an incredibly scenic video of a flight from Islamabad to Skardu, filmed by the pilot during the journey and the views are absolutely breathtaking.

This route takes you through the massive Karakoram and Himalayan mountain ranges, where the aircraft flies close to towering peaks, deep valleys, and endless snow-covered landscapes.

What makes this flight special:

Flying through high-altitude mountain ranges

Close views of some of the world’s highest peaks

Narrow valleys and dramatic terrain

A truly thrilling and unforgettable experience

The pilot tried to capture the beauty of this route, and it clearly shows how unique and powerful this journey really is.

It’s not just a flight it feels like you’re flying inside the mountains.

As someone connected to the tourism sector, I can say this is one of the most beautiful aerial routes you can experience.

Pakistan is full of such hidden gems, and Skardu is definitely one of them.

Who Would Ride on the Winding Roads of Skardu 🇵🇰?

There’s something special about riding a bike on the roads of Skardu.

The sharp turns, the cold wind, the sound of the Indus River beside the road, and giant mountains all around.. it honestly feels more like a movie scene than a normal road trip.

Some parts of the road are smooth, while others are rough and full of adventure. But that’s exactly what makes the experience unforgettable. Every turn opens a completely new view glaciers, rivers, hanging bridges, and massive Karakoram peaks.

As someone from Skardu, I’ve seen many travelers stop their bikes again and again just to take photos or enjoy the silence of the mountains. The journey itself becomes the destination.

The best thing is that you don’t only experience nature here, you also meet friendly locals, small roadside villages, and the real culture of Gilgit-Baltistan.

If you enjoy road trips, adventure, and mountain landscapes, Skardu’s winding roads are something you should experience at least once in your life.

Every corner of Gilgit-Baltistan feels wild, massive, and untouched. The snow-covered peaks, powerful glaciers, cold winds, and endless valleys make this region a true paradise for mountain lovers.

These mountains are not just beautiful, they make you feel small in the best possible way. Standing near these giant peaks and glaciers gives a different kind of peace and adventure at the same time.

Gilgit-Baltistan is home to some of the world’s highest mountains, and the raw beauty here is beyond words. Pictures can capture the view, but they can never fully capture the feeling of being there.

Nature at its purest. 🇵🇰🤍

The Road to Shimshal — One of Pakistan’s Wildest Mountain Drives

This is the road leading to Shimshal, one of the most remote mountain villages in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.

At first glance, it looks terrifying, narrow roads carved into cliffs, sharp blind turns, no major road barriers, and constant rockfall zones along the way. In some sections, you’re literally driving between vertical mountains and deep drops.

Yet surprisingly, serious accidents are relatively rare here.

The reason is simple: local drivers know these roads extremely well. People here grow up driving in mountain terrain, and most drivers move carefully because they understand how unpredictable the landscape can be.

The road itself is part of the adventure. Every turn opens views of raw mountains, glaciers, rivers, and isolated valleys that feel untouched by the modern world.

Shimshal is often called the highest settlement in the Hunza region and is known for its strong mountain culture, yak pastures, and trekking routes. Reaching it isn’t easy — but that difficulty is exactly what keeps the place unique.

This isn’t luxury tourism.

It’s the kind of journey that reminds you how powerful nature really is.

You don’t usually expect to see sand dunes surrounded by huge mountains, but that’s exactly what this place is. Sometimes in winter, these same dunes even get covered with snow, which makes it even more unique.

Katpana is located near Skardu, on the way to Shigar, and it’s not very far from the city., around 20–30 minutes drive. It’s part of the larger cold desert area that stretches along the Indus River.

What I liked about this place:

Wide open sandy landscape in the middle of mountains

Peaceful environment, not too crowded

Easy access from Skardu city

Sunset views hit different here

It’s also known as one of the highest cold deserts in the world, which makes it even more interesting.

If you’re visiting Skardu, this is definitely one of those spots you shouldn’t miss.,especially for a short, relaxing visit with great views.

The river is fast and powerful, and watching them cross it like this is both incredible and a bit scary.

In many remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, this isn’t adventure it’s daily life. People often rely on simple, locally made solutions to cross rivers and move around.

This video shows the courage and resilience of people in the region.

At the same time, it also reminds us how challenging life can be in these areas.

It’s inspiring… but also a reminder of the need for safer facilities and better infrastructure.

Northern Pakistan is not just about beautiful landscapes

it’s also about strong people living in tough conditions.

Deosai is often called the “Roof of the World”, and when you are actually there, you can feel why. It is one of the highest plateaus in the world, located in Skardu, Pakistan.

The place is completely different from typical mountain valleys..,it’s wide open, silent, and feels endless. You don’t see trees much here, just vast green plains, blue skies, and mountains far away.

