Not sure if this is a hot take or not. I know a lot of people say serious Goku isn’t manga accurate, or it’s an Americanized version of him from the dub. But imo, this is the best version of Goku to me. With the introduction of ss4, he was the perfect balance of goofiness and maturity. He knew when to lock the hell in and take a threat serious. Even his dialogue, his fights in Gt he has so many lines about how he’s earth’s savior, he’s the light in the dark, he’s the one to deliver justice etc. He has all these profound lines and metaphors throughout his fights vs in super his “I have to stop you” or “I want to fight strong people” type lines during fights. Just an opinion but I feel like had gt continued on longer post ss4 a lot more people would appreciate his character in this series

I just really love his ki aura in the show, the sparkles are so peak, but most people share that appreciation, so what I really wanna talk about is his Big Bang Kamehameha. In the anime it's more like a wave in a traditional sense like water. It makes me think of his soul punisher in the sense that his BBK felt like a purifying attack with how omega reacted to it, but that's headcanon I know. Anyway, all of the games except Infinite World (the goat when it comes to gt representation) and xenoverse, treat it like any other generic beam attack and I really hate that. I imagine the reason for that is because of beam clashes which was big in the Sparking series and then future games kept it the same since gt representation ended up being shaped by how those first few games handled it and less by how the actual series went, this is just my guess though.

Anyway my ramble aside, I wanted to ask, am I alone in liking how his BBK looked in the anime, or are there some og lovers out here?

I don't get why the writers for GT thought to bring back a character as minor as 17, and make him the big bad of an arc. Was he popular with fans back then or something?

The Super 17 saga had a very promising idea, bringing back old villains. The problem is that they focused more on secondary/forgettable villains. Which villain would you give the most prominence to?

Maybe Vegeta beating Cooler for being from Frieza's race? Broly with his aura? Janemba causing chaos? Goten fighting Android 13 for almost preventing his birth? Gotenks and Gohan having a rematch against Hirudegarn?
