May empties

May empties

Hey, found this subreddit a few months ago and have been following/ lurking since. Really love the concept of using products fully before I buy new things.

My empties for this month.

I have already repurchased the loreal no haircut cream, what a holy grail product. I swear by it from 2021 maybe.

The laneige moisturizer was a sample given to me by my friend. It's really light and hydrating, perfect for summers. I would put it before my makeup and it would look super dewy. But not so affordable for me and I believe the ponds blue cream can give the same feeling at a cheaper price point.

The underrated sunscreen. Idk if it's any good but I mix it with my foundation and apply everyday because I like it's consistency and how well it mixes with my foundation. I have one more of it left so I'll finish that but maybe go to another sunscreen in future. If someone has good mineral sunscreen recs, let me know!

The nivea deodrant. Very nice, gets the job done. I would pair it with glycolic acid and now I have no ingrowns and no body odour also.

I've only recently added a deo to my routine. And Dove pink used to be my go to as I loved the fragrance

Bought the Chemist At Play for the reduction in pigmentation promise. Initially I wasnt a believer. Almost felt like there's zero change with use of product.

In fact, I've left a review to that effect about a month ago.

But with consistent use-2/3 months regular use- I do definitely see an improvement and evening of skin tone now.

Have bought my second bottle now. Might repurchase depending on feedback from second bottle.

PROs:- evening of skin.tone with consistent use
CONs:- omg the fragrance. Why do all the fragrances smell of a men's salon from the 90s. Heavy , overwhelming cool aqua type fragrance. Yuck.

  1. SoTrue CeraCalm Moisturiser - This is more suitable for combination - dry skin, and is much thicker and moisturising than its counterpart called CeraMine that's formulated for oily skin. It's white and thick in texture, and also moisturises for long. It spreads easily but takes a while to absorb, which is understandable owing to the thick texture. It doesn't have a strong smell and a little goes a long way too.

Rating - 5/5, WRP only if I have no other moisturiser to try

  1. Arata Hair Gel - This is a beautiful, beautiful gel. It's thin but goopy, not very slimy and styles my hair beautifully. I was able to scrunch well once the hard cast was formed. The curls hold for atleast a week before they start falling apart. I loved it. I'm just sad the 150 g tube isn't available anymore, I'd surely buy it if it was available.

Rating - 10/5, WRP for sure.

  1. Aqualogica Illuminate+ Hydra Gel Moisturiser with Wild Berries and Alpha Arbutin - Reviews rave about this product so I got it. It's a nice, cool gel, absorbs quickly and hydrates well. It also has a pleasant berry smell, and has Alpha Arbutin which contributes to a slight brightening effect after application as well. The 200 g jar takes a long while to finish. The packaging is colourful and pretty, but the lid is a bit bulky. If you ask me, the packaging is a bit too secure and you have to get used to opening it a certain way. The length of the lid sides is a lot; you have to lift it more after unscrewing than you would for the average cream, and you have to align the lid properly with the tub when closing it too. It bothered me a bit but only on days when I was in a hurry. The product itself is pretty alright.

Rating - 4/5, WRP if it's at a discounted rate or I have no other moisturisers to try.

  1. Plum 3% Vitamin C, Peptide and Caffeine Eye Cream with Mandarin - I have under eye darkness so I bought this to use as my day eye cream, while using Beauty of Joseon Retinal Cream at night. I alternate usage because using both at the same time can weaken your skin barrier. It is thin, white and lightweight, but does require some massaging in. I can't say I've experienced some extremely drastic changes in under eye darkness, but there has been some lightening. I have a couple of backups of this, and will use them before deciding whether to continue purchasing this, as caffeine and peptide creams take time to show results.

Rating - 3/5, the jury is out on whether I'll repurchase.

  1. Plum Mandarin and Vitamin C 15% serum - I've already reviewed it in my previous post, here -

https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianPanPorn/s/t1VrurL5G2

  1. Plum Lash Serum Eyeliner in shade 02 - Blue Ming - It is a pretty dark blue shade, the formula felt watery to me though. The applicator tip is made of nylon, and I'm used to applying eyeliner with a thin brush, so it was a bit hard to use because I kept poking my eyelid with it, causing watery eyes. The formula isn't thick enough to create a sharp shape (atleast for me), and it sheers out on the skin too. If you try to load your applicator with more product to combat the sheering out problem, it ends up clotting on the SIDES of the wing you are trying to make, while the wing itself sheers out. It does stay for pretty long until you wash it off.

Rating - 1/5, WNRP. I got the Lakme Insta - Eyeliner and, in my opinion, it's a much better purchase than this. The Cobalt Blue shade it has is far more vibrant and unlike anything I've ever seen in the market. It also has a brush applicator which is much more comfortable to use.

