Bought my first Indian (and first bike).

I bought a Scout Bobber and I’m loving this bike. As a true novice, someone who has never sat on a bike at all, I can say that this bike is not too big (engine wise) for beginners. I did a 900km trip home and saw some amazing things.

How cool would it be for Indian to break away from Harley's shadow by releasing an in-line 4-cylinder motorcycle a la 1927's Indian Ace?

I was saddened to hear about the company stopping production of the Indian FTR, and instead focus on V Twin cruisers, and in the same breath announce they are working on a three-wheeler.

It seems they're just mirroring Harley-Davidson. Which is disappointing, because we already have Harley-Davidson.

I'd love to see them bring back the 4-cyl Indian Ace, as well as a new platform inspired by the FTR to compete against sport bikes and naked bikes.

Simplify the current lineup to Scout, Chief, and Challenger—Indian REALLY doesn't need four entirely separate product lines of touring cruisers—and then introduce two new, performance-based platforms focused on segments that Harley is avoiding (wide-open gap!) built from the lessons learned of the FTR (new Scrambler or Adventure bike--their original problem was that they weren't focused on off-road or on-road and were kinda in-between) and the Ace platform (agile 4-cyl Sport Bike, Naked Bike, and GT touring platform).

I want to see some innovation in American motorcycle companies. If companies like Yamaha and Ducati can be in those segments, so can we.

They're REALLY focusing the wrong demographic, in my opinion. They need to win over younger audiences and let Harley take the 65+ crowd. Why? Well, in 10 years, who is going to be still riding bikes?

RIP practice cones

Got in some practice weaving, figure 8s, & u-turns today! Definitely ran over some cones... 😂

Any tips for avoiding jerky movement in slow speed maneuvers? I don't know if it's a clutch or throttle control issue on my part. I didn't have a ton jerking in the MSF course, but I was on a smaller bench seat Kawasaki.

2000 Gilroy Silver Cloud

This is my 2000 Indian Silver Cloud. I had put a lot of time into it for modifications. Eventually sold it back to the guy I bought it from.

Indian Motorcycle Riders Group?

There is no local chapter near me but there is a dealer who would sponsor, host meetings etc. I'm thinking of starting it up because I love to ride, and I'm comfortable riding and leading groups.

Any advice, or experiences to share on this?

My first Indian

I’ve drooled over this bike since its release in 2025. I just wasn’t a big fan of the white, and I’ve never been a red anything type of guy. So this year, with the new color choice… I finally bit the bullet…

The Indian Chief Dark Horse Has One of the Best Styles on the Road

The Indian Chief Dark Horse has to be one of the best-looking cruisers out right now. It has that perfect balance of classic American motorcycle styling and modern aggressive design.

The blacked-out finish, chunky tires, low stance, and massive V-twin give the bike a serious presence. It’s the kind of motorcycle that instantly grabs attention whether it’s parked at a gas station, bike night, or just sitting at a red light.

One of the coolest things about the Chief Dark Horse is how many people stop to admire it. Riders and non-riders alike seem drawn to the bike. People walk over to ask questions, compliment the look, or just take a closer look at the details.

A lot of cruisers look good, but the Chief Dark Horse has a style that really stands out without trying too hard. It looks clean, muscular, and timeless all at once.

Indian really nailed the design on this bike.

I originally went in to get new tires for my 22 Scout Bobber. I saw this absolute stunner, and new I had to have her. Sunny 70 degree weekend means all of the break in miles.

Scout bobber 2025/2026 seat

Have a couple questions!

  1. is the 2025/2026 seat the same comfort level as the older generations?

  2. are 2025 and 2026 seat the same?

  3. what are my option on upgrading the seat? I have a 2026 scout bobber. Don’t really like the cross stitching I see on Saddlemen and Corbin brands, I want something like the comfort + or as close to the stock look as possible with added comfort/ padding ofc.
Bonus if there’s a matching passenger seat as well.

Thanks!

Question about forward controls

Has anybody purchased these? I’m a little bit taller of a guy, and I’m finishing up my 23 chief dark horse build.

I’ve got mid controls now. I really prefer to have forward controls, but looking at the Indian brand it looks like it’s maybe 2-3 inches more forward tops.

I can’t imagine that’s much of a difference. Anybody switched to forward controls and can vouch for the level of difference?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to show my Indian Chief Dark Horse and also ask for some advice.

I am looking for a wide drag bar handlebar for my bike, but it needs to be street legal in Germany. Ideally, it should come with ABE, TÜV approval, or proper documents for registration. I really like the aggressive look of a wider drag bar handlebar, but I want to avoid buying something that could cause problems during TÜV inspection or with the police here in Germany. Does anyone have recommendations for brands, specific models, or shops that sell approved drag bar handlebars for the Indian Chief? Photos, experiences, or advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

(got me some help from ChatGpt for english translation)

Bought my first Indian

Hey guys!

I just bought my first Indian motorcycle a 2017 Indian scout sixty and I thought I'd post here to look for some advice

First off, I'm not sure what I should upgrade first I'm pretty sure the motorcycle is completely stock. I'm having some nervousness riding on the highway so I thought maybe buying a windshield or a new seat might help that? Unsure what are you guys think? I thought maybe saddlebags might be also a good first buy. I have zero storage right now 😂

Secondly, is there any groups that I could join to find a bit more of a community? I live in Orlando so I was looking for where everyone is hanging out at or even an online groupchat somewhere.

Had her for about a month now. Walked into the dealership just looking because I was torn between the Scout Bobber and a Triumph Bonneville T120. As soon as I sat on the Scout and the sales person came up I just said “Run the paperwork before I change my mind”. Best. Decision. Ever. Break in period was a breeze and have zero regrets. Funnest bike I’ve ever ridden.

Oil change 116 thunderstroke

Hi, how much oils does your 116 thunderstroke normally take? I just changed my oil for the first time and added 4.5 qts, I didn’t even see it to the add oil line. I then added another half qt… and still don’t see it to the add line…. Am I doing something wrong?
