Hunting the Hunter, by me

A gentleman hunter in the early 20th century was looking forward to his safari in the Nigerian savanna, but little had he counted on the locals not taking kindly to Europeans overexploiting their wildlife.

I can’t say I blame them. The colonizers’ penchant for rapacious overhunting did a lot of damage to animal populations in Africa during this period, and unfortunately the current trend of poaching for materials like rhinoceros horn and ivory continues to impede these creatures’ recovery. We can only hope that conservation efforts will prevail in the end.
