Showing some of my favorite Ran moments in memory of Wakana Yamazaki

It's a showcase of how a legendary VA can literally give life to a manga character through spoken words. From fear, hesitation, sadness, protection, happiness and anger Ran has shown it all throughout the franchise. And miss Wakana, for 30 years highlighted all of them.

I grew up with this anime, first dubbed in my country's language, then went ahead and sailed seas back in the day to watch the (EVERLASTING FILLERS) episodes as soon as they came out. Then the movies came through, then the OVAs, then the specials. Manga came last, I have to say.

I have respect for all the characters, all of them are made with a specific objective in mind and let me tell you, considering I have my favorites and highlights for this show, Ran is a constant figure throughout, from the start till now. She used to be my neechan, now I drink coffee and head to work. And still dream of desperate revival princess/knight scene.

Miss Wakana, you will be missed, truly. I'm still shocked by the news. I mean, death is a concept you can either fully grasp, or not, and maybe losing someone important/close to you in daily life setting, hits closer than anyone could think. Probably because you were part of my escapism back in the day, along with the rest and grew to enjoy it, rather than escaping became a hobby. Wakana's Ran was a model to me. (You should ditch that dumbass of a detective boyfriend, honestly🙂‍↕️)

Conan will always be part of my childhood, teen-hood and, hopefully, adulthood. With everything in between, I'll still try to keep up with this detective series. I'll pray for health to anyone involved in any kind and form of art that has helped/entertained people through times.

Thank you for the dedication you put into voicing Ran.

Rest in peace Wakana Yamazaki, you will be missed greatly.

Shinichi Kudo and Ran Mori’s VAs were close friends for nearly 30 years 😢

Kappei Yamaguchi, legendary VA and the voice of Shinichi Kudo in ‘Detective Conan,’ shared his statement after the passing of Wakana Yamazaki, the longtime voice actress of Ran Mori, Wakana Yamazaki.

For nearly 30 years, their voices grew up together alongside an entire generation of anime fans.

Shinichi and Ran became one of anime’s most iconic relationships, but behind the scenes, their bond as coworkers and friends clearly meant just as much.

Yamaguchi admitted he still cannot emotionally accept the loss, a feeling many Detective Conan fans are now struggling with too.

For decades, hearing Shinichi and Ran together became part of fans’ childhoods, from heartfelt moments to unforgettable cases that defined the series for millions.

Now, the Detective Conan family is mourning not only a legendary voice actress, but also the loss of someone who stood beside the cast for almost three decades. 💔

I am officially caught up(Putting under Spoilers just in case)

I don’t know if the Rum arc is considered finished yet, so I’ll be putting specifics under spoilers just in case.

I took a bit of a break from reading the manga, stopped just before the Kyoto school trip arc, which was a well thought out if not bittersweet case, but I’ve spent the last couple weeks finishing up the manga, and I’m finally caught up.

Some cases that stood out to me were the following:

  • The Azure Throne Case: Wasn’t expecting the latest Kaito case to turn into a murder, let alone that >!Kid would disguise himself as Shinichi/Jimmy to help with the investigation. I know he’s used this disguise before in the anime movies, but I believe this is a manga first? Either way, it was fun seeing how Kid got out of this one and how close Hakuba was to figuring out the full ruse.!<
  • The 17 Year Old Truth: It was interesting to get an insight of the night of Koji Haneda and Amanda Hughes’ murders from Kuroda’s POV. >!Especially that tidbit of Wakasa’s real name being Rachel Asaka. I wonder if Aoyama thought, since he chose the English names for the Funimation dub, that Rachel was a name so nice he’d use it twice!<>!😂!< >!Either way, it’s clear she has a one-track mind laser focused on revenge for her adoptive mother, targeting anyone associated with the Black Organization. Would explain her fixation on Haibara. I’m hoping she can be convinced to be an ally against them, but it looks it’ll take a while before we can fully trust her.!<
  • The Attaché Case Railway Murder: I’ll be honest, I was not a fan of Momiji Ooka. I understand her role was to create tension in the “Will they? Won’t they?” for Heiji/Harley and Kazuha, and she serves it well, because all I kept thinking was “oh no, not her again” when she shows up. Her butler Iori, on the other hand, is a different story. I actually like the relationship he has with Momiji and seeing how they met was actually sweet. Also how he, Heiji and Conan got around the culprit listening on the earpiece was pretty smart😀👍
  • The Magnet Beads and Paper Bird cases: These cases stood out partially because of the NHK special done on Aoyama-sensei. I know it’s obvious to some here that Aoyama tries out the tricks he uses before putting them in the manga, but it was cool to see how he does it, and how he puts his experience into the characters(like Kogoro/Richard getting tired from a long hike😂) The special even had segments of the chapters made into motion comics voiced by the anime seiyuu. So when I saw these tricks in their respective chapters, it clicked that these were the ones featured in the special. >!Also Chihaya splashing water in Takagi’s face in the latter case is hilarious out of context!<>!😂!<
  • The Masked Ball Murder Case: Gives a neat insight into Chihaya and Jugo’s relationship, as well as how close Takagi is to becoming like Matsuda if he isn’t careful.
  • - And finally, the Haunted House case: It was fun seeing Shinichi and Ran as kids in a flashback case again. >!Wasn’t expecting to see Amuro and Matsuda with the cadets take on this case, but it was a nice surprise!<>!😄!< >!Though now that Amuro in the present knows that Conan is Kudo, I worry what that may mean for his double agent role as Bourbon!<>!🤔!<

