Anybody got off the waitlist and needed significant AID??

Title. Just wanted to know what chances there are for people tomorrow, on May 8th. Did anyone receive any news today or yesterday or will they send out tomorrow more offers?

Yeah, so I’m NOT getting additional LOL 😭 but that was expected. I’m kind of upset about not being able to go, despite my somewhat decent financial aid offer. But I’m wondering if any students have experienced anything bad or negative experiences in general.

Hi guys, I really need help deciding between DKU (duke kunshan university) and PSU (penn state)

I was already committed to PSU, but I just got off the DKU waitlist and now I don’t know what to do anymore.

DKU:

got off the waitlist recently

30% scholarship

my parents are really pushing for it (they like the China + Duke connection)

PSU:

already committed

no scholarship (I might get a government one but it’s really competitive)

already have a roommate and kind of pictured my life there

a lot of people from my country go there so I wouldn’t feel alone

For majors:

DKU: behavioral economics

PSU: environmental systems engineering (which is what i want to do)

Other thoughts:

I am a bit scared of living somewhere where English isn’t the main language, but honestly it’s not something that would make me reject DKU on its own

PSU just feels more familiar and comfortable socially

DKU feels more like a unique/global experience

I kinda want a school where it’s not insanely hard to maintain a good GPA (especially since I’m thinking pre-med)

I also care about having at least some college spirit / campus vibe, not something completely dead

So yeah I’m torn:

DKU = more unique + some money + smaller/more international environment

PSU = safer choice + easier adjustment + bigger campus + more “college life”

I’m genuinely stuck. If anyone has experience with either (especially DKU since it’s newer), I’d really appreciate hearing it.

Hi guys! Currently, I need to make a decision between the two, and the cost for UCLA is $85,000, while for DKU it's $45,000. Which one would be more worth it, and if I also want to attend grad school do DKU provide good connections? + how is the job opportunity after graduation for DKU

DKU vs BU

Hello! I got off the BU waitlist this morning and am currently weighing my options. Right now I'm committed to Duke Kunshan with the intention of taking Molecular Biosciences with a track in Cell n Mol Bio.

Just wanted to ask whether it would be worth accepting the waitlist offer. Here are some additional details:
- International student from SEA, chinese diaspora
- DKU gave me 50% off (~45k), while BU hasn't given a final number yet but they said all merit scholarships have been given out. I don't qualify for need-based aid so I am expecting the tuition to be full. Parents are open to funding whichever though.
- At BU I would probably double major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Environmental Analysis & Policy.
- Plan on going straight to Masters after graduating and onto a career in research
- Boston is my dream city but im really not sure if that price tag is worth it 😞

Would appreciate any insight that might help me make this decision. Thanks in advance :>

DKU vs Bowdoin

I'm currently committed to Bowdoin but I just got off DKU's waitlist with the same financial aid I'd have at Bowdoin... Do you thing it's valid to consider changing Bowdoin to DKU?

(I'm aiming to study AI and politics)

Is it over if I haven’t heard anything?

Really want to go to DKU. Opportunity seems awesome but everyone said May 8th was the day for the waitlist to move

I was waitlisted and needed full aid to attend, but for now I only see students who got max 30 percent scholarships and got off from their waitlists

I think finances are the most important part for getting in, yeah?
