Hugo Martin saying the upcoming DLC is like a sequel has me incredibly hyped

I just caught the latest Slayers Club livestream and hearing the director describe the expansion as "massive" and "nothing like the main game" has me so excited for the future of this title. It sounds like they are taking a very different direction with the DLC which makes me think we might see some even more experimental weapons or environments. I am really hoping we get more sequences involving the fire breathing dragon or the 30 story mechs because those were some of the absolute highlights of the base game. The lore potential for exploring more of the Sentinels' war against Hell is basically endless and if the scale is truly as big as they are claiming it might end up being even better than the main story. Does anyone have theories on where the story might go next now that we’ve seen the origins of the Slayer?

Early crowd encounters still overwhelm me even after upgrading gear

Some rooms hit so hard and so fast that I barely have time to get my bearings before everything is trying to tear me apart. Even with better armor and weapons, positioning and timing matter more than raw stats. I’ve been experimenting with different rune and weapon combinations just to make these encounters manageable. When you hit the right setup, it feels amazing, but getting there is a challenge. This game really demands awareness from the very beginning.

Mid game bosses forced me to rethink everything I thought I knew about the game

I tried approaching the first major boss the same way I handled regular enemies and got destroyed immediately. These fights require patience, spacing, and understanding attack patterns instead of raw aggression. Once I slowed down and treated it like a puzzle instead of a damage race, the fight felt way more rewarding. DOOM has always been intense, but this game adds a tactical layer that really elevates the experience.

I underestimated how much runes would change the feel of combat

At first I thought runes were just passive bonuses, but once I started mixing mobility runes with defensive ones, the entire gameplay flow transformed. Suddenly I could dodge more cleanly, react faster, and survive situations that felt impossible before.

It shows how much depth the game really has. Small adjustments can completely reshape how the character handles. If anyone is struggling, experimenting with rune builds might help more than upgrading weapons.

Boss Fight Patterns — Strategies That Actually Work

Encountered my first couple of big boss fights, and they’re way more punishing than standard enemies. Took a few wipes before I realized I needed to master dodging patterns and bait certain attacks rather than just spamming damage.

If you’ve beaten the harder bosses, what strategies or movement tips helped you avoid damage and find the openings? Timing block, dodge, and knowing when to break are all sounding promises until you’re in the fight.
