Realibility Question
I was looking in to making a gau-5 clone and was all about it until I read the barrel is held in place by a set of set screws. Is this product a feasible
Long term heavy use item? While the military accepted it, itâs for an item that hopefully isnât used all that often.
Welcome all new members!
Supposedly it was P.T. Barnum who once said that âthereâs no such thing as bad publicity.â
Well, since the two jets were shot down over Iran and by the grace of God, all 3 members of the flight crews were rescued, our humble sub grew by 50% in a little less than 24 hours after I posted this on r/ar15 sub.
All of this to say, thank you for joining and while weâre not one of the high-velocity subs, it would be great to see an uptick of engagement here about the GAU-5A and grow this community.
Welcome!
How I started my QRB journey
This isnât a âtodayâ original, but posted this 3 œ years ago when I created this sub as part of a conversation w a memberâŠ
_________
Long story short, I got started w Cry Havoc after talking to a relative who regretted his decision to build a take-down on the Dolos platform. After researching and watching their videos, I called Cry Havoc and to my surprise (and good fortune), Jim Lane picked up the phone and no kidding, we talked for just short of 90 mins. Unreal... too bad we didn't turn it into a podcast đ
From that call, my dual caliber .300 BLK / 5.56 was born. I called Jim again when I wanted to add 9mm as my third caliber, and it was during that conversation when he suggested that I talk to Michael at ARG. Again, another outstanding guy who shepherded me on the finer points of adding 9mm to my QRB. I cannot thank him enough as I've talked to him many times since when I ran into a roadblock, and his expertise and graciousness seemingly has no bounds.
It's because of Jim and Michael that I started this sub almost two years ago as a way of bringing some mainstream awareness to Cry Havoc, and sharing what I've learned w others like you, are realizing the benefits of building take-down/multi-caliber QRB based rifles.
Spread the word.
