Just got a brand new Powkiddy X55 with JELOS — preloaded games included, what should I do first? (Beginner help needed)
Hey everyone, I just received my brand new Powkiddy X55 running JELOS and I’m a bit overwhelmed 😅 I’m completely new to handheld emulation setups, so I wanted to ask what I should do first to properly set this up and avoid messing anything up. I bought it from GameClove (physical store in my country), and it already came with preloaded games.
So far I’ve only:
• Turned it on
• Browsed the menus a little
• Checked the built-in games
• Now I want to understand how to properly set it up and what I should add or change.
My questions:
- Are the preloaded games safe to keep, or should I replace them?
- What games should I add for beginners?
- How do I actually add games step-by-step?
- Do I need to change any settings first before adding ROMs?
- What are the “must-do” setup steps for JELOS?
What I’ve heard but don’t fully understand:
- ROMs and BIOS files
- Scraping box art
- RetroArch settings
- SD card setup
I’m not sure what’s actually necessary for a beginner and what I can ignore for now.
What I need help with:
If anyone can guide me step-by-step like I’m a total beginner, that would really help.
Especially:
- How to safely add games
- Where to put files (folders, structure, etc.)
- What formats I should download (for example PS1, GBA, SNES games)
- Any recommended “starter games” that run well on the X55
