Stealing

Ive just started around 3 weeks ago and idk if I’ve been living under a rock but I’ve never realised how bad it is, some homeless guy came in today (I’ve seen him steal before) looked at me and said “mhm Im not sure if I wanna steal today 😭😭😭😭 then Proceeds to do a mini shopping and leave, are we supposed to stop them?

New pet peeve unlocked; customers telling me how to do my job.

"Did you use the correct tongs to pick up my vegan roll? You used the yellow ones but I'm pretty sure they are for vegetables." 🤦

Also; I'm trying to put together a customers large order that's like 10 steak bakes and 40 sausage rolls and they're constantly asking me why I haven't prepared their cup of tea yet.

Also also; tell them the total price of their sausage roll and latte; "£3.40? Is that including the latte?" Oh no sorry I forgot to charge you for the latte because as we all know a single sausage roll costs £3.40 🤬

Sup

I just had a customer ask me what the hole on the lid of her latte is for, had to tell her it's so she could drink it

My head is baffled so was curious what stuff other workers have been asked 😂

I hate this place bruh (Big rant + Question)

  1. WHY THE HELL ARE CUSTOMERS SO STUPID LIKE WHAT. Like why they always on my dick about something like why do they say they want a black coffee just to tell me that I haven't put milk in it, why do they always be on some weird bs like they entitled to the work. Literally had some mf come into the place demanding for some random fuckass item that we've NEVER sold and had to argue with him for 10 straight minutes this place deadass drains me like what the fuck.

  2. WHY'S MY MANAGER A WHOLE CHUD BRO LIKE WHAT. Like why am I contracted for 8 hours and I haven't been in work for about 3 weeks, and the contract states that I should be getting 4 weeks notice or sum but i'm ALWAYS getting MAXIMUM 2 weeks notice and USUALLY 4 days notice like what. AND I'M NOT EVEN BEING PAID FOR THE 8 HOURS THAT I'M SUPPOSED TO BE CONTRACTED LIKE TS NOT A BREACH OF CONTRACT.

  3. WHY ARE ALL MY COWORKERS FUCKIN WEIRD AS HELL. Like tell me why i'm just working and some random girl ordering asks for my Instagram (so I give her my ig duh) but then by my next shift (the day after) literally EVERYONE I saw somehow found out and started talking about how I was "pulling" and had "rizz" and I deadass just wanted to run away and cry (not out of sadness just because I hate everyone) (ts is going on TILL THIS DAY BTW and it happened a soliud 3 months ago)

  4. WHY DO I GET THE CHUDDY SHIFTS LIKE WTF. Like okay i'm not complaining too heavy about this but my past fuckin 10 shifts have been on about 2 sdays notice and they've been closing shifts where it's me and 1 other person. AND THE MF I'M ON CLOSE WITH DOESN'T DO BS OTHER THAN COUNT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY IN THE TILL AND THAT'S IT. LIKE IDEADASS CLEAN THE WHOLE SHOP AND EVERYTHING ASHGUADRSGHUASDUGHBJJGHBFADHJB

  5. On a real note I deadass like the job TO AN EXTENT but I deadass only like 3 coworkers that I never see, and i'm fully thinking about quitting just to get more hours elsewhere and am I deadass gonna work at Greggs past the age of 20 like huh.
However i'm not sure how to go about me quitting since I know i'm planning on quitting after my holiday (1st June - 15th June) but I don't know if I should just quit quietly or press my manager about all the bs he's on, since contractually i'm obligated 8 hours of pay even if he hasn't given me the 8 hours of work, and since i've worked there I could say i've lost upwards of £500 from not being given the contracted hours.

Should I just demand that he pay me and start spouting about how it's a breach of contract if he doesn't, and start just spouting random bs about how the employment rights act 2025 and whjatever obligated notice time idk. OR do I just not say anything about it and get a new job and if they need a reference from him then he'll be like oh he's tuiff ig instead of saying i'm the worst monster to grace this earth?

