Thinking of running this fella as a Kytan daemon engine stat-wise. What do you guys think? Also, base or no base??
Here the second part of my Xenarites series, this time we are going for Tyranids.
Be kind because photographing this models has been a torture ahahah, especially the biologus, I put too many details.
Have fun with the lore, hope you like them!
--- Lore
After the fall of Gryphonne IV to Hive Fleet Leviathan, a small group of Mechanicus survivors remained hidden beneath the planet in sealed research vaults, studying the Tyranids.
By dissecting synapse organisms and combining Tyranid bio-neural tissue with Mechanicus noospheric technology, they created the Synaptic Veil, a psycho-biological masking field that causes Tyranids to no longer perceive them as viable biomass.
Hidden beneath the dead Forge World, the survivors continued their research unbothered by the Tyranids, existing within the hive fleet’s shadow as though they were never there at all.
Over centuries they evolved into radical Xenarites, grafting Tyranid biomatter onto Skitarii, cybernetically controlling Gaunt organisms, and developing grotesque hybrid bio-mechanical weaponry.
The Warpborn were all vatborn within the warp itself. Made from Geneseed that was made wholly within the warp on the planet Kai. They were a project of the Dark Mechanicum, intended to be slaves and cannon fodder in the Dark Techpriests' forces. They were also intended to prove that a Chaos Marine force need not consist of fallen Astartes.
But the Warpborn had other ideas. They didn't want to be anyone's playthings. After decades of servitude to the Dark Mechanicum they finally achieved freedom in a glorious slave uprising. The small band of rebels stole a Dark Mechanicus ship, Forward Unto Dawn, kidnapped a navigator, and took to the stars. They now wander the verse pillaging, burning, and liberating anyone they perceive to be enslaved.
Recent loyalist engagements with the Dark Mechanicum have seen reports of strange new automata, barely if at all recognizable from known chassis, stalking the battlefield with far more apparent intelligence than the battle-automata of the loyalists. Most recently, forces in the galactic northwest have reported sightings of wicked half-flesh flying machines, bearing the ossuary white coloration of Xana-II’s Taghmata.
Got these painted up the other week but finally got round to taking the photographs today. You guys seemed to really love the un-primed WIP photos, and my recent Nurgle Manipulus so hopefully you dig these too!
The Maggotkin of Nurgle Rotmire Creed served as the main chassis of the models combined with a box of Sicarian Ruststalkers and natural elements from the local woods.
Got a nice little collection of units already kitbashed and primed awaiting the painting table, and I’m excited to share this hobby adventure of mine with you!
Not sure if this has been commonly asked new to the sub. I love the kitbashing aspect of this army and figure that most people just run it as chaos with proxy’s, is that right? If not what alternative homebrews are popular. what are some common kits used/ what’s the best way to put together an army I’m not adverse to printing. Lastly is there any chance someone has done models representing a whole army and has a link or examples to said army so I can use it for inspiration or alternatively if you feel like it could you share your builds and what you run them as in game. Thank you in advance
Yes, yes, I know it's a techno archaeologist model but I found him in my basement and needed an enginseer for my traitor guard so he is that now.
Lore: he is attached to the Kracian 86th to tend to their Baneblade variants after they petitioned the True Mechanicum for aid, but he refuses to do anything beyond essential maintenance and repairs unless provided with a "Zilber-class maintenance fee", the specifics of which vary wildly depending on what he's currently tinkering with on the side and how much he thinks he can squeeze out of the crew in question. He would probably have been the victim of half a dozen friendly fire incidents already if he wasn't considered essential personnel.
What it says on the tin, has anyone made custom rules for any of the dark mech walkers for 3rd edition?
