Authentic vs Replica Kit

Has anyone felt the difference in the two jerseys? $215 is insane, but feels worth it if the replica feels crappy at $150.

the silver lining nobody is talking about from saturday's loss

Hey r/DenverSummit frens... so i'm still processing saturday but i had to share this because i don't think it's getting enough attention.

obviously losing 3-2 after being up 2-0 at halftime is brutal. three goals in 16 minutes. the carson pickett own goal was just cruel. and i know everyone wants to talk about the second half collapse and what went wrong with the formation switch.

but did anyone catch jonas eidevall's postgame? the san diego head coach. the team that just beat us. broke their 30-match curse against us specifically.

he got asked basically "as the top team in the league, what does the wave think about this expansion side?" and his answer was not coachspeak. he said "denver is so good. they've built an incredible roster. they've come so far in such a short time" and called us "one of the toughest opponents you're coming across in this league."

THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE NWSL coach. after they beat us. saying that.

the underlying numbers back it up too. xG was 0.90 to 0.93, basically dead even. shots 9-8 denver. touches in their box 27-13. we weren't outplayed, we were outscored. san diego was just clinical and we weren't.

cushing's "tough times make top teams" line is gonna stick with me. so is what he said about eva gaetino — on crutches at mile high four weeks ago, subbing on against the best team in the league saturday. that's the kind of fight this team has.

i broke all of this down on the latest 5280 pitch episode if anyone wants the full breakdown. but mostly i just wanted to put the eidevall quote somewhere people would actually see it. because the league is paying attention to what's being built here, even when the result hurts.

DMC Embroidery Floss colors

I was inspired to make friendship bracelets for the NWSL. Any chance someone here has the DMC embroidery floss colors for each team? I made my best guesses for Denver today.

DMC: 17 (yellow), 826 (blue) , 919 (sandstone),and 500 (green)

The schedule is getting better

Seems to be a lot of heads held low here after last night. I just wanna say the league did is zero favors with the schedule. While only 3 home game before the WC is semi explainable by the fact that they'll have control of their home venue the 2nd half of the season (something only 2 other teams have), 5 of our first 6 games against playoff teams last year is rough.

May gets easier. Only two of five games are against playoff teams. We played Orlando well last month, and Louisville is not in playoff form right now (15th place and only 4 points). Boston is still looking for their first point, Houston and Utah are in our area of the table points-wise

This could be a great 3-1-1 stretch to climb the table heading into the break. LFG!

TLDR: The schedule is getting easier, LFG!

Watch Face

Made this for my watch…thought it was worth sharing. I’ve been putting it on for game days.

For the Apple Watch (it would work for any watch that allows custom faces):

- add the image to your photos

- use the Photos face

- Content > Choose Photo

- find this one in your photo library and choose just the one.

- Set the Time Size to extra large (it should fill the left side with the time)

- Enjoy!

Official Pre-Match Thread: Denver Summit vs San Diego Wave

Preview from Summit FC

MATCH PREVIEW: Denver Summit FC vs San Diego Wave

Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026

Venue: Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Denver, CO

Kickoff: 6:45 PM MT

Denver Summit FC(1-1-3) heads to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, April 25, for a high-stakes rematch against current NWSL leaders San Diego Wave FC (4-1-0). Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. MT as the Summit look to replicate their preseason dominance and climb the league table.

The match marks the first official regular-season meeting between the two clubs. While the Summit stunned the NWSL landscape with a 5-2 victory over the Wave during the Coachella Valley Invitational in February. Following a vital April FIFA international window, both squads return to league play refreshed and reinforced, having utilized the break to integrate new signings and fine-tune tactical setups.

International break & roster depth

The recent international break provided a crucial window for both coaching staffs to prepare for the spring stretch, though both rosters were well-represented on the world stage. San Diego saw a league-high eleven players called up for international duty, while Denver Summit FC saw seven players depart for their respective national team camps. The break has allowed the Summit to further integrate their newest stars, including the Houston Dash duo of Delanie Sheehan and Yazmeen Ryan, into the club’s high-altitude press system following a period of intensive training with the remaining squad.

Signings and star power

Since the February meeting, the star power on the pitch has reached new heights. San Diego made global headlines by acquiring U.S. Women’s National Team forward Catarina Macario from Chelsea. While her status remains doubtful due to a heel injury, the Wave’s roster remains loaded with talent.

The league recently recognized this dominance, naming four San Diego Wave FC players to the NWSL Best XI of March. Not to be outdone, Denver’s own defensive anchor, Abby Smith, was also named to the NWSL Best XI of March following a month of acrobatic saves that kept the expansion side competitive in every outing.

Form and standings

Denver enters the weekend sitting in 9th place, but the record doesn’t tell the full story. The Summit have proven to be one of the most disciplined defensive units in the league, recording three draws and conceding only three goals in five matches. Coming off a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Seattle, the Summit are looking to turn their defensive stability into three points.

