I want to start lessons this year for the electric guitar. I haven’t bought a thing yet but have been doing research and looking at recommendations online. I’ve decided on the Pacifica 612v (Indigo or Teal) and have made lists of everything I might need. Based on your experience, if you had to buy everything from scratch, what would your ideal shopping list be (within a reasonable budget)? I’m in the UK.
This is what I’m thinking so far:
Guitar - Yamaha Pacifica 612v. I prefer the indigo but the teal is currently on offer for £699 and the indigo has just gone back up to over £800. I wasn’t planning on buying just yet but the offer may mean that changes.
Amp - I’ll be practicing at home so I thought the Mustang Mini Micro Plus would be a good choice. Previously on at £109 but has jumped up to £115.
Gig bag - Really want the Gator GT Electric GRY transit serial but it’s £97 and not sure if I can justify the price. Now everything else (at cheaper price) I’ve seen looks shit in comparison.
Picks - I’ll probably start with the Dunlop Variety at about £7.56 and will try out others on my list at some point.
Headphones - no idea. I’ve been looking at open back ones but I don’t want anyone to hear me so need to start looking again.
Strings - Will likely start with Ernie Ball but I’ve got a list of others I’ll try. D’Addario, Elixir etc.
Winder, string cutter, strap, stand, cleaning items, jack etc. - I’ve had a general look at these but nothing standing out here. Anything I’m forgetting? I have no previous experience at all so not looking at pedals etc. just basics to get started.
Does anyone have the MMM plus and have any issues seeing the display i f it’s plugged into the bottom of the guitar? I’ve seen someone has invented a clip for it which attaches to the guitar strap but it’s on Etsy and the seller doesn’t deliver to the UK. Is it awkward using the tuner from that angle?
What does your list look like?
Any advice or suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Inherited this and would really appreciate any information on it good or bad.
Experience the iconic “Plexi” sound with the Marshall x Hendrix Half-stack Bundle. 100W hand-wired head, 4×12 cab, and Fuzz Face in a limited purple finish.
I have a Fender GTX that I love and I'm looking for a second amp.
I can not decided between the Blackstar & Vox. I want something that doesn't require an app, has a way to adjust the power, and is different than the Fender.
Thanks!

My Strat is a 2001 MIM Fender Strat in pretty good shape overall. Only real cosmetic wear is 2 small scratches/dings. Plays great, everything works, neck is solid. I swapped the stock pickups for some cheap 50s style pickups because I liked the sound more, but they weren’t expensive or anything crazy.
Guy offered me a straight trade for his Epiphone Les Paul Standard. From the pics his guitar has a pretty noticeable chip on the body, scratches on the back, and overall looks more worn than mine.
I’ve always wanted a Les Paul, but I’m trying to figure out if I’d be making a dumb trade here or if it’s fair enough. What would you do?
I've been wanting a classical guitar for a little while now and I've made the decision to buy one but I don't have a big budget. So if someone could help me find one for a low price but still good quality that would be amazing
Hey there! I am interested in buying the neural DSP quad cortex. I'm a guitarist/singer for an alternative, modern, pop, synth rock band. I'm using lots of reverb, phasers, delays, distortions, overdrives, synth effects and so on. My sound is versatile, not flat. My guitar is a Cort m600, a "PRS" style of guitar let's say. Do you think the neural DSP is generally "compatible" with my case and my guitar ?? Is there any chance my guitar won't fit well with the neural DSP ? 🙏
Well, I don't plan to make it right now, it's just a plan for the future cause I'm kinda broke and I already plan to spend 600 bucks on a new amp. So here's the list of pedals:
• MXR phase 90
• MXR M222 talkbox
• Mooer Noise Killer
• Boss TR-2
• Boss DD-3T
• Electro-harmonix Holy Grail Nano
• Electro-harmonix Neo Clone
• Digitech Whammy 5
• Digitech rp50
• Vox v845 wah
• Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Mini
• Ibanez Tube Screamer ts9
• Proco Rat
• Polytune 3
I don't really know which board I should use or the best signal chain order so well I kinda need some help on that. For a power supply, I planned on using a Walrus canvas power 15 but I think it doesn't have enough power for the talk box so I'll have to use the original power supply for it. About the digitech rp50, it's the pedal I currently own. Even though it's not too much I can sometimes get some nice tones out of it so I figured I should keep it. And last the amp I will be using is the evh 5150III lbx-s paired with a Harley benton g112 celestion v30 cab. I will be using the distortion of the amp so I will also include a thomann fs-1 switch to switch between channels. So well, what do you think?
Hello!
I own a fender princeton for 4 years and its my first valve amp.
today it started making loud cracking noise. i turn it off and on again and its fine for about one minute than starts craking noises again.
Since i never own a valve amp before i dont know if its the tubes or this type of noise maybe be something else.
What should i do?
