Need some help with measurements

He fellow MK2 owners!

I'm working on a gadget for my car, but unfortunately it's away from me (and will be about a month) and I cannot do the a dasboard dummy switch measurements myself.

Can you please give me a distance from both edges till the closiest point of the box and the a height from the front surface to the place where it meets the dashboard? (x, y, and z). ?lso a hole height and width for the dummy in the dashboard.

Thanks a lot! I will do a separate post about the device one done

I am restoring a Country Golf and need help with specific window part

Hello, this picture seems to be from MKI Golf but the item I need is number seven the outer part where the rubber scraper attaches to. What is that part called and if you can help me find the specific part if you have needed that yourself, preferably in EU. The metal parts I had on my country were eaten by rustmonsters.

Golf MK2

I've recently purchased myself a golf 2 and when I took it to the road to drive it home all was well did the highway for about 60-65 kms, when i returned to the normal traffic lower rpms the engine suddenly failed and stalled. The engine refused to retart and eventually the battery died. Got the car home jumpstarted the battery and the engine started, after talking to some people trying to figure out what the problem is thinking is was maybe a bad alternator or a bad battery. After checking them both with a multimeter they both seem fine with the battery reading 12.5 volts with engine off and 14.5 with engine running indicating that the alternator should be working. After thinking further people suggested that maybe the carburator might have gone bad or might be filthy. The problems that I have is that when idling after the while the rpms goes to a solid 900-850 but always seems the stutter the slighest, The rubber pipes getting really hot not really sure if that's something concerning, not knowing why the engine suddenly failed after driving that distance and then there is this noise after the engine has been running for a bit and reving the engine the slighest or when it drops back down. I'm personally a complete complete noobie to cars but trying to learn myself bit by bit. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated or any advice what best maintenance bits I could be doing to make the engine run a bit smoother or keep the car healthy.

Car is a Golf MK2 from 1991, is a 1.6 engine and is from the EU

Installing MFA

Ok so, I have this mfa panel of which I needed the speed sensor for my cruise control. The speed and rpm gauge didn't work which is why it was extremely cheap. But I think the mfa computer does work. I took it apart and I want to know what I need to transfer to my own cluster to make it work. Except all the sensors and wiring and stuff, for now just what do I need from the cluster. And I don't want to hear "oh it's so hard and nearly impossible." I know it's hard. I just want to know. 1. Is it possible? And 2. What do I need from the mfa cluster?

87' VW Golf GT 1.8L 8v stutter

Hello,

I have a 1987 VW Golf GT with a 1.8L 8 Valve engine. It seems to have the CIS-E fuel injection system. I've got a small stumble that I have been working to diagnose for awhile now and I was wondering if anyone had ideas? So far I have replaced the cap and rotor, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, alternator, oil change with new filter, new belts. I got the timing pretty well dialed in and the fuel/aid mixture seems good. I've checked the coil and it's well within spec. I've gone through and checked things like the Wide Open Throttle / idle switches and the ohms check was good. The cold start valve checked out good. I did check the coolant temperature sensor and I believe that is bad it's reading 65ohms whether the vehicle is hot or cold (I have a new sensor coming in). I've read if you just unplug it then the ECU will go into an open loop and essentially bypass the bad sensor. The O2 sensor seems to have good ohms readings as well. The ISV itself seems to have a good ohms reading, I recently cleaned it out with carb cleaner and that helped a little. One thing I did read is if you have the key "on" but the engine off you should feel a hum on the ISV which I do, however it's not a constant hum, it pulses is the best way I can describe it. The hum is for 3 seconds then off for 1 second and then hum for 3 seconds and then off for 1 second (on repeat). It's not the ISV though, if you pull the plug off and then test the wiring harness you can see that pattern pulse in the two outer pins on the 3 pins harness. You can see the ohms and voltage flex every 3 seconds. I've checked ground and everything seems good on the valve cover ground, body ground near the battery and they have a great reading (ohms wise). I know some would suggest it's probably a vacuum leak but this pulse pattern happens while the key is on and the engine is off so the ECU I would think shouldn't be checking for vacuum because the vacuum shouldn't exist yet (I would think). So that leads me to believe it's a sensor or maybe a relay of some sort? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Motorlauf verbessern

Habe dort 5V anliegen.

Freue mich über jeden Tipp!!!

Has anyone ralized this

One of those cheap car interior light strips fit basically perfectly in the mk2 golfs instrument clusters green plastic diffuser strip. You just need to sand down the small notches and it just snaps in. I dremmeled the holes a bit larger so the light is more brighter.

Transmission

A little while ago i bought a white golf mk2 with a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine, i thought i had a normal 5 speed transmission, but after a bit of driving on the highway and doing a little research i found it it isnt a normal 5 speed, but it is a 4+E, whag difference does this make in performance

Help with Tires

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on a new set of tires for my Mk2.
For the past few years I’ve been running Toyo Proxes tires and they’ve been fantastic – plenty of grip, great cornering performance, and good wet-weather traction as well. Unfortunately, it looks like they’re no longer available in my size.
Can anyone recommend a good alternative?
I’m after a sporty tire with strong grip in both dry and wet conditions, as I do enjoy driving the car quite enthusiastically on occasion. Good feedback and predictable handling are definitely a plus.
Tire size: 195/45 R15 78V
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Why do so many people convert their mk2 gtis to carbs?

I live in south africa and ive always wanted a mk2 gti, ive had the mk1 and it was great. My question is does the fuel injection system have any issues? Every mk2 gti i see on marketplace has been converted to a carburettor for some reason?
