I own a $15,000 paper weight

We're not covered by Hyundai because we're the 2nd owner. The dealer took the whole engine apart so it could be inspected by 3rd party warranty company. The replacement engine is denied because of carbon buildup. We just bought the car used in June of 2025. Now I got a giant $15,000 hole in my pocket, and no car to drive. Now, what would you do?

Shopping around for cars and saw this? On carfax these are selling for 10k+. Is there something wrong with 2020 model? I usually drive Honda but wanted to branch out!

Thanks :)

Had an event today, turns out the utility mode can make a lot of people jealous if you have your coffee machine in there!

Kona 2024 got broken into

Hey, I just found my car like this an hour ago. Is it a new thing for Konas to get hacked in or something?

I always keep my key in a anti theft signal blocking pouch.

The car behaved strangely right after I found it like this. The car wouldn't respond to the lock and unlock buttons. My car just remained unlocked. I had to start the car for the key to get responsive again.

After I turned off the car, I pressed the door lock button on my door and it triggered the car alarm. The thief took off with maybe $6. Couldn't be their greatest haul.

Introducing my Kona

Got my 26 SE about a month ago. It is the ultimate girly pop mobile. Made the switch from a Jeep 2015 jeep renegade with a little over 100k miles. Had some inheritance money fortunately/unfortunately and since I commute 40 minutes to work and had not kept up on maintenance with the jeep whatsoever I thought it was genuinely smart to just buy a new car. I’m soooo glad I actually took some time online to look cuz I was dead set on a Bronco for a while and did not know they weren’t the greatest😅. I came across the Kona’s and saw nothing but good things said about them. I’m a little nervous about how well these do in the snow? I’d love to hear your experiences.

Edit: I need to know. Who agrees it’s green not yellow?😂

Hello all,
I’m having a tough time deciding between getting the Kona petrol vs hybrid. I do approx 13,000km per year, of which highway would be 60% of it.
I would like to own the car for as long as I can (i know nothing about cars and brands but my ideal would be 20 years) but am unsure on the hybrid just because I don’t know what the price of the hybrid battery pack replacement will be since there’s not a market for it yet. The salesperson couldn’t tell me more info with it not being a problem yet since people are still under their 8 year warranty, but has said he assumes pricing is around $10k (AUD) to replace it present day. A few people I’ve spoken to have said that there will be a market for it in the future and that the pricing would come down by then.

I’ve only test driven the hybrid but really like the feel, the fuel efficiency, and the low carbon emission from it.
I feel that I should get the petrol because the parts will be more easily accessible if I need a replacement, and thus, would last longer to hopefully 20 years.

Have any of you had the dilemma between choosing petrol or hybrid?

Thanks all :)

Volume keeps randomly reseting to zero when turning up the knob

Is anyone else experiencing this? When we try to turn up the volume from that knob, it keeps going down. It doesn't happen on the wheel volume control, just that one.

My first Hyundai!

Thought I'd share a pic so I can look back and remember how clean it once was.

Only issue I've had is running over a bloody nail on the way home. £30 puncture repair.

Coming from a Yaris Cross. Big jump. Just feels so much nicer inside and to drive. Very happy with everything except Bluelink. I have Plus which has remote services but the only options are lock/unlock, beep the horn and put hazards on? 🤣

I was expecting remote climate change. It's the N Line S. I guess it's not available in the UK?

Speaking of tech, trying to update over USB. Left it plugged in around an hour but still "preparing". Does it start from scratch when you turn off the car or carry on?

It has been about one week since I bought my Hyundai Kona. I want to ensure that scratches are not shown and the new car look stays for longer. What do you suggest I should get on my car. Can I get ceramic coating, or wax or something done to ensure the car looks as good as new for longer?

Front License Plate Holder

So I’ve got a 2025 Kona that I bought in Florida last year, and about 6 months ago I moved to Minnesota (for family) and now we need a front license plate holder and we got one from the dealership of course….but it’s missing from the move. I feel that maybe I’m being too picky in wanting the OEM holder/bracket….what do y’all think?

Hello everyone! I bought a 2019 Hyundai Kona Hybrid that has about 60,000 km (roughly 37,000 miles) on it. I am very happy with it.

While browsing used cars of the same generation on some websites, I noticed that many many of them are selling at around 70,000 km.

I’m wondering if there are any known issues with the engine in the Hybrid model—or any known expensive maintenance that could explain so many of them selling around this kilometers? Or is it a coincidence?

For those who own one (hybrid first generation Kona) how many kilometers have you reached with yours?

Thanks for your insights!

Hi all! This post is regarding my girlfriends 2020 Hyundai Kona. It currently has about 60k miles and is a turbo. Every once in a while, not too often, when she accelerates the car stutters before it accelerates at a normal pace for just a little bit. I have no idea what this could be or if it’s anything to worry about at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Better Alternative to OEM Crossbars?

I have a 2026 that I’m looking to install 1. crossbars on for 2. kayaking , 3. skiing and 4. rooftop bike rack. What brands/models would you recommend for all four? Loving the cyber grey.

10,000km dealer maintenance necessary?

I just hit 10,000km in my new Kona and now Hyundai is spamming me to bring my car in for routine maintenance. Is this maintenance necessary especially to maintain the warranty?

It feels like a cash grab from Hyundai especially since they reached out to me months ago with a pre-booked appointment.

I do know oil changes are very important and I have gotten the oil changed at about 6,000km at a local oil change shop because I'm not paying dealer prices and losing my car all day.

CarPlay issue 25

In my girl friends Kona only her phone will connect to car play via Bluetooth. I can get it with a cord and that’s it. We both have an iPhone 16 so I’m not sure what I could be doing wrong. I’ve reset everything and am still having this issue.
