Who was the toughest or scariest villain of all time in the 1980s? Who is your favorite? 👀🔥

The 1980s soap operas had some of the most ruthless and unforgettable villains in television history 📺

• Angela Channing — the powerful queen of Falcon Crest

• Alexis Colby — glamorous, manipulative, and always plotting

• J.R. Ewing — the king of schemes and backstabbing

• Sable Colby — elegant, cunning, and dangerous

• Abby Ewing — smart, ambitious, and willing to do anything to win

Dominique Deveraux’s Struggle for Acceptance💔

I know this feeling all too well—I deeply empathize with this character.

Dominique Deveraux has never been fully accepted by her family. Blake Carrington and Tom Carrington refuse to acknowledge her as part of the Carrington family. Tom carries shame because Dominique’s mother was a Black maid, which fuels his rejection of her.

In this scene, Dominique Deveraux appears alongside her husband, Brady Lloyd—played by Billy Dee Williams.

✨ Heather Locklear: Aaron Spelling’s Golden Girl

Heather Locklear starred in three Aaron Spelling productions and was often referred to as “Aaron Spelling’s good luck charm.” Whenever one of his shows needed a boost, Heather seemed to deliver. When Melrose Place was struggling in the ratings, her arrival helped bring new energy and attention to the series.

Heather had a strong working relationship with Spelling and appeared on both Dynasty and T. J. Hooker during the same period. The production schedules were carefully coordinated so she could film her scenes on Dynasty—where she was not needed in every episode—while continuing her work on T. J. Hooker.

What character did you enjoy the most?

The shocking series finale of Dynasty. 🎬🪦

It’s been 37 years since American Broadcasting Company (ABC) cancelled Dynasty on a cliffhanger, leaving fans shocked and wanting closure.

May 11, 1989 - "Catch 22".

When Blake and Jeff are set up by a corrupt cop, Blake ends up taking a bullet. Fallon and Krystina become trapped in a collapsing mine shaft, while Alexis and Dex plunge from a balcony at the Carlton Hotel. The episode ended with viewers left wondering who would survive.

Linda Evans’ journey from The Big Valley to Dynasty ✨

Linda first captured audiences as Audra Barkley on The Big Valley alongside the legendary Barbara Stanwyck from 1965–1969. Years later, she became a television icon as Krystle Carrington on Dynasty from 1981–1989.

Two unforgettable roles in two classic primetime eras.

Has anyone here ever watched The Big Valley? What did you think of Linda as Audra compared to Krystle?

🇬🇧 Sable Colby and Frankie Colby’s Childhood

Fans often ask why Frankie has no British accent while Sable does. Sable and Frankie came from a wealthy family in England. After their parents divorced, Frankie moved to California with their father, while Sable remained in London with their mother.

They were originally born Sabella Scott and Francesca Scott before marrying into the powerful Colby family through brothers Philip Colby and Jason Colby.

Frankie was married three times — to Philip Colby, Peter Hamilton (deceased), and Roger Langdon — and was later engaged to Jason Colby. Meanwhile, Sable became known for her elegance, ambition, and distinctive British sophistication.

👗💎Fashion Was the Real Star of Dynasty

The wardrobe on Dynasty was a character all on its own. Every glamorous look and unforgettable costume was designed by the late, great Nolan Miller, whose iconic fashion helped define the series and made Alexis Colby a true television legend.

Favorite non-main actor/actresses/characters on Dynasty

Maybe they had a smaller role/ shorter time on the show. For me the actress who played Sarah (Cassie Yates) was amazing as the mother of Kathy when Krystina needed the heart transplant.

Dominique Deveraux’s entrance into Dynasty remains one of the series’ most iconic moments and is still referenced and recreated in pop culture today.

At the end of Season 4 in 1984, audiences were introduced to Blake Carrington’s half-sister, Dominique Deveraux—played by the legendary Diahann Carol. Her arrival brought glamour, tension, and a new layer of power to the Carrington world.

I feel her arc was never fully developed after such a strong introduction. The writers could have done so much more with Dominique. The show jumped to number 1 during her arrival.

Happy Mother’s Day to all my Dynasty family and friends 💐✨

Honoring Alexis Morrell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan this Mother’s Day. I miss this original cast so much — back when it all began. 📺💎 The glamour, the drama, the fashion, and the unforgettable moments made this era truly iconic.

No cast will ever recreate the magic of classic Dynasty. ❤️

Pamela Sue Martin and Al Corley with Joan Collins.

The original Alexis, Fallon, and Steven.

In this iconic scene from The Colbys, Frankie and Jason are all set to board a private jet for a romantic getaway—just the two of them. But in true Sable fashion, she’s already two steps ahead.

As they step onto the jet, there she is—Sable—lounging comfortably, indulging in caviar and sipping champagne. 🥂✈️

Unbothered. Uninvited. Completely in control.

Now that’s how you make an entrance.

Continuity error with the name of Blake's mother

I remember there was an early episode where Blake told Fallon she was named after his mother. But then in Season 6, his mother's name is revealed to have been Ellen. So was Fallon her maiden name or something?

Dynasty Reunion (1991)💎

There were so many loose ends that never got proper closure. We never found out what happened to Dex or Sable. The original Steven returned, but Adam Carrington was suddenly played by a different actor. Even John Forsythe reportedly hated the script because it barely made sense. At times, it feels like watching an alternate reality version of Dynasty.

Why did the Carrington mansion look completely different? Why was Alexis Colby running Colby Enterprises instead of ColbyCo?

The one thing the reunion did give us was one final legendary showdown between Alexis and Krystle. 🍷🔥

October 20–22, 1991

You can still watch Parts 1 & 2 of the reunion on YouTube.

Did you know the iconic mansion from the Dynasty spin-off The Colbys was also used as Donna Martin’s home on Beverly Hills, 90210?

Located at 1060 Brooklawn Drive in Bel Air, Los Angeles, the estate—known as “The Belvedere”—served as the grand residence of the powerful Colby family.

On The Colbys, The Belvedere was built by Andrew Colby on land originally purchased by his father, symbolizing the family’s legacy, wealth, and influence in Los Angeles.

It was great seeing Linda Evans and Barbara Stanwyck reunited on Dynasty. I’m not sure if they actually shared any scenes together, but it was still special seeing them in the same orbit during the backdoor pilot for The Colbys in Dynasty Season 6.

I loved them together on The Big Valley — one of my all-time favorite Western shows. 🤠📺

There’s an episode in season 9 of Dynasty where Jeff Colby confronts Sable and asks, “What are you doing here in Denver?” In that moment, she gets emotional while talking about Blake Carrington—almost as if she’s in love with him.

That scene always confused me. It felt like there was some deeper history or unresolved feelings that the show never fully explained. It’s the episode where Sable is wearing a flower on her blouse.🌹

They were married, but Dex crossed every line—having affairs with her daughter Amanda and her cousin Sable.

And yet… I still feel like Dex was the real love of Alexis’s life after Blake. Even after their divorce, they couldn’t stay away from each other.

Dex wasn’t just some random man either—his roots ran deep. His father was in business with Blake’s father, Tom Carrington, and Andrew Colby in the oil game, tying him right into the same powerful dynasty.