  1. L'Oreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid - I received this as a freebie from a kind Reddit seller. Hyaluronic acid works well for my skin, and this one is transparent and watery in texture. Toward the end of its usage, the product started turning yellow and smelling a bit citrusy, I'm not sure why. It plumped my skin well and hydrated it too. However, I will not be repurchasing it as I liked the Brillare one better.

Rating - 4/5, WNRP.

  1. Maybelline Baby Lips Tinted Lip Balm in shade Berry Crush - Thick, waxy and berry scented, this left a light, shiny, sheer, fresh, pink tiny on my lips that was also buildable. It's not as moisturising as I'd have liked for it to be, but it's nice under or over lipstick and quite buildable.

Rating - 4/5, WRP, I liked it.

  1. Maybelline Vinyl Ink in shade Lippy - This is a beautiful warm brick red shade, that suited me a lot. Upon initial application, it felt a bit heavy, but I got used to it after a few days and also realised how much product works for me. After that, I just started swiping the doe - foot applicator at the mouth of the tube and applying. That worked better for me.

It smells like chocolate. It can also feel sticky at first, so it's important not to smack your lips together as we usually do after applying lipstick. The stickiness goes away after 15-20 minutes. It has a gloss as well that stays for well over an hour, provided you don't eat or drink anything. The gloss eventually fades but the tint remains and it is indeed long lasting.

Edit - Might I also mention that I used this as a liquid blush to help pan it quicker, and it works beautifully as a blush too. Gives a very natural and dewy finish, blends easily, and it made my look more cohesive as well.

Rating - 4/5, WRP, only if it's available at a discounted rate. It retails around Rs. 400-600 depending on the shade, and I am not sure if I want to spend that much for it. The shade is lovely and I liked the formula as well.

  1. Plum Rice Water and 2% Niacinamide Hybrid Sunscreen -

I have already reviewed it here -

https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianPanPorn/s/t1VrurL5G2

  1. Parachute Advansed Body Lotion in variant Coconut Milk + Honey - It's a super lightweight, pleasant smelling lotion that spreads very easily and moisturises beautifully. It's most suited for those with oily skin, or those looking for a lightweight, non - greasy lotion. I have used this even in the peak of summer with absolutely no issue. It's super affordable as well. I'd just not say it's suitable for travel because the texture is quite liquidy and I'm not sure if the cap can hold the product well. I did tape it during travel and it was alright.

Rating - 10/5, WRP for sure

  1. Scalpe Pro Anti-Dandruff Shampoo - This bad boy is a staple in my routine. I've reviewed it here -

https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianPanPorn/s/HY2qa1QaV9

  1. Aqualogica 5 Barrier+ Moisturising Hydra Gel - It's a lot like the other Aqualogica Gel I've reviewed. I didn't find any specific differences in hydration or effects on the skin between both, so you can probably go for either one. The only difference was in the smell, and I enjoyed the smell of the Berry one more. This one smelled more like a men's deo or aftershave.

Rating - 4/5, WNRP because I enjoyed the other Berry variant more.

  1. Minimalist Oat Extract Gentle Cleanser - OOOOFF. What do I even say about this sweet baby? I thought I didn't like cleansers that don't foam. This sweetheart changed my mind. It's a gel like, smooth, silky texture that just melts onto your face when you add water. It cleaned my skin so effectively and beautifully without stripping it. It's the perfect cleanser for dry or sensitive skin. I was so sad when it got over. However, it's a very mild cleanser so if you have applied heavy makeup or sunscreen, please double cleanse with an oil cleanser first. It will not be able to remove those for you otherwise. If you ask me to write a sonnet on this product, I probably will. That's how much I love it.

Rating - 1000/5, WRP again and again.

  1. Miniso Vanilla Lip Balm - I got my husband to buy me this because it looked cute in the store. It can moisturise but only moderately hydrate, which means it's more occlusive than hydrating. It is hard and waxy and leaves a transparent sheen on the lips. It smells like a vanilla cupcake. There's also a slight cooling sensation when you apply it on the lips, and I personally wasn't sure what to think of that.

Rating - 3/5, WNRP.

This, finally concludes the backlog of empties I had to review. Hopefully, I'll be able to review empties for the next couple of months on time and stay on track. Thank you so much for reading! 🥰

I have been on a mission to finish all my products (some half used, never used, about to finish) and I vowed to not buy any new product in this category till I finish these. And honestly, the left products were so much that I did not buy any new product at all.

