New Rule Regarding Spam & Open Invitation to Brands That Want to Support the Community

New Rule: No Blatant Marketing / Ad Spam

This sub is meant to be a community for face painters to share art, get feedback, learn techniques, and connect with other artists.

Lately, supplier and brand advertising has started overwhelming the subreddit, with multiple promotional posts appearing back-to-back. Because this is a small, slow-moving niche sub, ads stay on the sub's front page for a long time. They are burying artist posts and community discussion.

So going forward:

Posts that are primarily advertisements are no longer allowed.

That includes:

  • obvious product ads
  • infomercial-style videos
  • repeated promotional posts
  • sponsored posts focused mainly on selling

What is allowed?

Branded tutorials, demos, and educational content are still allowed once per week per brand/company. Please do not use multiple accounts to try to bypass this.

If you want to promote your products here, please do it in a way that benefits the community:

  • tutorials
  • tips
  • technique breakdowns
  • educational demos
  • inspiration content

An artist that happens to use branded products is fine.

A sponsored or promotional video (“use code XYZ at checkout,” logo on the screen, heavy branding, direct sales focus, etc.) counts toward the once-a-week limit.

The goal is balance:

  • artists still get a place to share and connect
  • businesses can still reach their audience
  • the sub doesn’t turn into a nonstop ad feed

What I don’t want is accounts that only post ads, never engage with artists' posts, and treat the subreddit like free advertising space.

Opportunities for Brands That Want to Support the Community

I’m open to discussing community-focused collaborations.

For example:

  • sponsored contests
  • beginner challenges
  • judged events with feedback from experienced painters

A small prize like a split cake, brush set, sponge pack, glitter tattoo kit, etc. can genuinely help artists here while also building goodwill for your brand. It's also a fraction of the cost of the alternative of just buying adspace with Reddit directly.

That kind of participation strengthens the community instead of drowning it in ads.

If a company is interested in something like this, feel free to message the mod team.

Harassing moderators or acting entitled to advertising privileges will result in bans.

These rules may evolve over time depending on how things go. If advertising continues to be disruptive, promotional content may be restricted further in the future.

The priority is keeping this subreddit a healthy space for artists first.

Hello everyone,

I have been balloon twisting and face painting for around 3 years now professionally. I usually do weekend bookings ( birthdays, festivals, and corporate events). However, I am leaving for university next year so I am trying to make as much money as possible this summer. I already have some bookings but they are just weekend gigs. I was wondering if you have any tips on how to get more weekday gigs ( collaborating with restaurants, etc.). I am open to any ideas! Thank you so much.

Lisa Frank Eye has been super popular with sorority girls. Actually think I’ve painted dozens recently.

Starting to charge more for florals, bookings are starting to soar recently.

I am a makeup artist and am hired for a glitter bar soon. I want to start offering it as a service. Ive done my research and learned about Silly farm, mama clown and jest.
I am leaning towards a fusion palette to start with and get myself familiarized with colors.

What are your must have products? Do you have favorite/popular shades of glitter? Do you have tools that you cant go without?
Would love your recommendations!