What I experienced there:

Extreme silence and peaceful environment

Cold winds even in summer

Wild open landscapes everywhere

Stunning 360° mountain views

It’s also part of Deosai National Park, which is famous for its wildlife, especially the Himalayan brown bears.

Driving a Prado through this terrain felt unreal.. like being in another world.

If you are someone who loves nature, road trips, and raw untouched landscapes, Deosai should definitely be on your list.

Pakistan really has places that feel beyond imagination.

Sogha Lake, near Khaplu in Gilgit-Baltistan.! and honestly, the reflection looked even better in real life. The surrounding mountains, sky, and silence all come together in a way that’s hard to explain.

Sogha Lake (also called Crystal Lake by some locals) is still not very crowded, which makes it even more special. It’s one of those places where you can just sit quietly and enjoy nature without noise or rush.

Getting there takes a bit of effort, but that’s also why it feels untouched. The water is so clear that on a calm day, you get a perfect mirror reflection of everything around you.

If you’re planning to explore Khaplu side, I’d definitely suggest adding this to your list. It’s not as famous as other spots, but that’s exactly its charm.

I’m from Skardu, and places like this are the reason I never get tired of traveling around here.

Ever heard of the "Land of the Giants"?

Hey everyone! If you’re heading up north to Skardu anytime soon, you absolutely have to carve out a day or two for Deosai National Park. It’s located just southeast of Skardu city, and honestly, pictures don't do it justice.

It’s a massive high-altitude plateau (over 350,000 hectares!) sitting right at the junction where the Himalayas meet the Karakoram range. It feels like you’re driving through a desktop wallpaper.

A few quick tips for anyone planning to visit:

The Wildlife: It was actually made a National Park back in the 90s to protect the Himalayan Brown Bear. If you’re lucky (and quiet), you might spot one. Keep an eye out for Golden Marmots too., they are everywhere and pretty fun to watch.

The Landscape: Because it’s a "biodiversity hotspot," the flora and fauna are unique. You’ll see everything from Tibetan wolves to Himalayan ibex.

For the Fishers: The streams there have local snow trout that grow surprisingly huge because the ecosystem is so well-preserved.

Best Time to Go: Remember, this is high altitude. The weather changes fast, and it’s only accessible in the summer months (usually June to September) before the snow shuts it down.

It’s a fragile environment, so if you go, please make sure to pack out your trash and respect the habitat of the bears.

The Giant of Deosai 🇵🇰🏔️🐂

Yaks are known for their strength and ability to survive in extreme cold weather and high altitudes. In places like Deosai, they are a perfect symbol of life in the mountains — calm, powerful, and built for harsh conditions.

Watching such massive animals move freely across these endless plains feels unreal in person. Moments like this remind you how raw and untouched nature still is in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nature in the north hits differently 🇵🇰🏔️

The heart of Skardu 🇵🇰— beautiful Kachura Valley 🏔️🤍

Lower Kachura Lake, also known as ShangriLa Resort, is one of the most peaceful places in Skardu. 🏔️🤍

Captured this beautiful drone view recently, and honestly, the beauty feels unreal from above. The crystal clear water, green surroundings, and mountains all around make this place look like something out of a dream.

What makes ShangriLa special is not just the lake, but the calm atmosphere around it. You can sit there for hours, enjoy the cold breeze, and just forget the noise of everyday life. Every season gives this place a different beauty, but the peaceful feeling always stays the same.

Skardu truly is heaven for people who love nature, mountains, and raw landscapes. Pictures and videos look beautiful, but being there in person feels completely different.

Pakistan’s northern areas never disappoint. 🇵🇰

Fairy Meadows Road is one of the most treacherous routes in the world, attracting thrill-seeking travelers and adventure enthusiasts. Located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, this 16-kilometer road is completely unpaved and unmaintained, with no guardrails to protect drivers. Ranked as the second most dangerous road in the world, Fairy Meadows Road is a challenging route that requires a 4x4 vehicle, followed by a 2-3 hour hike or bike ride to reach the destination.

The road journey from Islamabad to Fairy Meadows is approximately 410-580 kilometers, taking around 11-20 hours by road, depending on the route and traffic conditions. Horse Riding in Sarfaranga Cold Desert, Skardu 🇵🇰

Sarfaranga Cold Desert is one of the most unique places in Gilgit-Baltistan, located near Skardu. It is often called one of the highest cold deserts in the world. What makes it special is the combination of white sand dunes surrounded by massive snow-covered Karakoram mountains.

Unlike traditional deserts, Sarfaranga is not extremely hot. In fact, it stays cool most of the year, and in winter it can even get very cold with snow around the nearby peaks.
