Cleaned up the rear
Think it looks a lot better absent passenger pegs and seat. Its only 4 bolts and 5mins to put them back on should I want to ride 2up. Not the greatest picture...
Also, having put 3,000 miles on my Daytona now riding with guys on supersports, I was curious as to why this bike is so quick to 100mph? It punches well above its weight from stoplight to stoplight etc. My most frequent riding partners are on a new R9 and a 2008 GSXR750. Each of them have about 20wheel HP on my bike which is making ~94HP at the wheel with CSR exhaust. Neither one of them can pull an inch away from me unless I make a mistake before 100mph with the QS installed. I know that our Triple engine makes more torque than Inline4s of the same displacement, and makes it much earlier in the range too. The R9 has a Triple also though, that is more powerful. This is because we have a HUGE dinner plate rear sprocket. I looked it up and it has 51 teeth stock. Normal for a supersport stock is 45 or 46teeth at rear (15 in front). Our bikes have 50freaking 1teeth at the rear. Thats the equivalent of dropping TWO teeth in the front, or up 5 to 6teeth in the rear over most similar bikes. I dropped a front tooth on a previous CBR600 I had to make it quicker from a stop and accelerating. Dropping 1 tooth at front is equal to adding 3 in the rear because its a 1:3 ratio (15:45). Just thought you might also find this interesting. This is why our bikes top speed is low 140s vs 160mph. How often do you ride that fast though? This thing cruises at 120mph on the interstate like it could do it forever. I love the fact that our bikes are geared so low. If anyone was looking for taller gears instead of best acceleration there are 6 different teeth you could drop at the rear...I like mine the way it is though.
Aftermarket rearsets -> brakes lights always stay on
I just replaced my rearsets after my buddy dropped my bike on the right side, which bent in the rear brake pedal. It was about 175$ to replace the brake pedal alone with the SW one and only 140$ to replace both rearsets, so that's why I opted to do. After long and tedious work, I fitted both sides in and checked to see if they were working, which they were, but I noticed the brake lights are on even when the brakes are disengaged. I do remember there was a small switch, which was probably it, that I had fitted as best I could with this aftermarket piece and made sure it lined up with the metal piece on the master cylinder that it contacts, but the light still stayed on. I then took it all apart to check the switch and tried manually compressing it with the bike's ignition on, with no success; the brake light still stayed on regardless of the switch being compressed. Everything works fine mechanically with no drag on the brakes, so it seems to only be electrical, but I still need to find a fix for this cuz now no one will know when I'm braking lol. pls lmk if anyone else has run into this and if they have a fix or know what's going on!!
Side blinkers/ Exhausts
Do you guys have any side blinkers that are flush to the bike? Also any decent exhausts that won’t break the bank?
What are some good trusted accessories that yall use for your 660? Im looking at both bar ends and new levers that i want red to match the bike. Im a new rider adjusting very well but the whole accessory thing is a tad overwhelming on which to choose and which fits.
Rev limiter issue.
Hello all,
I had break-in service of my Daytona this Thursday. I was testing if the rev limiter was unlocked. Not trying to break the rules so I tried a few things.
Rev the bike in neutral and it blinks at 9k RPM and won't go past it.
Tried to push it in 3rd on the highway (110-120 kmph) and it won't go above 9k rpm as well.
I thought that it might be restricted for road mode so I switched to sports mode and it is still the same.
Dealership was closed today and is closed tomorrow as well.
I did call them on Saturday and they said that when they reset the service light, the rev limiter is unlocked as well. But, they will check with the technician and get back to me.
Is there any setting I am missing in the menu to unlock the RPM?
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
Upgrades and tips for a rookie
Hi all!
After posting here a few months back I went for it and bought a Daytona, and I couldn't been happier! Already had my first service done, and am looking forward to start dragging those RPMs more and more as I'm finishing the break in period. Thank you all for helping me out by answering my questions regarding to this bike, and sharing your experiences.
As this is my first "grown up" bike, I have a few questions as to the upgrades that I'm currently looking at, which I hope you guys could help me out with.
Tank protectors. If you got it, I would really appreciate if you could share which site you bought them from. I've seen several, and I just don't know which ones to get.
Mirrors. I like the view the stock mirrors are giving me, but I don't think they look that great. I have been looking at stealth mirrors, but I don't know which ones will fit or not. Also, I'm concerned if they have any view at all? Do they actually function well as mirrors, or are they mostly there for the aesthetic?
Exhaust. I have already made up my mind if I'm going for it, which is the CS racing exhaust. Sleek design and everybody says they sound great. However, when I brought this up with my dealer, he said that fitting aftermarket exhaust can void the warranty as no exhausts are currently approved by Triumph. I do want to state that he said that Triumph are normally understanding, and would not void a warranty if there were electrical issues etc., but an aftermarket exhaust could cause a headache if there is an engine problem. What do you guys think?
That's about it! If you have any tips to other small upgrades that you think makes the bike look or feel better, please feel free to share!
And again, thank you for helping me out in my first post. I absolutely love this bike, and it feel like it has given me a new view on life. A dream come true!
I was looking to buy the Quadlock Stem Mount. But I fear that it will destroy my Phone camera because of the vibration. I saw they have an anti vibration add on. Does it work? What phone mounts do you use?
Do these bikes drink oil like their country men drink beer?
Just picked up a 2024 and it had 1000km and had its first service around 600km. For my peace of mind I had triumph do service one again and change the oil and filter. I road it 900km and checked the oil today. Was no reading on the stick. I do the procedure per what I read.
Run the bike until warm, turn off and wait a few minutes. Stick was dry! I added about 250ml give or take and then got a reading. I’ll check again tomorrow and see. I didn’t run it hard and never had the rpm above 7000.
Couple of questions.
- check oil do you screw in the oil stick all the way or just to the thread. I’ve see conflicting information.
- when you turn off the bike the oil light is on.
- when is the oil light come on and it matters? When the engine is running, off after ignition is cut, before ignition ?
Thanks!
I don't think it's an emergency, but it's definitely weird. I was crossing an intersection, and my bike died? Like the display was still on, and it didn't go out with a loud pop or weird sound. She just stopped revving? So before I even got through the intersection, I hit the ignition switch and she started right up with zero problem. I didn't bump the kill switch or anything.
Is this a me thing, is this an 'us' thing, or is something terribly wrong???
I started getting a high coolant temp light after I go over 80mph for a few minutes. Bike only has 1000 miles on it and it's under warranty but before I have to take it in does anyone know the cause? Coolant level is fine and there are no leaks. I got the first service done at 605 miles. Fan comes on. No recall on my vin. I rode it all day with my daughter (stayed under 65mph), no issues, but once I went over 80mph by myself, it yelled at me.
