Hello Everyone.
I am going to apologize in advance as this is definately not my field, sorry if I get the terminology wrong.
Ok, so I have two wires that were attached to a reed switch that ultimately communicate the status to a garage door opener that I am using in a completely different application. The reed switch is not longer there and has been cut off, just leaving me with the two wires that I would like to connect to a relay.
I need to connect two wires from a low voltage LED (about 1.5 volts)...when the light is on, I need to tell the garage door opener device that it is OPEN (Reed switch equivalent of being disconnected. When the light is off, CLOSED (reed switch equivalent of it being connected)
I was thinking I could do this with a low voltage relay that is set to normally closed, that way when the LED comes on, it will tell the relay to send the OPEN signal. Basically the LED is connected to the relay, the relay is connected to the two exposed wires mentioned above on the smart garage door opener.
What relay do I need and if responding, please provide a link to it so I can check it out.
Please note, it's just the relay I would like to discuss, not the reason for using a smart garage door opener and changing that as this is for a specialized application that works great and solves all my problems, I just need the LED on/off status to communicate back with the smart garage door opener.
