Rearranging living room allowed for Floki to have a wander on the table, this pleased him, as did the wax wormies!

Brainstorm: Cute Punny Hedgie Names

Art by NateDrawsArt

Many folks enjoy our new hoggies name “Quilliam” & it’s one I’ve seen around this community a few times & thought it was perfect & cute. I also see many Reggies & silly names like Quill Smith, Cactus, Brillo & offshoots of others using famous names (Quillem Dafoe)

What are some adorable & silly names you think would be good for a lil sharp potato? Maybe someone will find the perfect name for their new precious baby here ✨🦔✨

In cage Cams?!?

What cameras are y’all using in your cages to monitor your hedgies?! I’m looking to purchase like a pet cam or some sort of baby camera to setup in Mocha’s cage just to catch her doing cute stuff or just to watch her interact with her environment. What cameras have you guys used and how do you like it? Feel free to attach links

Enjoy some pic of my 8week old hedgie Mocha

Wild baby hedgehog suddenly appears

Hello all!

I live in a very rural area in Spain and two days ago I noticed two baby hedgehogs appear during the day, which is weird, as we have seen many of them at night, but never so little without a mom. I can't really tell their age, or if they are of "independent age" yet. This leads me to believe they may have been orphans, but I haven't the slightest clue about these little animals. I have tried to feed them a variety of things: strawberries, cat food/snacks and egg. They seem to like the egg especially.

Today, as I gave them some food, they made a weird sort of whisling noise, which I interpreted as some sort of distress call for their mom or something, but, like I say, I have 0 experience with hedgehogs. What should I do? I don't live in a country or an area that would have "experts" where I could take them. I don't mind them being around here and leaving them a little food every day, if that's what it takes, but I don't know how to care for them, especially since they are not pets, they are wild. I bought a bunch of dried bugs especially for hedgehogs so I have something more like their diet. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

wild hedgehog not moving or curling up when approached

Just saw a hedgehog (nighttime) in the grass but he did not move nor curled up when approached. We tried to look a bit at him with a soft light and he did not seem to have any visible injuries, his breathing also looked fine bur difficult to tell for sure. he moved for a bit before re-becoming frozen in place. Its a neighbourhood with quite a lot of cats outside but again no way to know if anything happened. He wasn’t huge but definitely wasn’t a baby. Any opinions would be welcome, we let him be for now but are planning to take the same way back to check up on him.

Just lost my best friend today.

These are just a few photos. I still don’t know how to process this loss. He was turning two years old on may 26th.

After having some tummy trouble a few days ago, I gave him a bath and monitored his activity. Once seeing things were fine again, things took a turn for the worse. My little guy had been sick for a while and didn’t start showing it until last night. When I brought him in the early morning to our vet they told me what little they could do, how it wouldn’t guarantee his survival, and the cost.

I had to make the hard choice of euthanizing Reggie “Blueberry Pie” Hedgehog.

This is my first night without him and I’m a mess. I keep thinking obsessively what if there’s something I could have done. And I just miss my friend. I want my friend back.

I love you Reggie. I’ll think of you always.

Did I make the right choice in food

I was at PetSmart standing in the cat food section for 30 minutes trying to figure out what food to get for my hedgehog and I ended up getting the Nulo chicken and turkey for him was it the right option??

In memory of my forever spiny best friend, Mochi.

My baby girl was such a fighter who survived a cancerous tumor in her uterus but unfortunately Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome was what took her from me. She was such an adorable diva who loved to cuddle, she had such curious nose and was so effortlessly cute and funny. I will forever miss her, hopefully some of these pictures can convey how much of a sunshine she truly was.

Hedgehog living in my shed, how not to disturb it?

I have a hedgehog living in my shed. (england) My garden is raised (i live on a hill, the garden is enclosed and there is walls around and levels of neighbours gardens so i have no clue how it got in and when, it might have been in the shed all winter for all i know. i discovered it the other night when having a smoke.

i’ve fed it cat food and left water, ive now made a hole in my fence so it can at least escape my garden and somehow scale the wall down to the main street, but i just watched it eat and go back to the shed!

i have to clear out my shed in a few days and do some garden work during the day, its non negotiable due to my landlord coming so i have to do a lot of weeding. i dont want to disturb it if it hasn’t left by then, what do i do to make it leave?

Hedgehog wound

Hi guys! We got our little guy Biscuit about 2 months ago, we noticed this scab on him and a thick stain on top (I’m wondering could it be from maybe having too much fun, I heard it can harden) and then he’s annoying him and he’s scratching? We have tried bathing him and it won’t come off, it is like concrete! And it seems to hurt him and he also hates baths so we are sort of at a loss, any advice appreciated!

I am buying a kit from the breeder and I bought meal worms and crickets. I'm just asking for things that people forget to tell you or that's not online
