I hope Marvel understands Gambit is popular i.e. Hasbro incident

A few weeks ago I had mentioned snatching a Hasbro Gambit from a boy/and his father out of the two choices they had at a comic store. And how months later I saw the Xmen97 Gambit figure about four of them at the Gamestop mall. So I made another trip to that mall two weeks later (today). They are all sold out. But I did see plenty of Wolverines and Cables still there.

I've never liked the consensus over the decades that Gambit is unlikeable and unpopular to the Marvel editors/producers. I wanted them to get over their pettiness if the reasoning was jealousy. The latest X-Men Film Screenwriter says his favorite is Gambit so that's a plus. Note: I will rue the day Tim Seely if he ever gets promoted. I didn't think he was that much of a fan given how he wrote Remy in the winter swimsuit issue. Also him saying how much he loves Shadowcat and Colossus, so he could eventually split Romy out of spite since they took Kitty/Piotr's wedding! Even Duggan was put on a tight leash as his latest foray into writing Gambit in that Godzilla vs XMen issue was.....safe? (Did Brevoort yell at him? LOL)

How do you feel about Kelly Thompson’s flashbacks for Rogue and Gambit’s first meeting?

Many people feel Kelly Thomson did a great job with her 2018 Rogue and Gambit miniseries. I am one of those fans. One of the reasons I enjoyed it was I felt her flashbacks added much needed context to the earlier parts of Rogue and Gambit’s history that helped to fill in the gaps on why these two characters would come together in the first place. Gambit, the consummate flirt and ladies man, on the surface seemed to be drawn to Rogue in early issues because she was what he couldn’t have.

However, with Thompson’s backstory filling in details of their first encounter to include a flirtatious battle and first kiss (or make-out session) we see that isn’t the case. While under the influence of the Shadow King, Rogue is able to control her powers and this could be seen as giving Gambit the impression that he is immune to her powers, or at the very least that he could get lucky again and help Rogue move past her fears of hurting her partners with her touch. As I reread these moments, I can’t help but think how brilliant Thompson is to have crafted this backstory to fit so seamlessly into the already established lore and offer a new perspective through which to interpret their first moments in comics. Some people have commented that in these earlier issues Gambit comes off as creepy or a jerk who is just rolling the dice and trying to play games with her emotions. But I feel this new lens makes it more so Gambit is truly trying to connect with her again as they’ve already been able to find a way to fully express their love.

What do you think? I’d love to hear thoughts on how these revelations affected the way you see their relationship.

Who will be buying the upcoming flashback mini series Gambit: Wanted by Claremont, and what are you hoping for?

Honestly, I’m still disappointed we don’t have an ongoing yet - although Brevoort indicated something could happen after his current arc in Uncanny. And, I wasn’t super impressed with Claremont’s last Gambit book…

…but Claremont is still the his creator, and I’m happy to have more addition to Gambit lore away from Rogue (I like Rogue, but he needs more non-Rogue development).

The man understands his woman

Seen people talking about Marvel Rivals Rogue/Remy and people have identified Remy as a simp for his wife with both positive and negative connotations. I would like to bring forth a slightly different interpretation. Rogue has been horrified of hurting people with her touch since she was a child. But it's been made hella obvious that she longs for physical connection. At least 70%-80% of the reason her and Gambit were on again off again was because of how much she craves to be physically intimate with him (in both family friendly and not so family friendly ways). So with a whole lifetime of trauma and anxiety related to physical contact, asking for/initiating physical contact is a whole other can of worms. What these images depict is not only Remy being the beautiful golden retriever he is but him soothing the touch starved soul of his wife.

And also Remy is just real down bad for Rogue and constantly wants to be physically touching her. Basically it's a win win situation for both of them.

Woman who craves physical contact but struggles to ask for it + Man who wants to constantly be touching her = Perfection.

Gambit’s VA AJ LoCascio practicing his new voice for S2?

I just watched episodes 5&6 of Maul Shadow Lord and the voice actor of Marrok is the same voice for Gambit and he sounds very good and very dark. I’m wondering if this is a sample of maybe when S2 of 97 comes Gambit will sound very dark very menacing as Death. What do yall think? How will Gambit sound for S2?

Does Gambit have kids?

I’ve got into Gambit and the X-men by watching X-men ‘97 a month before he was released in Rivals, since then I’ve been obsessed with him, collect merch, read everything I can find where he has even just a tiny insignificant appearance. Today I was scrolling on tiktok and on a video about Gambit a commenter spoke about some kids he has? They did not mean the young mutants he and Rogue are raising in the uncanny x-men run but actual biological children. They mentioned Irene and Oliver Lebeau and Bekka Raven saying they are from alternate timelines. Are these real or is it a troll comment? I ask because I can’t find nothing with those names but maybe I haven’t searched enough. Also if they are real, can someone give me a quick guide on where to read about them? Thank you!

Please remember to attribute

Hi all, we've had a lot of new user activity lately (and bots!), please be sure to attribute any fan art that you post to the original artist (even your own). If posting comic panels it's also helpful to cite issues so others can find it, but that is not required.

Properly attributing is rule #4. Any unattributed posts will be removed and will need to be reposted.

Thanks!
