It seems to me that a lot of people aren’t made aware of the continuous racism that occurs on this campus. Particularly against black students in which issues get swept under the rug and treated as if it’s another day. What I will say to any black parents or black students who choose to spend their hard-earned money on an education here. I suggest you think again for the safety and mental sanity of yourself or your child. Let’s start with issues with racial slurs being written on a car targeted towards black people. In 2025, what was done, you may ask? Nothing did I also mention those who committed the act were caught on camera, however Hofstra didn’t care enough to do anything , the used the excuse the cameras aren’t good? When an outside source has their faces and we all know there’s a multitude of cameras in the parking lot and surrounding areas if they really cared to search, also public safety didn’t care either. Not even as much as an email condemning what occurred, considering the number of black people that live on campus. Then fast-forward to 2026 April, A student and his two friends felt bold enough to use the N slur towards a worker in a school space. I’m assuming nothing will be done about that either … what I see is a domino effect, had those students/participants been condemned in the fall semester of 2025 for writing the most derogatory slur on a car … maybe this student wouldn’t be bold enough to openly say a word that is tied to years of oppression and pain for black people. And I believe if other slurs toward black people are allowed to be openly stated, it won’t be long before others feel like it ok to start targeting other minority groups. My question is, why doesn’t Hofstra care about its black students? It’s not enough to say “we have black organizations or we have black students here,” it's like a bandaid statement, almost to devalue any black student that speaks up, and let’s not get started in the classroom, where that may occur with professors and faculty that have their own biases, which people have spoken about on TikTok. I’ll also link evidence below (hopefully they won’t take it down). It seems Hofstra only embraces the black demographic when it’s convenient, such as making them the poster boy to showcase their false presence of a diverse and welcoming community, or when the basketball team is winning. I’m hoping that this post will bring not only awareness, but also for others to share their experiences, and most importantly, for those young black kids or adults continuing education, whether from America or international, to second-guess their decision and not give money to a school that doesn’t value their black students lives but only values their money. And I could really care less if you don’t see it on campus because regardless these issues are occurring.