Product list:
Face Wash / Cleansers-
Himalaya Purifying Neem Face Wash (x2 variants)
Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash (Berry Blast)
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

Body Wash / Shower Gels
Palmolive Aroma Absolute Relax - WRP
Bath & Body Aromatherapy Body Wash (eucalyptus variant) - WRP
Pears Naturale Aloe Vera Body Wash - WNRP

Oral Care
Listerine Cavity Fighter Mouthwash - WRP

Hair Care
L’Oréal Extraordinary Oil Serum - WRP
Pantene Pro-V Miracles Collagen Repair Conditioner - WRP
Dove Intense Repair Shampoo (travel size) - WNRP (does nothing to hair)
L’Oréal Paris Hair Mask (2 tub) - WRP

Body Lotions / Creams
Bath & Body Works “In the Stars” Body Lotion - WRP
Bath & Body Works “Hello Beautiful” Body Lotion - WNRP, fragrance is very strong
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream - WRP (Holy grails)
Dove Intensive Cream - WRP (heavy so good for winters)

Skincare (Moisturizers / Sunscreens)
Dot & Key Ceramides & Hyaluronic Skin Barrier Repair Moisturizer - WRP
Minimalist Sunscreen SPF 50 - WNRP (leaves white cast)
Dot & Key Vitamin C Sunscreen SPF 50 (WNRP- does nothing for protection)
Nivea Roll-on Deodorant - WNRP as found better alternative in Chemist at Play roll on

Fragrance / Mists / Perfumes
Victoria’s Secret Body Mist (small size) - WRP
Zara Perfume – “Lightly Bloom” - WRP (however doesn’t stay long, but very summery fragrance)
Body Mist – “A Thousand Wishes” - WNRP (too strong)

Some were really hard to finish like the Pears body wash - so I used it to wash my clothes , some creams I used on my body instead of face - but I did not let anything go to waste.

Let me know if you want any specific reviews!

Slowing down to appreciate my pan progress so far. ☁️

Started this journey in November and it’s been so satisfying to see what my dry/sensitive skin actually loves vs. what’s just hype.

If you’re looking for recommendations, I’m happy to share my views. Just ask! 🤍

Random Empties

  1. TonyMoly Mochi Toner: It was hydrating for sure but did not suit my skin. I use it on my hands and feet during night. Would buy if on sale

  2. Plum 10℅ Niacinamide serum : I loved it initially as it fixed my inflammed skin barrier. But I got tiny bumps after 2 months, so I stopped using it. Wouldn't repurchase

  3. Cosrx AC collection Calming liquid Mild: This really cleared up my skin. Got it on clearance sale, but can't find it in India at a reasonable price. So probably won't be able to purchase.

  4. BRING GREEN Tea Tree Cica Soothing Toner : Hydrated my skin so well. I already have bought it multiple times. This is soooo worth it for me.

  5. BeBodywise 20℅ Urea Body Lotion : This is my staple body lotion. It does feel dry-ish. Creates an almost powdery film on the skin, so might not feel pleasant for everyone, but I use it at night on my very dry hands and feet. I already boughy this again, and will again and again!

  6. BeBodywise 10℅ Urea Body Lotion : This is my daily body lotion as well. I alternate between this and 20℅ Urea one, use it depending on how dry my skin feels. These two are my holy grail body lotions now. Would repurchase again and again!

  7. DermaCo Hypochlorous Anti-Acne Hydrating spray : This is such a slept on product of this brand. The spray is so good too. Like it feels very nice. Way better than the minimalist one for me as I have dehydrated skin also. Would buy it again for sure.

  8. Deconstruct Lip Sleeping Mask : Grainy AF. What was wrong with this product I don't even know. It did keep my lips soft, but I can't get over the grainy texture. I would definitely not buy it again.

Hope this helps!

🌸Engage w5- the best perfume I own. Smells even better than the costlier ones. Been using this since the past 3 years. WRP

🍓The body shop strawberry hand cream- smells amazing, hydrating and non sticky but a bit pricey. You can go for the Nykaa one if you want something cheaper.

👁️Maybelline tattoo liner- did not like it at all, dries quickly, I prefer liquid liners. WNRP

☀️Neutrogena hydroboost sunscreen- very lightweight, blends easily, no white cast. Works much better than the OG neutrogena which stung my eyes real bad. WRP

Emptiesss

DOT AND KEY SUNSCREEN:

very light creamy texture. will blend easily. but came to know that the SPF rating isnt right. so a bit doubtful about this one. will not repurchase

ARATA SHAMPOO

a very light sulphate free shampoo with a pleasant smell. it is so light that wont work alone or need a lot of amount to wash off oil. i usually paired it up with my dandruff shampoo. worked that way. will not be repurchasing

WISHCARE LIP BALM

first lipbalm to impress me tbh. the tint is good. its moisturizing. an easy 4/5 for me. one less for the times it became a bit chalky on my lips after a long day and no reapplication (don't know if its my issue or the lip balm's). Will be repurchasing

MOXIE LEAVE IN CONDITIONER:

got a sample and LOVE this one. will definitely buy the bigger one.
