God forbid a competent shooter lets off a couple follow-up shots though.

Not sure I want to add a light to my home defense gun yet. But I figured I should at least have the option. Do you all run weapon lights for home defense?
Found myself a quite nice job down in the UoI area. What are my option for FFLs and/or ranges in that area? Is it mainly kitchen counter FFLs or are there some more standard brick and mortar stores? I have a feeling the ranges would be fairly sparse and people opting to shoot on their own land instead of dealing with the general public. Only range/store I've found with some lazy googling was high caliber. Still kicking myself that I moved from one of the two counties actually trying to enforce the ban to the other.

I've been Googling and can find plenty of information about what is and isn't legal for adults with FOID cards, but am coming up empty on any sort of offical document that outlines the restrictions for minors who have FOID cards. So first off, if you are aware of such a document, please post it and then ridicule me for sucking at Google.
I ask because my 17-year-old has his FOID card and I want to make sure he doesn't wind himself up in legal hot water for doing something that I should have known wasn't kosher.
I know that a minor can't buy handgun ammo, and presumably not rifle ammo, and I know that he can't buy a pistol for sure, and maybe not a rifle either. I know that he can't get a CCL. But what about transporting? Like if I call up my kid and say "pick up the Ruger 10/22 and Mark IV from our house and meet me at the range", and he puts both of those guns into his car's trunk, in separate containers, unloaded but with nearby magazines and ammo, and then drives to the range by himself. Could any of that cause him legal trouble were he to get stopped and searched?
Yes, I realize that the safest course of action is just for me to be present any time guns are involved, but logistically that's no different than if he didn't have a FOID card at all. So I guess my related question is, what rights or privileges does a FOID card give a minor compared to a minor without one?
Completed ftwop in February and appealed just got card back April 2026
