+ + [redacted] report + +
+ + Date check, 3555875.M41 + +
+ + recovered mem-log of unknown Verdant IX colonist + +

“I remember the first crackle beneath my skin, like frost creeping across glass. My thoughts blurred as my skull pushed forward, reshaping itself into a cruel, hooked curve, my jaw stretching until speech became a wet, clicking echo. Seeing too much in the darkness. My coat hung, a reminder of another life. My arms twist, fingers fuse and sharpen, I can feel my limbs tremble with alien intent.
I stand shorter now, hunched, teetering on unfamiliar joints, my shadow a stranger. Hunger hums where fear used to live, and sounds reach me differently, sharper, closer, as if the world itself has leaned in. I try to remember my name, my face, but memory has slipped away, replaced by instinct and a pulsating. I know I was once a person, but the monstrosity is growing and am forgetting faster now.”

+ + end + +

after zenithol prime, the base tone for the skin with ‘holy white’ speedpaint, I used ‘purple tone’ acrylic wash to set the shadow tone, then using an air brush and ‘slaughter red’ speedpaint I sketched out the inflamed areas. I did a dry brush highlight with ‘Skeleton bone’ warpaints air, focusing volumes and focal points like the heads/faces.

I then used Polychromos pencils draw some veins. The skin was sealed in with brush on gloss varnish. Using a stiff brush and ‘dark wood’ speedpaint, I flicked some brown specks across the skin to add mottling.

The clothing was done with speedpaints before being washed with the last of my ‘goon’s grime’ and the skin was washed with ‘dystopian brown’ (both villainy inks). after letting the enamels to sit for 30 minutes the model was cleaned up with a sponge and brush damp with mineral spirits. I then went back in with ‘carrion crimson’, ‘ichor of the damned’, and ‘True blood’ effects paint to add gore. I then used UHU glue to add strands of gore and saliva. The eyes were done with matt white and green fluorescent ink. the boils were done with ‘matt white’ and ‘zealot yellow’ speedpaint, then pin washed with diluted ‘true blood’

Look closer, just layers, texture... and experimentation.

I wanted something raw. Something alive. Something that feels wrong.

I'm thinking about how to make my first tutorial, camera and etc...

I do my best! 🙏

Gubbion MBW [Main Battle Wolf] Mk. 3

The Immured Legion builds particularly horrifying War Wolves; their name a tribute to the infamous beast that annihilated a town in Umbria two hundred years after the grand Heresy.

My take on Lady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief. It's my second painted mini and my first post so any advice is welcome (pls be kind)!

I wanted kind of a dirty/grimdark twist hence the oil wash and liberal coagulated blood usage. The base is a mix of 3d printed bones and bits I sculpted out of modeling clay, had maybe too much fun with basing hehe

Feedback is welcome ✨ cheers!

First grimdark minis!

Just got a hold of villainy inks and loving learning how to use this paint to make minis grim and dark. Using pox walkers to learn before I tackle the better models of the death guard. Advice welcomed.
