Started reading the first book (On Bsailisk Station) and am very confused about the technology aspects. Help would be appreciated!
So how do the shields work exactly? The book description makes literally no sense to me, but I always heard people prasing it. ELI5 for me, please?
Then the "gates" and "jump points" - those make mostly sense to me, but I am still kinda consufed as to why we don’t only use the faster form of travel, etc...
