Trying to lose weight.

I’ve been a consistent rower thanks to my Ergatta for several years now. I’ve often wondered how someone rowing 6 to 9 km a day can still be carrying extra weight. I wasn’t counting calories, but eating healthy …I’ve recently realized that I’ve been rowing mostly in Zones 3 to 5, missing the fat burning Zone 2.

Now, I’m not focusing on watts or distance, but keeping my heart rate under my Zone 2 max. As a comparison, I seem to give up about 1,000 meters compared to what I would usually do for this same workout. I still want to do 2 cardio workouts a week to keep my heart strong.

I’m also using this strategy at the gym … working out to stay and maintain 30 to 40 minutes in Zone 2 while lifting, easing up on weight and doing more reps as necessary. I’ve also tightened up on nutrition.

We’ll see how the next few months shake out.

I use my Ergatta (cardio) with strength training in my home office.
The Ergatta is beautifully put up when I need to lay out my mat for strength training and stretching. I can easily clean up and bring the Ergatta down for my workout. Some days I might just do cardio and skip the strength.

What’s everyone else set up look like? And what workouts do you use it paired with?

Nothing but windows on 3 walls, the south wall is covered by plants. had to close them for the picture. You cant see but it also has books and board games surrounding the top. It may be a little cramped but I only use dumbells and the rower. Its my favorite room in the house, rain or shine.

New to both Ergatta and Strava. I am using Strava to feed into my Oura app. Here is an example of my problem. This morning my pre shower 2,500 meters showed a calorie burn of 166 calories. Which judging by my exertion level and weight felt about right to me. But in Oura (via the sync from Strava) it shows up as 77 calories (but with the correct distance and time). Any ideas?
