I haven't been part of this fan community in many years so I don't really know if I'm kicking the hornet's nest by asking this. I was a big fan of them last decade, but I fell off the hype train when MCID released. To this day I still consider that album one of my biggest disappointments in music.

Sometime around that time I noticed Johnny being a little weird online. I don't remember the specifics, but at some point in 2019 I remember him being an asshole to me on Twitter so I just sort of checked out from the band entirely because I didn't even like their new stuff anyway.

Fast forward to today when I randomly had Serotonia recommended to me on YouTube and I got all nostalgic and started to listen to some songs in the last two albums (mixed opinions), looked up what people think of them, and I came across this subreddit. The shit I've read about him here is honestly very confusing and I can't really decide what to think because some of these posts are years old and there's a lot of deleted posts and comments and chopped up conversations.

So let me just ask: is he just a mentally ill guy who happens to be an asshole sometimes, or is it more serious than that? I don't really care about the asshole rockstar personality and I can stomach that. Anything that comes close to grooming or abuse is a hard pass for me, though.

Is there any substance to the claims of him being something along the lines of an abuser? I would really appreciate some context because again, much of what was in the threads discussing this three or so years ago is missing.

I’m a long time HS fan. Have seen them 13 times since 2017, and have continued to be a big fan even through some changes I haven’t loved. This new song brought the largest smile to my face with the guitar solo. Absolutely love it 🔥 That instrumental is a large reason why I love HS. Absolutely ecstatic.