Honorable mentions go out to the play director and actor murder cases: >!never tried the pizza trick in the former, and I’m happy to see Heiji and Kazuha finally confess their feelings in the latter!<>!😍!< >!Also nice twist with Kazuha’s mom disguising herself as her daughter, I was almost expecting it to be Momiji pulling a fast one!<>!😅!< >!Well played, Mrs Toyama, well played.!<

Now that I’m caught up, it’ll be interesting to see how things shake up from here. Though given recent irl news, I imagine we’ll be waiting a while 😔

Detective Conan 26th Movie

I just finished watching the movie and on one side I'm happy cuz so many CoAi sweet moments and the movie was genuinely so much fun and the story was also intriguing. >!Especially with the Black organization involved as well. !<

But on the other hand, I'm sad at the end cuz Haibara once again wanted to end it all cuz she wanted to keep the others safe. And once again I'm sad that CoAi seems to never be canon despite their chemistry being so good. I genuinely want a happy life for Haibara and seeing her with Conan/Shinichi shows me that she CAN be happy we with someone and it makes me sad she can't have it 😞

But also a question, at the end two people talked and they said smth about he can't forgive him cuz of the kiss?? What did that mean and who was talking??

Wakana Yamazaki

I just found out Wakana Yamazaki died and I'm literally crying at 5 in the morning because of shock and heartbreak. I'm sad for her family. She died too early, there's so much more for her in this world. She has a sweet voice, and seeing some of her interviews and interactions with her fellow VAs, I feel she's also a sweet person.

Right now, forgive me for being selfish and speaking solely as a DC fan.

Detective Conan has been a huge part of my childhood, I grew up with it. And Ran has always been my favorite character. I've adored and admired her personality, and that character of hers I love had been shaped by Wakana Yamazaki.

She's not just Ran's voice. She's Ran. She's given life to my beloved kind, compassionate, strong, brave, resilient character. Not ever hearing her voice again whenever seeing Ran from hereon will always remind me of the loss. Watching any future episodes, especially one of Shinichi and Ran, would never feel the same. She'd breathed so much life into Ran, she defined Ran's character with her portrayal. Ran won't feel the same without her voice. I think I will cry my heart out when Movie 30 is released.

I've been waiting so long for Shinichi and Ran to reunite. M30 would have been the perfect time, especially with the London Arc flashback. It's gonna have something great and monumental for my favorite DC couple.

But now, it feels as though Ran has been separated from Shinichi.

Kappei Yamaguchi and Wakana Yamazaki are my Shinichi and Ran. I've rooted for them and watched/read their journey in the anime/manga through the years. They're the soul of the characters, their voices expressing every heartbreak, joy, sorrow, love that have had my heart breaking or soaring for them.

Right now I feel like half of that heart has died. Kappei Yamaguchi's statement on her death feels like how Shinichi would react, a lie he can't believe at first. The other VAs' reactions show just how working for decades in this anime have made them all close like family. And Ran is one of the core characters of the series. Losing her original voice forever that was there for three decades feels like losing the Ran I've known.

She will always be my Ran 🖤 I'm going to support Akemi Okamura in taking over the role. But Wakana Yamazaki's Ran will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you, Wakana Yamazaki, for giving life to such a beautiful character and making me love Ran Mouri even more. Be at peace. 🕊️

Question about kaito

>!Correct if I'm wrong but in a canon episode at the ending kaito was in a call or something with Conan s father and he called him brother, so is he really his brother real or would you say foster. !<

>!Sorry If the question is repeated I couldn't find anything about it. !<

>!And also let me know if the movies 27-28 would be a must watch. !<Thanks 🙏🏻.
