience where I can grow professionally while also making memories, meeting interesting people, and actually enjoying the journey instead of just surviving it.

Hey everyone. I've been researching engineering colleges in Delhi-NCR area, and Galgotias keeps coming up as an option. But whenever I search for it on Reddit or Quora, I mostly see negative reviews from people saying things like "waste of fees" or "no placements" or comparing it unfavorably to NIT/IIT/DU.

Here's the thing though: I'm not planning to get into IIT (that ship has sailed), and my local college options are limited. Galgotias is within my budget and my parents would prefer if I go there because it's close to home.

I want honest feedback:

  • Are placements really that bad? Or is it like most colleges where you get placed if you actually prepare for interviews?
  • Is the infrastructure decent enough for engineering?
  • What's the actual campus/hostel situation?
  • Any current students here? What's your genuine experience (not Instagram posts)?

I'm not looking for the college to change my life. I just want to know if it's a reasonable choice or if I'm making a big mistake financially. Parents are already stressed about the money, so if it's genuinely a bad choice, I want to know now before confirming admission.

Hi everyone, I’m currently trying to decide between CSE, ECE, and Mechanical at Galgotias University, and I’m leaning towards CSE but still a bit unsure. I wanted to get a real perspective from students who are already studying there.

Specifically for CSE, I’m curious about how it compares to other branches in terms of placements—does it actually have better opportunities? Also, how is the overall coding culture on campus? Do students actively work on projects, participate in competitions, and build real skills, or is it mostly limited to academics?

I’d also like to understand what kind of companies typically hire from the CSE branch and what the average package looks like in reality. How practical is the curriculum—does it focus more on theory, or do you get hands-on exposure as well?

Another thing on my mind is whether there are enough clubs, hackathons, or coding-related opportunities to grow beyond classes. And with so many students opting for CSE these days, is there a concern about oversaturation affecting opportunities?

I’m trying to make a thoughtful decision, so any honest insights or personal experiences would really help.
