I purchased this 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo from this asshole that didn’t tell me about all the electrical issues of the jeep. I’ve been chasing the several issues down and I think I’ve got it.
My last problem is the large ground wire in the spare tire compartment is cut and the other side that runs to the driver side of the engine next to the ABS module.
Do you other Older Grand Cherokee owners also have this large ground wire in the spare tire compartment? If so, where does the other side connect?
Thanks!
Hey guys, so unfortunately I have fallen victim to the oil cooler failure that is common on the 3.6 and the Eco diesel. Leaking down to my transmission pan and just a tad bit of oil in my coolant reservoir.
To those who have had this issue and got it repaired, how much did it cost you guys? Local mechanic? Dealership?
Cleaned up the wife’s new Jeep, figured I’d share a dope picture of the shop.
i think it has around 165k miles, no issues. need something good for camping that i can also daily. 3500, 5.7 hemi. also looking at a 92 zj cherokee 4.0 175k miles for like 2k if the newer one is a bad idea. Only things that pushes me more towards a older zj or a xj is the 4.0 reliability, i heard the hemis get lifter tick around this mileage.
Hey guys so I’ve got a 2018 wk2 Laredo with 125,000+ miles on it. Should my jeep still leak oil a few days after replacing ofh? This is the second repair made. The first was a plastic one, which leaked for a month afterwards so I took it back in. Now was an aluminum one. Oil pressure is normal, and levels were good last I checked. Thanks
The grand Cherokee my dad bought in 2012 (it’s an 06) has the power tech 4.7 v8. That grand Cherokee has been through a lot but one thing I do know is no matter what she will always start.
Traded my 2014 F150 FX4 for this 25 GCL Limited. So much more comfortable and love the black accents/wheels.
Hello all,
Hoping someone here can lend some insight or is even a Jeep tech. Over the last couple months I have sporadically gotten the service air suspension immediately message on the dashboard while driving. I would get worried. I’d have to go turn the car off get back in and the air suspension seemed to work fine. Now mind you I am the original owner and have raised to vehicle to OR2 maybe 50 times? That could even be an exaggeration. I love in the northeast so it would be only for snow and a handful of times I brought it on the beach. It has never been rock crawling or “true” off roading. This winter was harsh. Lots of snow and brutally cold which I suspect is what pushed this along. Anyway enough of my banter.
I consider myself a fairly capable DIYer and have worked on cars my whole life so I bought a wireless OBDII dongle and the 12x8 security cable. I downloaded Jscan and began my diagnostics. The compressor appears to be fine. The car will decide when it wants the suspension to work and will raise/lower upon command. Other times it won’t and gives me the dashboard message. This also tells me (maybe) that the valve block is fine. I checked all the wheel sensors. They’re attached and facing the right directions, and honestly look incredibly clean for a jeep with 81k on it. I still have an original battery. It reads approx. 13.3V when idling. I suspect this could be the culprit, but I am going to attach a bunch of diagnostic screen shots and hope that maybe the best jeep tech in this forum sees them and can tell me what’s wrong.
I tried several deep dives with AI and haven’t had much luck. I did also attempt to calibrate, but I’m not sure if I was measuring from the wrong places or what so I had to set the ECU back to suspension from the factory settings
Thanks in advance for any help. If there is any other info that you need from me that would help please let me know.
Having a hard time finding an official source online.
What tires have people liked the most on these? I haven't had to buy highway/touring type tires in a long time - previous cars in recent years have been all terrain tire type cars and I dont feel like they would look right on the GC + tank gas mileage. Or maybe a less aggressive all terrian? Picked this very low mileage '23 (off lease) overland up recently and it will be due for new tires by the time winter rolls around again. I live in the NE, so must be good in snow. I liked the continentals when I had European cars years ago . . . It currently has whatever junk tires they put on them new.
Pulled up at a stoplight today and my auto start/stop went to kick in. It stuttered, then through the warning light for auto start stop. It also made me put my car in park and restart at the light since my car had stalled. Any information on what could have happened here and how to fix?
Hi everyone, I’d like some advice about my lease situation. I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited on lease. My lease ends in August 2026 with a residual value of $31,000. Right now the car has about 53,000 miles, while my contract only allows 12,000 miles per year (36,000 total). That means I’m already over by 17k miles, and by the end of the lease I might be around 57,000 miles . My options seem to be: 1. Keep paying until August 2026 and then either return it (and pay mileage penalties) or buy it for $31k. 2. Try a lease transfer, though the high mileage makes it tough. What would you do in my situation? Is buying it at the end the smartest move, or should I try something else?
Has anyone had this issue I’ll be cruising on the highway with wayze going and the screen will flash red randomly not often but randomly. Does this mean the unit is going bad?
I have a 2 inch lift on my jeep everyhting else is oem and replaced, and found this from extreme terrain. Trying to get a less bumpy ride out of my car, and these seem like they would help. Haven't been able to find any that fit a 2 inch lift, looking for recommendations on what I could do, and if these would help smooth out the ride at all.
Do I need to recover the refrigerant to replace the AC box that’s inside the dash? I need to know because if I do, I need to have a shop do it.
