I’m over the moon right now. I just got home to find the Sweetwater box waiting for me on the porch. Been wanting one of these for forever. I snapped a few photos but now it’s time to go play it.

Legator G7FP 2022 Satin Black and tuning (in)stability

Legator G7FP 2022, Satin Black, upgraded with stainless-steel frets by the previous owner. owner. But it has sharp edges, and the guitar doesn't wanna stay in tune. I want something reliable that holds tuning pretty well, and I can tune down to Drop E. Any tips, ideas or recommendations?

Considering these headless guitars due to ergonomics and the limited space around my desk:

Legator G8FOD - Artic Blue
Ormsby Headless Goliath 8 GTR Elite - Copper Print
Strandberg Guitars Boden Metal NX 8 2021 - Black Granite

NGD - Omne Vetus 8 Amaranth Pink! Extremely comfortable and well worth it

TL;DR
A feature packed, ergonomic 8 string. Really light and easy to play with the most important parts of a guitar really thought through - great pickups, great hardware, perfect setup OOTB. Especially when accounting for the price.

For anyone who was frustrated trying to get one, I really advise you to keep trying since it will be worth it! And if you can, get the gig bag too since it fits the guitar perfectly and has really good build quality

I've been eyeing this guitar for quite some time, and I finally managed to pull the trigger and get one from the batch in March. I first heard about it from Josh De La Victoria's videos and since then I've been intrigued by it's looks, features and sound. Here's a bit of a longer review since receiving it a few weeks ago:

Neck - Extremely comfortable teardrop/asymmetrical shape, with a flat like part in the middle of the neck, thinner on the bass side, and thicker ond the treble side. This is the main thing that makes it so easy to play with any technique - tapping, rhythm, lead, chords with big stretches, thumping/selective picking. I had the chance to play a custom made guitar with a Strandberg licensed Endur neck for a couple of years (non-headless, the neck design was probably from Strandbergs early days), but the Omne neck feels so much more natural and easier to play. The fret ends are really well finished and, from what I experienced, are perfect.

Setup - In my opinion, this is something that they really paid attention to. The string gagues and general setup is perfect for what I'm going for. The action is pretty low, but no buzzing or anything. There is a weird issue with the second to last fret buzzing on some strings, this may just be a consequence of shipping/different climate.

Weight - I was shocked how little it weighs. I've only held headless 6 string guitars a couple of times before getting the Omne, and the Omne seems to be even lighter than those (Kiesel and Strandberg). This may be an issue for some people, but I really dig how easy it is to hold + no back pain from heavy AF 8 strings anymore :)

Sound - I was surprised by the fact that it resonates really well acoustically, and has a lot of sustain. Probably because of its shape and generally being really low weight.

Pickups - The Fishmans do what they advertise. Really consistent pickups (volume is pretty consistent between voice 1 and voice 3 too, so no need for additional gain staging between the two). They are very versatile and able to deliver everything from glassy cleans (with acoustic like clarity), warm jazz-like tones, and of course soaring high gain rhythm and lead tones.

Electronics - Pretty high quality 3 way switch and push pull knob (which is easy to push/pull, I had bad experience with these, but its effortless to change between voice 1 and 3 during busy sections).

Tuners/Bridge - Pretty easy to turn, stay in tune well (although I sometimes need to retune the high B/G strings, nothing too drastic though).

Playability - Supreme, best playing guitar and 8 string I've ever had. All of their design choices in terms of ergonomics, weight reduction, and general design make it really easy and fun to play.

Finish - I love the Amaranth Pink color, looks really sleek in person. There are a few tiny marks here and there, but they obviously had to cut costs somewhere. Some of the spots around the pickups can probably be easily cleaned. I'm really not picky about any issues with the finish because all guitars must get beat up from time to time if they are really getting played :) (also, the couple of dings may be a consequence of customs, since the box was opened prior to me getting it)

Cons - Because of the ergonomic shape of the guitar and it being headless, I found it hard to place in my guitar stand (Gravity Vari-G 7). Not much of a problem for me since I got the Gig Bag/Softcase. The cover for the electronics seems like it's poorly cut, and it would be nice to see it flush with the body (this is something you can easily mod yourself though). The ordering process was frustrating, there is probably still a big demand for Omne guitars but it seems that it will only get better.

Which pickups are this? Fusion edge? Recommended?

Hello, anyone knows which pickup is this?

Opinions on the fusion edge 7? I recently bought a HB baritone 7 SBK 27” and now I want to replace the pickup, I don’t want a lundgren or bare knuckle cos they are too expensive, neither a fishmans cos it’s now way I’m going to drill the wood.

I’m between the fusion edge, D activators, Nazgûl, JB JS-4 and black winter. I could get the fusions for about 70$ (very cheap) but in reviews I saw they are a bit too muddy but still a lot of guitar players use it!

I want something for the studio, note definition, mid/high or high gain, passives. Cheers!

Help, finding this guitar?

Hey guys,

This is a long shot but some of you may know this feeling of regretting selling a guitar. :D

This guitar I have developed with an old friend of mine from Germany. The company was called Claas Guitars and this 8 string was the first we made together.

It isn’t very high quality but I thought I could try to tap into the powers of Reddit 😂?

