questions from a light sleeper trying to decide between GA & Group Camping

I'm a light sleeper and am debating doing group camp and risking not sleeping vs doing GA, hoping its quiet, and not having the excitement of hanging with a group (I have only ever met/seen any of the group at forest and we get along but don't vibe suuper well....my friends got VIP butI couldn't swing it).

context: I'm a light sleeper. My first year at Forest, the group next to us blasted music all day and all night, no joke. My ears never got a break and it was hard to sleep, even with earplugs. Last year, thank goodness, every group camp around us was quiet at night (i.e., after sets finished) through to the early afternoon.

Question 1: Is regular GA camping generally quiet at night or do people there also through mini-afters at their site?

Question 2: Is it impossible to take your tent and move all the way to the farthest corner of camp mid-festival? Like will I get in trouble and be asked to move? I'm sure it's frowned upon, but I remember it being pretty quiet and not so crowded the farther you get from main street, so kinda want to do group camp, then move to the farthest corner if its too loud.

Thanks sprouts!

How do yall make sure you get enough space in HL?

This is our second year in higher love and I understand they are always gonna pack you in. However we were kinda tight in 2024 so my question to yall is like the title says how do you go about making sure you get enough space without being an ass to the parking people?

Do yall measure your space or just ask for a bit more, or is it just the way it is and we need to deal with it ?

We have a pretty large group of 13 people and 6 cars, if that matters. Also I have seen that HL is supposed to have 25x20 spots.

Maplewoods Parking Plan

Hey y'all! Looking for how people have dealt with getting ppl and gear to Maplewoods.

First time doing Maplewoods (5 years in GA) and we've got 9 ppl (2x 4 person MW campsite passes + 1 join-on pass). We also have 1 GA Car Camping pass (considering using that as a type of parking pass) and a satellite parking pass. We're thinking about having the 2 MW parking passes go to the biggest vehicles that primarily carry the big heavy stuff. Other ppl will come in the other 2 vehicles and park at the satellite lot or GA car camping.

Any MW veterans have suggestions?

Also:

  1. How far away is the satellite lot? Are there any shuttles?

  2. Think it'd be possible for the GA Car Camping car to drive over by MW, unload, and get back to being put in a spot for GA?

Do I need my own camping pass?

This will be my first festival and I’m riding with a friend to EF. I believe I’ll have my own tent. The website says “One Car, Tent, or RV Camping Pass is required per vehicle or tent campsite, not per person.”

We will share a car but have separate tents so…do I need a camping pass or we only need to buy one for the car?

Yearly earplugs thread

Alright folks, is there any new technology we can try, or are we still stuck with the same either uncomfortable or ineffective earplugs? Eargasms are great at filtering out harmful noise and maintaining conversation, but they're hella uncomfortable wearing for long periods. Loops are comfy, but they're not really sound tech, just sound blocking. At this point, I'm just rocking the orange foam ones because they're cheap, comfy and I can carry a pocket of them and hand them out if anyone needs any. I just miss the Eargasm experience that first hour before that plastic starts to hurt my ears.

Yes, I sleep with the purple foam earplugs to block out the world. Sanity and sleep wins.

What're y'all using these days?

Pretzel vendor from 2023?

I had this amazing spinach and artichoke dipped stuffed pretzel at a spot at ranch stage in 2023 and I cannot for the life of me figure out which vendor it was from. To this day I dream of that stuffed pretzel. There were other stuffed pretzels on the menu but the dip one was the best. Does anyone know what vendor it is?