They face a San Diego team that has been perfect since their opening day loss. The Wave sit atop the table with 12 points, riding a four-match winning streak into Denver.

The altitude advantage

History favors the Summit in this matchup. During the preseason, Denver’s high-press system overwhelmed San Diego’s backline, and the club will look to utilize the Mile High altitude to tire out a Wave team that has played a heavy rotation of minutes in April.

Denver Summit DSGP Debut: Summit Host San Diego Wave

By John Babiak April 25, 2026

Commerce City, Colo.- With the April international window officially closed, NWSL match play resumes nationwide. A record 130 players were called up to represent their respective countries, and 27 found the back of the net during the break.

Denver Summit players Janine Sonis and Emma Regan represented Canada and faced Zambia, South Korea, and Brazil as part of the FIFA Series 2026 in Cuiabá, Brazil.

Newly acquired forward Yuzuki Yamamoto represented Japan in three friendlies against the United States. She played in the match in Colorado.

Goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin played with France against Netherlands, twice.

Denver vs San Diego:

Locally, (1-1-3) Denver Summit FC will play host to (4-0-1) San Diego Wave in their first of two games at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. A limited number of tickets are still available. Kick-off is set for Saturday evening at 6:45 p.m.

The host club will celebrate the state of Colorado’s 150th anniversary and the city’s rich sports culture with Denver Unite Night by giving away 5,000 Denver sports scarves to the first who enter the stadium.

Mid-game, the club will welcome USWNT head coach, Emma Hayes. In addition to watching the game, Hayes will participate in a field side question and answer session with fans during the halftime intermission.

Post-game, fans can take in a special drone show- Stories in the Sky, a signature initiative of the America 250 – Colorado 150 Commission.

San Diego Talking Points:

The visitors arrive at metro-Denver, with a four-game winning streak, two of which were clean sheets. They are in first-place with 12 points, one win ahead of Portland

To date, they have outscored their opponents 8-2.

Their offense is led by rookie center midfielder Lia Godfrey who has scored three goals in three consecutive games. Complementing Godfrey are the Brazilian goal scoring tandem, Ludmila and Dudinha.

Blockbuster signing Catarina Macario might see her first-ever NWSL minutes. The USWNT star forward signed a record-breaking five-year contract with San Diego Wave FC in March 2026, running through 2030. The 26-year-old returns to her hometown, joining the club from Chelsea for a $300,000 transfer fee in a deal worth approximately $8 million, making it one of the highest-value contracts in women’s soccer history.

Denver Summit Discussion Points:

Denver enters the match sitting in ninth place. They are coming off a strong defensive run led by goaltender, Abby Smith, who has recorded three consecutive shutouts.

Striker Melissa Kössler has been the standout attacker for Denver this short season. She has scored Summit’s first three goals. However, the promising offensive half needs to fire-up.

Eyes will be Yamamoto to be a catalyst on the attacking end on the pitch. Last season, she was named league MVP in Japan with 8 goals and 6 assists in 22 appearances. Her Tokyo Verdy Beleza side won the WE League championship.

During the team’s post-practice media session on Thursday in Glendale, Summit’s head coach, Nick Cushing said, “The approach is the same, while respecting that they’re a good team,” Cushing added. “I think it’ll be about who can bring the intensity, and we’re obviously going to try and use the altitude to our advantage. If we can play at 100% of our max intensity, that can feel like 140% for visiting teams and that’s the aim for us every time we bring teams here to Denver.”

“What I’m really positive about is the investment and the buy-in players are showing. They are enjoying it, but also believe in it, so hopefully we can continue.”

So there’s a wave coming

3rd in Goals, first in shots on target, second in shots, first in total passes (a decent analog of possession) and second in goals against.

You can bump those results against the teams they’ve played

Silva leads the league in assists, Godfrey tied for second in goals and both of them are driving that shot on goal number.

So what do we do against this. Respect to Seattle but this is the best offense we’ve gone up against.

Wave gameplan seems to be “just play offense so you don’t have to play defense” but no one has really figured out how to break them.

So….yikes?

I believe in Kurtz/Reid or Kurtz/Gaetino and of course all praise to Abby and then it gets shakey.

Sonis attacking will leave us vulnerable. Sonis not attacking will leave us being bombarded. Pickett will be challenged with Silva for 90. Lynch and Sheehan probably need to sit back and try to get some through balls to Yuna, Ryan, Kossler. As frustrated as I am with Tash offensively I sort of want to see her play soft and try to slip through balls as well. We need her defense .

Not a fan of parking the bus and doing long balls but against this team , I think it’s too much for Abby/kurtz/R or G to do their heroic backfield thing for 90 minutes.

And for all things holy… if we’re 0-0 around the 70th or losing.. or up by more than 2 somehow…use your subs