Maybe someone knows someone how has known someone who saw this one?

To be honest I don’t have any idea if this guitar is even alive but help finding this one would be greatly appreciated :)

NGD Omne Vetus 8! Believe the hype.

I was one of the lucky ones to grab this from their latest drop and it is without a doubt the nicest guitar I have played. I have 6 other guitars all around $1500-$2000 (Indonesia/Korean) and this feels like what I imagine an American made prestige model guitar feels like, because well it literally is.

It is incredibly light and compact, feels effortless to play, and the Abasi Fishman sound unbelievable. The feel of the neck is like magic, the smoothest experience I have ever had.

It was well packaged and arrived set up perfectly.

I know some of you are frustrated with the way the drops go, but keep trying because this guitar is worth it.

I am very excited to see where this company goes from here.

7 String set for Drop F#? 27”

Hello, im about to calibrate and set my 27”guitar to drop F#.

I’m use to high gauges but I always struggle with playing leads on it (11-54 in drop D).

Do you recommend the 10-74 (8 string set)or are they going to feel very loose? I feel 80 is a bit too much innit?

Do I discard the 0.64 and run 10-13-17-30-42-54-74?

Another thing, I’m from Argentina so custom sets are not an option, there are not options available going from 0.11 to 74 neither and buying 2 sets is very expensive here (30$ aprox)

6 String Baritone for Drop F#?

Hi!

Looking to change my regular gigging guitar thats in drop F# from a 26.5' 7 string to a 6 string baritone as I dont like the width of the neck on a 7.

I'm not the biggest person so something that could handle this tuning without feeling too long would be great. Also would want 24 frets too, and a Jazzmaster style body would be a nice touch too but not a deal-breaker if not.

Any reccs?

Thanks!

NGD - Combine Guitars DIY 8 String Multiscale Headless

The .barnberg*

Lots of mistakes made and lessons learned, but I’m pretty stoked with how this turned out!

Veneer started lifting during staining so I sanded it back to this barn door kinda look and I’m pretty happy with it.

Pickups are fantastic, if a little hot. Sound kinda like Lundgrens. Also needed a fuck ton of fretwork, but she plays like an absolute dream. Would recommend and would happily do another one.

Selling my Jackson 8 string, so if anyone is in the market…

Like new condition, plays great. I just figured she’d be better in the hands of someone else and I’m in the market for something new. Everything is stock except for a bone nut and a Lace X Bar coil switch neck pickup with a scratch on it from the previous owner. I’m selling her for 600 local pickup in MA or RI, or 660 for shipping. The listing is up on reverb- https://reverb.com/item/95832737-jackson-x-series-slat8-ms-soloist-archtop-with-laurel-fretboard-2019-present-gloss-black?utm\_source=rev-ios-app&utm\_medium=ios-share&utm\_campaign=listing&utm\_content=95832737

Try LaBella HRS strings for higher tension at lower gauges

I tune to drop E on my 8 string, and I've been struggling a bit with string gauges. I HATE floppiness, so I had been rocking NYXL 9-80s to get better tension on the low E. It feels good but I was frustrated with the unbalanced sound of the .080. After some research, I took a chance on LaBella's 9-74 HRS set despite having no tension calculator or authoritative reference proving higher mass and higher tension at similar gauges.

I'm pretty satisfied with the results. The tension of the .074 feels similar to what I imagine an NYXL .078 would feel like, but it sounds so much more like a guitar string than a .080, a natural extension of the other strings. On the downside, the LaBellas feel stiff and are harder to bend than other .009 sets, but they're not as stiff as .010 sets. The wrap also feels somehow tighter, so the .074 feels even smaller than other .074s under my fingers.

I also plan to try Kalium, so my journey isn't over, but in the meantime I would heartily recommend LaBella for anyone looking for more tension on their 8 string. IMO it's a better option than going thicker.

NGD

Schecter C8 Hellraiser Hybrid.

First brand new guitar in 20 years, and my first extended range guitar, too! I'm not a super technical player, so I'm mainly just chugging out some caveman riffs for now, but I'm looking forward to expanding my music theory knowledge with this beast.

Also a big fan of the EMG 57/66 - have a really nice midrange warmth, even on my little Katana MkII.

7 String Baritone Guitars with 37" Neck -Need Help!!!

Looking to purchase a 7 String Baritone Guitar (preferably black) that has a 27" neck. I play a lot of Erra type metalcore which is in Drop G# or Drop E. I currently have an ESP LTD FRX-407 but it only has a 25.5" neck and get lot of string buzz in lower tunings even with heavier strings.

I really liked the Ibanez RGDRB71 Iron Label but found out the neck is 26.5" and also the guitar needs to be modded to put in fishman fluence pick ups. Goal is to be able to swap the pick ups with the Fishmans without having to mod or alter the guitar.

Anyone have any recommendations for black 7 string baritones with 27" necks? preferably in black?

Thank you guys!!

Best string gauges for bending/shredding on a 27 inch 8 string?

I am looking to buy either a Schecter John Browne Tao or an Ibanez Fredrik Thordendal but both have 27 inch scale lengths, and I play a lot of stuff that requires bends, and I know its hard to bend on baritone scale guitars, so which strings would you recommend using for these?
