I’m doing a project where I’ve been going through all of marvel publication week by week in a bid to be able to say I’ve read all of it. I’m currently up to 1974 after starting 1939, recently I got Ghost Rider into my rotation, but he just isn’t quite as cool as he is in the modern day which I of course expect.
They’re not gonna get it perfect right away. But after finishing his stuff in Marvel Spotlight, his issue of marvel teamup and some of his own series I just wanted to check when he starts getting great or if it’s more a case of this being a sort of rough run for Johnny in general
Does anyone remember this issue? I kind of wish Marvel would do more with their horror stuff these days. I feel like it's only once and awhile or only near Halloween they do something. Reading the stuff from the 70s I can see that horror comics seemed to be more popular than they are now. Just my take though.
..or whatever the #*ck it’s called. It’s apparently some sort of horror reboot of certain heroes or something like that. I wonder if our boy Ghost Rider will even be a part of it in some capacity or not, probably the latter. Which is fine with me at this point, even if he is it’ll be some shitty one shot, like always.
I'm asking this here because they brought Ghost rider into this. For those who don't know, Marvel Tokkon revealed Black Panther as a playable character, but it's not T'challa. It's his sister Shuri. This has caused discourse on Twitter leading people to believe that they are slowly erasing T'challa from Marvel media. They claim they would never do this to a white character, but when some pointed to Ghost Rider being Robbie, BP fans said that either means nothing or you all would be happy with any media about him.
Sometimes when I hear about ghost rider , i genuinely keep forgetting he’s in the marvel universe. He feels Like a character from hellboy or spawn. He enters any comic and you immediately forget it’s about super heroes. Even a lot of superheroes treat him like a natural disaster rather than a person unless it’s a specific team up The vibe , the grotesque darkness and the spiritual evil of the comics in relation to the Christian mythos makes it stand out with its own special lore and rules and marvel needs to market him like that.
The way DC does vertigo with the endless and the connective tissue being that sometimes Constantine finds his way into that realm works wonders and the same should be done with ghost rider, making it in such a way that he is in the marvel universe but his paths rarely crosses with the other heroes. And his world has its own lore . Marvel announced a midnight branch for thier universe , i think this should be the exact move for them. And i also think if they run with that. Aesthetic he can easily be the 4th face of marvel Mount Rushmore
Okay so I just finished Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. Honestly this movie was super boring to me. I did not care about the plot of Johnny having to protect a boy from being used in a demonic ritual at all. None of the new characters were interesting either.
This movie had some cool action scenes and that’s it. 2/10. Only a 2/10 for the cool action scenes. Otherwise it would be a 0/10.
It’s funny how people lump ghost rider as an edgy anti hero when in really ghost rider rarely kills people. Of course it depends on the 2006 run Zarathos really did kill People but it was mostly shards of Satan.
In Percy Run Zarathos kills people. But the 90s GR didn’t kill people. That’s why they used the penance stare