Need Advise / Greggs

So i've been at Greggs around 3 weeks now and all of my co workers have been super welcoming and helpful and my manager is so lovely but, recently one co worker in particular has turned sour on me pretty out of the blue. what started as friendly smiles and conversations has turned into snarky comments and being completely ignored and left out. It started after i started doing breakfast shifts with her and I was so caught up in getting the basics right it slipped my mind once or twice to ask for more bacon, sausages and omelette to be put on. Now ofcourse i absolutely understand how frustrating it must be to have to deal with a new member of staff during a busy breakfast shift but honestly her making these remarks such as "great well no ones called for more" and huffing and banging things around angrily super loudly near me is honestly causing me to make more mistakes because i get super worked up and anxious. I don't want her to hate me and Ive been trying my best to call out when we need more of a product i just feel that i'm always too slow and then when she notices she thinks i've just not bothered to say anything which isn't the case. I know i sound ridiculous and sensitive but I dealt with girls like this in secondary school I was picked on in similar ways for being shy and letting people walk all over me. I just cant handle the annoyed remarks and her ignoring me and engaging with everyone else its making me not want to be there but I really need the job. I dont wanna complain because literally everyone loves her and I really want us to get on I don't want to frustrate anyone thats never my intention.

How to improve speed

I've been working at Greggs for nearly a month now and things are going okay but I really need to become faster.

I already do the basic things like starting the coffees before grabbing everything else but I still need to improve my speed.

I also still make the occasional few mistakes at the speed I go at and im worried me trying to rush myself will cause even more mistakes.

PLUS there are just some customers which are really difficult and slow me down SO much

I would greatly appreciate any advice because gosh this job is not easy

Not collecting Tgtg

I hate when people buy tgtg bags and not collect them. Happens in my store alot. We have 1 bag left that has been bought but by the time we close the door it's still there not been collect.

I hate it as its unfair to people who actually want a bag and are willing to come as someone will buy one then not even bother collecting 🙄

Especially made me mad today when someone bought 4 bags then didnt come for them 😤

Shrinkflation

Went into greggs today. Blimey the pasties have shrunk. Tiny squares. Sad times. I even said it to the staff member. She said sorry out of my hands. I said I know it's just disappointing to see

Greggs is one of the few places to treat me like a human being consistently across branches

I'm an Uber driver and honestly some vendors treat us like absolute scum. The excuse is drivers are rude... well I'm not. I'm polite and patient and courteous.

And one particular supermarket I go to they literally scowl at us for turning up and asking to collect things. Uber literally told us to turn up for collection

To all Gregg's staff I salute you and I shop with you as a result

New Starter Advice

HOLIDAY

basically, my parents booked flights to our home country for one month from mid july to mid august so we can see our family and this is holiday is something we only do once in 2 years. my manager had said that there wouldn’t was no more availability for holiday in August because she didn’t want to be short of any team members and I asked her if it was possible to take some time off and she said that I could only have two weeks of holiday at a time is it possible to get unpaid holiday or unpaid leave at Greggs so I can go for the month instead of having to quit the job and reapply her later date because they may not have any positions open????? or is there any way i could take sick leave or something ?? ( my first part time job so i have no idea how this works )

NEW DONUT AND BAKE for the summer

The Mango & Passion Fruit Doughnut was real nice especially the filling which is unique for a ring donut type. The Red Pepper, Feta & Spinach Bake is delicious too as a non vegetarian despite it being cold was flavoursome. Also the Prawn Pasta Salad I had yesterday was filled up and tasty so I'm quite impressed with Greggs new menu items so far.

Steak bakes (and likely most of the bakes)

Got a steak bake this morning. when did they become a small square and cost £2.25. (up in the North East).

i definitely remember them being rectangle at some point.

Also, have they binned off cheese and bacon wraps? Haven’t seen them in a while.
