I want to learn Escrima and other martial arts but never get damaged. I cannot afford even a sprain. Is this realistic or not?

Both of these things are cheap as hell, one massively reduces risk of concussion and the other decreases chance that your throat will collapse if a stick tip slides under your bib, and neither restrict mobility in any meaningful fashion.
