So I inherited an old Samsung Note 8 from my brother in law, and I wanted to install a custom Rom (Lineage OS) on it. Problem was, it was factory reset prior to me receiving it and now there does not seem to be a way to deal with the RMM state prenormal or the only official boot issue. Anyone had any luck recently with this?

Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a second-hand T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950U) for cheap here in India. I checked the IMEI and it is Blacklist Clean, but it is network locked to T-Mobile.
The Situation:
Model: SM-N950U (Snapdragon)
Location: India (Trying to use a Jio/Airtel SIM)
Status: The "Device Unlock" app says "Unlock Failed" over Wi-Fi.
Support: I contacted T-Force on X (Twitter), but they refused to help because I’m not the original account holder and don't have proof of purchase.
My Questions:
Since T-Mobile won't help, is there any legitimate way to get this white-listed/unlocked for free or cheap?
Are there specific third-party services that are actually reliable for old N950U models?
I know the bootloader is likely locked on this Snapdragon US variant, but is there any way to at least get it onto the N950U1 firmware to make it more usable on Wi-Fi?
I'm a student on a tight budget, so any advice on getting this functional for local SIMs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I wanted to switch to Lineage OS on my Note 8 because I needed to upgrade from android 9 to android 10+. However I created a backup using smart switch which copied everything to my external SSD which was probably a mistake.
Now I need to get all of my contacts back but Im having trouble because I thought it was going to be easy to restore back with smart switch. My contacts are stored in a .bk file
With whatsapp i created a backup copy before to my google account and after installing whatsapp again i got all of my contacts but none of my chat history.
Im going to install lineage on my S8+ soon so I also need to know whats the actual correct way to backup all of my stuff on samsung before hand. Do I use seedvault?
